I've had the E6400 for about a week. It's been perfect until today. Three times now, the computer has just shut down as I was using it, not falling asleep, obviously. It won't start right back up; I have to wait about 30 seconds and then it boots back up to normal. The fan is working and I set the power settings myself.
View 10 RepliesI recently got the Macbook for Christmas and it has been giving me no problems until last night. I was watching a video on it and I had it plugged in, as the battery was running low, when it all of the sudden went blank and shut itself off. I thought that maybe the battery had died for some strange reason, since it had not been in its charger long, went on my other computer and dismissed the situation until this morning.
When I unplugged it, checked the battery life (it was full, by the way, 8 green lights came on) and then tried to turn it on, nothing happened. I held down the button for a long time and still, nothing. I tried plugging it back in and turning it on, still nothing.
I got the manuel out and tried the Command, P, R and Power button thing, which made the laptop make a small noise. Then I tried once again to turn it on, but the screen just went to a lighter gray and nothing happened. When I pushed it again, it went dark. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in, but it still did the same, and I even tried holding down the power button for five seconds while the battery was out. Still nothing.
I've owned my M1330 for a few months now, and have been very happy with it. But today, all of the sudden, things changed. I understand that a fan speeds up when a laptop gets hot, but this is not the case here.
All of the sudden today, this started happening: The fan is always on (around 3000rpm). However, the temperatures are usually low (CPU:38-50 , GPU:47-49). The laptop doesn't even get hot.
I've already cleaned the dust out of the the fans/vents, just in case.
My bios is the one that came with the laptop: A09

All of a sudden when logging on the laptop will hit a black screen and just hang there. You can move the mouse pointer, but the hdd will just sit churning.
Things like control panel uninstall programs, device manager can churn forever with no actual progress or won't even open.
Laptop also won't shut down past the "logging off" screen.

I have a dell inspiron 1545. In the last month a trojan virus was discovered (unknown if this has anything to do with anything). I thought the fan was making a lot of sounds so over the weekend I sprayed it with canned air, which stopped the noise. Yesterday it started just shutting down. It does not re-start without you physically pushing the button. This can happen at any time.
I used Dell's PC Doc Came up with the following errors:

I tried doing a diagnostic with an F12 at startup, and it does the same shut down deal during that as well. So it does not complete.
I've been playing some games fine, e.g. pro evo 2009, in fact I played a whole season with no problems.
Today when I turned on my comp and tried to play it got stuck, and then when i restart it's all really really slow (unplayable)
My other games have got all slow as well
Is there anyway to see if the graphics card is working properly?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy alienware computer could handle any game no problem a week ago or so but now every game i play is extremely choppy and the frame rate is around 10 on most games. Is there any reason for this or anything i can do to fix it? I've tryed restoring my computer to its factory state and i have updated everything in windows update. I have also got rid of unwanted start programs in msconfig and I have also used task manager to clear any processes that i do not need running. It also seems that my computer usage is around 80% or more when playing a game now and maybe it gets to 100% and then lags?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been playing Battlefield 3 for some time on Auto settings (most of them are Ultra) and my FPS were always in the range 65-85. Yesterday morning everything was fine, however at night when I opened the game again I had 10-15 FPS. I haven't changed anything in my laptop settings so I don't know why this is happening.
P.S: I only have 1 GPU (not the SLI version) so I know it's not a loss of power. But my battery settings are set to "Optimized battery health". Does it affect performance ?
I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 3520 the wifi was working fine, and then it all of a sudden stopped. I already went and bought a new router, and tried using my Ethernet cable. The new router hasn't changed it but i can connect to my LAN network with the Ethernet cable. I am not satisfied with the LAN network because I bought a laptop so i could use it all of the house. I will not purchase anything else because i already bought an 85 dollar Belkin router.

