Simple Pass stopped working, on my Envy 15 j009wm windows 8.1 notebook, suddendly today. HP Recovery Manager and tried to fix it there, but it didn't work. When I manually click on Simple Pass it won't open... that is to say the page starts to come on, but then it flashes off and won't open.

My simple pass is not working. I check the biometric device the software is up to date, and it gives me a code 19 fault. On my programs installed i do not see the simple pass program no longer. how can i get the correct software to reinstall?

I have an HP ENVY dv6 Notebook with Sinple Pass on it which was working until a few weeks ago. I don't know how to reset it. I don't think I have done anything to uninstall it unless by error. The light no longer flashes and my fingerprint won't take.

The camera app says "Connect a camera." and the device manager does not show "Imaging Devices". Instead there is "Other Devices" which has a subcategory of "Unknown Devices" with a yellow mark.
I have updated, reinstalled cyberlink youcam drivers, tried system restore (which does not complete saying i have an anti virus open when i don't have any antivirus on my notebook) but nothing works. Scanning for hardware does not bring up any thing. I have also followed the instructions given on hp site and opened the youcam software but it does not detect the camera.

I already went and bought a new router, and tried using my Ethernet cable. The new router hasn't changed it but i can connect to my LAN network with the Ethernet cable. I am not satisfied with the LAN network because I bought a laptop so i could use it all of the house. I will not purchase anything else because i already bought an 85 dollar Belkin router.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader and HP simple pass identity protection software that came with my Dv6-3121nr. For some reason all of a sudden since this morning it won't work. There are no lights on the sensor and it does not respond to any swipe/movement. When I launch the Simple pass software and go to the fingerprints section, it says the finger print reader is not connected. Interestingly when I go to device manager I don't see any biometric devices listed under there. I read on another thread that some options from under biometic devices in device manager fixed the problem.
I've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling Simple pass from the recovery manager and have also uninstalled and updated the validity sensor but still no go. Here are some other details:
Laptop model: Dv6-3121nr
Operating System: Windows 7 premium 64bit
Validiy Sensor DDK version: 4.1.139.0
Half the times I try to sign into my favourite sites with log-ins I type in my details ,pres enter, press NO for do I want simple pass to add to list and then nothing happens. If I press sign in again then simplepass pops up again and nothing happens until I restart my laptop then its usully OK again.
Can I safely just uninstall simplepass without creating future problems as I don't want to use it anyway.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased an Envy 15-J108la notebook about a month ago (Windows 8.1 64). I also bought a Microsoft bluetooth mouse to use with it.
First I noticed mouse stoped working randomly, maybe 2 times a day. Sometimes it was enough to turn it off and on again to recover it, but sometimes I had to reboot.
I updated the bluetooth driver (Intel Bluetooth 4.0 Driver, 2014-01-18, Version 3.1), problem persisted but seemed to occur less frequently.
Today after installing an update for the wireless adapter the device manager reported that the Intel Bluetooth 4.0 device was faulting. Tried to dissable and re-enable but the device simply dissapeared. Now device manager reports a "Unknown USB device" with error 43, and bluetoth devices are not detected, no matter how many times I reboot.
Laptop is only 9 months old. I did all of the updates and then my touchscreen stopped working - that was 4 days ago. Today I did a system restore to the point before the 1st critical update (9/24/14). It still does not work. Did it corrupt my driver? And if so, what is the name of the driver? How can I restore the touch screen...

I purchased the HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC at the beginning of Sept. I immediately upgraded to Windows 8.1. But I have never been able to use the fingerprint scanner to log in to Windows. I don't know if this is a result of W8.1 because I never tried it with W8.
I updated the Simple Pass drivers and the BIOS, but that hasn't worked. What are my options?
I just rebuilt my HP ENVY 15-j145tx Notebook PC to Windows 8.1 Professional but under other Devices, I am having two problems. One is a 'PCI Simple COmmunications Controller' in error with the following descriptions:

The laptop was running on AC at that moment.
It didn't show any errors which could predict an defect. The only thing that was a little strange was that it requested permission to update java everyday, sometimes even 2 times per day. And especially when I was watching movies fullscreen offline or online. But I thought that Oracle is doing a lot of updates.
Does it have a fuse which can be checked?
I have an HP envy m6 1178sa and recently the sound stopped playing. Uninstalled the sound software and downloaded a new one and it was working fine...but then after the laptop is off( because of low battery), when I put the laptop on again, there is no sound.

I originally had my blu-ray drive working fine and was able to play bd/dvd and install from cd-rom.
However the drive doesn't even appear as a drive anymore in Windows Explorer and doesn't play or install anything.
Firstly the dvd rom stopped working about 6 months ago.Can live without it but now after getting a blue screen it wont boot or the screen is black.Connected it to a monitor and when it does choose to boot there is no display on the laptop screen until the login screen appears.Ran some tests on the HDD drive when its running but comes up ok.Is it likely to be a failing MB or some corruption on my OP system.

When I go to Explorer, my laptop also can't find any of my libraries (documents, pictures, etc.).
