My simple pass is not working. I check the biometric device the software is up to date, and it gives me a code 19 fault. On my programs installed i do not see the simple pass program no longer. how can i get the correct software to reinstall?

When I manually click on Simple Pass it won't open... that is to say the page starts to come on, but then it flashes off and won't open.

I have an HP ENVY dv6 Notebook with Sinple Pass on it which was working until a few weeks ago. I don't know how to reset it. I don't think I have done anything to uninstall it unless by error. The light no longer flashes and my fingerprint won't take.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader and HP simple pass identity protection software that came with my Dv6-3121nr. For some reason all of a sudden since this morning it won't work. There are no lights on the sensor and it does not respond to any swipe/movement. When I launch the Simple pass software and go to the fingerprints section, it says the finger print reader is not connected. Interestingly when I go to device manager I don't see any biometric devices listed under there. I read on another thread that some options from under biometic devices in device manager fixed the problem.
I've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling Simple pass from the recovery manager and have also uninstalled and updated the validity sensor but still no go. Here are some other details:
Laptop model: Dv6-3121nr
Operating System: Windows 7 premium 64bit
Validiy Sensor DDK version: 4.1.139.0
Half the times I try to sign into my favourite sites with log-ins I type in my details ,pres enter, press NO for do I want simple pass to add to list and then nothing happens. If I press sign in again then simplepass pops up again and nothing happens until I restart my laptop then its usully OK again.
Can I safely just uninstall simplepass without creating future problems as I don't want to use it anyway.

I purchased the HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC at the beginning of Sept. I immediately upgraded to Windows 8.1. But I have never been able to use the fingerprint scanner to log in to Windows. I don't know if this is a result of W8.1 because I never tried it with W8.
I updated the Simple Pass drivers and the BIOS, but that hasn't worked. What are my options?
I just rebuilt my HP ENVY 15-j145tx Notebook PC to Windows 8.1 Professional but under other Devices, I am having two problems. One is a 'PCI Simple COmmunications Controller' in error with the following descriptions:

Mine is an Inspiron 14z, running window 7 ultimate. The last 2 days, my battery will only charge up to 70% then it just stay there although the icon shows "plugged in, charging".
I've tried a couple things:
-Unplug-plug
-Pull out the battery put it back on.
-Uninstall/ Install Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method battery
-Restore to point before this occur.
My Studio 1555 is not passing post startup.It will pass the Dell splash screen with a lot of beeps that I cannot identify, but afterwards, will get stuck with a black screen and a flashing underscore icon at the top left corner. What are some possible problems/fixes/tests? I'm wondering if its time I bought a new laptop. What are the chances of my hard driving still being okay?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI recent;y installed a version of windows on my Dell Laptop, Inspiron 6000. I worked for a week or two then when I turned it on a couple days ago, it won't go pass the black screen with the blinking white line. A user some where on this site on an other post that had similar problems said that it to re-install and delete the existing partition and create another one with 120GB. I did but when creating another partition, I tried to type in the 122880 MB (122880MB = 120GB), and upon pressing ENTER, the numbers 122880 goes back to the number of MB of the partition disk space I had previously. I hope this all make sense. I do not have the money to buy another laptop. I have a Windows XP CD, but not the original. The laptop worked fine before with this version.
To fix the blinking line on the start-up black screen, all I need to do is to re-install windows XP and change the partition to 120GB. But every time I try to change the number of MB, it doesn't work but reverts back to the original number. Is there another way to fix the blinking-white-line-on-the-start-up-screen?
Also, I tried to use the repair control...doesn't work.
I own a Envy Dv6 operating Windows 8.1... After one particular shut down, all my USB ports refused to work.
I checked my device manager and it showed that all my USB controllers are working properly, but under other devices three new unknown device showed up with an yellow triangle containing an exclaimation mark showed up. Right clicked and it says that the driver is not installed, but I can't seem to find any that the system is willing to recognise.Without USB ports these days, I find it difficult to function properly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to repair a ZD7000 series laptop. The initial problem was that it had a broken AC Jack. I got a new AC jack and soldered that in. While I was at it, I also got a 3.2GHz P4 out of another laptop to replace the one that was in this laptop.
Now the laptop does not pass the boot screen. It will just display the HP splash page, then reboot. No BIOS beeps. It does this on both AC power and battery.
I have tried different ram as well, with no luck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Hp Envy m6 notebook PC m6-n168ca to replace my last Envy with a corrupt OS. I have a Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 4000 to use with it and I plugged in the usb connector and it installed automatically and successfully apparently. Unfortunately, the mouse is not being recognized on the screen. It works on my other laptops so i know it's not the mouse. This is my first touch screen laptop though so I am wondering if it has something to do with that? The trackpad mouse function works fine but I need to be able to use the mouse and the touch pad. Is this possible? Is there something I have to toggle on or off? How to change the mouse click settings and stuff.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver, everything says i should ave the IDT HD audio driver but it ony lets me downoad the Realtek audio driver. First I thought it was dust that was clogging the fan so I cleaned it with the air compressed can. I tired that and still did not work. So I got curious and opened my laptop to see why the fan was not working. It turned out that the fan would start then stop start and keep doing that. Even when running a game (or any other high performance application) it would still do that.
My wireless button will not light up blue. Pressing it only switches airplane mode on and off. I tried a hard reset and it didn't work. I have a HP Envy TS 17 Notebook. Product number is E8A11UA#ABA. How to solve this?

When I try and use the USB ports on my laptop, the system does not acknowledge the device is plugged in, nor allows the device to operate. There are no error messages and the safetly remove hardware icon does not appear. This problem began after I ran a couple of Windows Updates before shutting my computer down for the night.
The devices worked properly before but have since stopped. Multiple devices have been tried, but to no avail.
I did a clean install, only missing is a:
PCI Simple Communications Controller
What is that? And where do I find it?

I downloaded all the drivers at Dell Product Support Website. Everything worked OK except that on my Device Manager, I am missing one driver, that is for PCI Simple Communications Controller, any link where I could download the driver?

If I had used a new/different password when I set this up, I would have written it down and I can't find anything in the file that would suggest I didn't use my normal PC password.
Is it possible that I never reset the password? If so, is there a standard password that the laptop is shipped with?

Just as recent as today, when I plugged in my headphones no sound came through. I tried another pair, but got the same result. This laptop is only about 4 and a half months old (Got it in mid-January), and this is a real bummer.