I bought an Ideapad Z570 a while ago and everything ran as it should. But the last couple of months (probably the last 5 months) my laptop has been running extremely hot. When I say hot, I mean it often reaches temperatures of 95 degrees, sometimes exceeding that to 98 degrees. What could possibly be the cause of this?
I've cleaned out the processor heatsink and applied brand new thermal paste to the processor and heatsink, yet it still runs extremely hot. I've also cleaned out the blower fan and ports to ensure no dust is stuck in there.
I am doing intensive work in Visual Studio, but the project I'm working on is not really that big. I've been working on another project (which is desktop and not web-based) and my computer *seems* to be ok, but still reaching 85 degrees easily on a build. My Lenovo 3000 V100, was working perfectly till about 3 hrs ago when I switched off the system, the battery is also fine and charges properly.
Now it just doesn't power up, both AC and DC.
I have a HP HDX 16 1160-US and a while back, my screen went all of a sudden dark but if I put my face very close to the screen, I could see the desktop icons and start button. I looked around on the internet for possible reasons that this happened. One of the solutions was to change the lcd inverter, therefore I changed it. Once i turned the laptop on with the new lcd inverter, the laptop displayed everything alright, but after I turned it off and on, the screen went dark again. I searched some more on the internet and found another solutuon and that was to change the backlight. To me it made sense to change it because thats where the whole lighting comes from, so I changed that too, but unfortunately that didn't work either. I didn't know what else I should do after this point so I called HP to see if I can give it to them to repair it but they don't have parts anymore for my laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had this laptop 3 weeks, and this morning the keyboard suddenly stopped working properly. All was fine last night, but this morning, when I tried to log in, I found that I couldn't type my password. Most keys have stopped working, while others just come up with random symbols or punctuation marks (e.g. the Fn key now displays a /). I can press any key to get from the intro screen with the clock and date. The touchpad is working as it should. Attaching an external keyboard also works.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEven as I write this, my Macbook is chugging (or slowing down) for some reason, and this has been happening lately where it almost never happened like a month ago.
To be more specific, when I enter text it's like there's a kink in a hose; no letters will appear and then a stream of all the letters I've been typing will pour out onto the screen. Prior to this happening I'll get the swirling whirling rainbow ball that I guess means the system is "thinking" or whatever. This is happening with all programs and when I switch tabs in Firefox.
Anyone also dealing with this?
I haven't really added much to my Mac recently that might cause something like this to happen. It's like it's getting brain freeze or something.
I'm also gonna throw this out there too - maybe Facebook chat has something to do with this? 'Cuz I'm on it right now and it's in full chug mode.

I have a Pavilion dm4-2165dx with Windows 7 64 bit. I have not made any changes to the laptop or the network. All of a sudden today I could not connect to my home wireless connection eventhough all of the other machines in my house can still connect without a problem.
My wireless connection light is on and it is blue. I can still connect to the internet through wired ethernet into my router.
I tried a windows roll back and that didn't work either. The wireless drivers that are listed in device manager are:

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy webcam stopped working all of a sudden. I have HP ENVY dv6-7258nr Notebook PC with Windows 8. The camera app says "Connect a camera." and the device manager does not show "Imaging Devices". Instead there is "Other Devices" which has a subcategory of "Unknown Devices" with a yellow mark.
I have updated, reinstalled cyberlink youcam drivers, tried system restore (which does not complete saying i have an anti virus open when i don't have any antivirus on my notebook) but nothing works. Scanning for hardware does not bring up any thing. I have also followed the instructions given on hp site and opened the youcam software but it does not detect the camera.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOver the past few months I noticed my laptop was super hot to touch and the fan was working overtime. I put this down to the additional memory and bluetooth device I installed 6 months ago.
The laptop began powering off without warning. It would just die.
I took out the memory and turned off the bluetooth and started disabling services I did not need in Windows XP.
This seemed to work for a short time. I noticed the fan going full speed whenever I used GFX intensive games. After power-off in the middle of a battle in Civ IV I decided enough.
Searched on-line and found some interesting notebook tools that reported the temperature of the CPU. Yep it was super hot. It appeared to be operating about 86oC. The system will power off once the CPU reach a critical threshold.
I figured the fan effectiveness must be reduced. I opened up the 5672 and took a look at the fan. Sure enough the dust was like looking into my vacuum cleaner.
I spent about an hour with a small screw driver, tweezers, some cotton swabs (q-tips) and alcohol based cleaner bulling balls of fluff out of the fan enclosure.
After I got all the clog out the CPU now operates a comfortable 55oC. No super fan blowing or sudden-power off.
Simple Pass stopped working, on my Envy 15 j009wm windows 8.1 notebook, suddendly today. HP Recovery Manager and tried to fix it there, but it didn't work. When I manually click on Simple Pass it won't open... that is to say the page starts to come on, but then it flashes off and won't open.

