Oct 20, 2014Half the times I try to sign into my favourite sites with log-ins I type in my details ,pres enter, press NO for do I want simple pass to add to list and then nothing happens. If I press sign in again then simplepass pops up again and nothing happens until I restart my laptop then its usully OK again.
Can I safely just uninstall simplepass without creating future problems as I don't want to use it anyway.

Feb 27, 2011I'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader and HP simple pass identity protection software that came with my Dv6-3121nr. For some reason all of a sudden since this morning it won't work. There are no lights on the sensor and it does not respond to any swipe/movement. When I launch the Simple pass software and go to the fingerprints section, it says the finger print reader is not connected. Interestingly when I go to device manager I don't see any biometric devices listed under there. I read on another thread that some options from under biometic devices in device manager fixed the problem.
I've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling Simple pass from the recovery manager and have also uninstalled and updated the validity sensor but still no go. Here are some other details:

Operating System: Windows 7 premium 64bit

HP Envy 15 :: Can't Log On To Windows With Simple Password
Oct 26, 2014I purchased the HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC at the beginning of Sept. I immediately upgraded to Windows 8.1. But I have never been able to use the fingerprint scanner to log in to Windows. I don't know if this is a result of W8.1 because I never tried it with W8.
I updated the Simple Pass drivers and the BIOS, but that hasn't worked. What are my options?

updating the driverreinstalled original drivertroubleshoot compatibility on the originaltried a battery remove / hold power button option These have not fixed my scroll at all. No other gestures are working either... The Synaptics pointing devide driver is installed at this time.
The only thing I CAN DO is point-and-click on by touchpad.

Jun 9, 2014I have followed advice on changing settings on the mousepad in the control panel, in my settings it shows I have enabled (ticked) all of 2 finger scrolling vertical and horizontal and one finger scrolling vertical and horizontal, and have clicked apply, however the touchpad still won't let me scroll on pages. All i can use the touchpad for is to click and moe the pointer around the page. It used to work until recently and I only bought the laptop in January. This is very frustrating as i bought the laptop for study use as an open uni student I have to read a lot of journals so thesudden lack of non scrolling is extremely awkward.
I have tried the changing of settings (once I found the control panel) already so how to get this to work again.

Oct 15, 2014I bought a an HP Pavilion g6-2288ca. Uninstalled Windows 8 and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.My left USB ports are not working. I'm assuming USB3. They have an exclamation mark beside them under device manager. USB Host controller .I've read many solutions, none worked.
#1 Checked the HP drivers page. They don't have ANYTHING listed for USB for the g6-2288ca nor for Windows 7 .
#2 I called HP, with no support. They said to check with Microsoft (????)
#3 I did all the Windows updates.
#4 I installed the full AMD Catalyst driver and software.
#5 Updated Bios. (tried to see if I can disable USB3 in the BIOS).. But it wasn't there.
My USB ports are still not working.

Jul 13, 2014I'm not sure if it's caused by the Windows 8 update from a few days back, but the problem started around then.
The audio on my laptop is not working. The mute stays on, even when I press the physcial keyboard button to enable sound, and try to enable sound with my mouse from the volume menu. Nothing has audio.
Laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC running Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit.
I've seen some other people mentioning a problem like this recently...