I bought the computer seven months ago, and the battery start with Design capacity 44,000wWh, while the full charge capacity is quite closer to the design capacity. However in the battery report it shows that two weeks ago the design capacity suddenly drop from 44000 to 40734mWh in one week, and then afterwards it drop to 39000mWh. And the actual full charge capacity seems to linger around 37000mWh. Is there something wrong or is my battery just wear out naturally?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a new T400 (2768GP6) running Windows 7 Enterprise (~3 weeks old). This morning it just turned off all of a sudden and won't turn back on. I tried pressing the power button 10 times and holding it down on the 11th time with no AC or battery connected, but it's just dead. None of the indicators are lit when connected to AC.
I might point out that I did spill some coffee on the keyboard this morning about 5 minutes before it shut off. But, it was barely a few drops (you know, the few drops that remain although the cup is technically empty) and I wiped it all off with a paper towel. Those few drops spilled at the bottom left-hand corner, right by the Fn and Ctrl keys.
My battery has not held more than about a 45-second charge since 2009; however, the AC adaptor seems to work fine, and the Power Management icon always tells me that I have a full (i.e., about 45-second) charge and that the AC adaptor is plugged in. Today, just after I disabled the Acer Tour Reminder, CyberLink PlayMovie, and Microsoft Office OneNote (because I never use them and I wanted a faster startup), I moved some program icons that I didn't need or that were already on my Quick Launch tool bar into the Recycle Bin. Suddenly, the notebook make sort of an electronic squeaking sound and immediately shut down--black screen; no lights.
I unplugged it, checked to ensure the battery was properly seated, felt to make sure it did not feel hot anywhere, plugged it in, saw that the lights were showing on the adaptor and on the front left edge of the notebook, turned it on, and selected normal start; it started up again. It ran for at least three minutes (which, because of the battery, it would not unless the AC adaptor was functioning) and then, after I moved a few more icons to the Recycle Bin, it suddenly shut down again in the same manner.
I started it again and it has now been running long enough for me to look up my Acer Forum registration information and update it after resetting my password. I am writing this on another notebook. The Acer is still running, but I want to ensure it doesn't shut down on me when I am in the middle of a project.
My Dell XPS 1645 [see sig for specs] will random shut off on me. I will be doing anything from watching a movie, listening to music, or just browsing and it will random shut off. They are like days apart but It shut off 3 times on my today :S.
These shut offs are not Temperature related as In BOTH Windows and Ubuntu it has shut off and I have been monitoring temperature in both, with log files so I can check the temperature @ shut off time.
I live in Jamaica and it would be kind of hard for me to just send it in to have it looked at. I'm hoping the next BIOS revision along with fresh installs of both OS's will do the trick.

When I turn off the computer, it does not turn off all the time (sometimes it does, and most of the time it doesn't), the screen truns off like it wants to shut down, but then the computer hangs up, with the HDD disk light flashing, and it never shuts down, requiring a hard shut down.
I have not installed any new software...nothing different has happened, and I did try system restore, going back quite a ways, it did not work....
I have replaced my old CPU (T8300 2.4/3M/800) with a new CPU (NEW SLGEE Dell Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 3.06GHZ/6MB/1066 Mhz Socket P CPU Processor )...All I get now is when I start the computer the "power LED" will blink once and beep once and then the "battery led" will blink once and then it will shut off. If I remove the new CPU and replace it with my old CPU it works fine...Does this sound like the new CPU is bad or not supported by my motherboard? From what my manual tells me this CPU should be supported by my motherboard. My manual says it can handle Intel Core 2 Duo, 6MB and 1066 FSB. Dell verified that my system is socket P.
