Matte 15" UMBP 1440x900
Last year, when Apple released their new MacBook Pros in June, they only had a glossy version of the 15" model. Then in August, they came out with a matte version of the 15" model.
Now this year, Apple came out with only a glossy version of the 15" standard resolution (1440x900) model. I'm wondering if the same thing as last year will happen again - will Apple come out with a matte version of the 15" standard resolution model in a few months?
The matte display option is available today for 15" MBP on the Apple site.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone know where to get a MATTE, and not Glossy Vaio CW 14 inch laptop? I have seen one in a youtube videos,
and read somewhere the Matte option is available, but doesn't seem to be in Sonys site
which Sony model apart from the X11 Netbook has a matte screen, as in anti-glare screen. Also I need to be able to see what's on the screen so for 13 inch a basic resolution. Am I right in assuming there is a Vaio Z series with a matte screen? I am very sensitive to glossy and some LED screens.. I hope Sony's LED is a good one.

View 10 Replies View RelatedAre matte screens available on any Pavillion systems? I've searched and searched, but they pretty much all seem to be 'brightview' or 'infinity brightview', which are glossy, right?
I don't want to start this whole 'matte vs. glossy' debate again, but needless to say I work in a bright office and my DV4T's reflections are killing me
So far I've found the business Elitebooks look nice and have matte screens, but they're a tad behind, say, the HDX systems in terms of the available configurations.
The screen will be used for photo editing so accurate colors and good contrast are a must.
I do fair bit on on site editing and that sometimes means outdoors so antiglare would be great, but I'd rather hunt down dark shades with the glossy if it means superior display.
Oh and any advice on ordering? Is ordering by phone better? Lots of people seem to do this instead of ordering online.
why people are saying contrast/detail sucks on the Dell E-Series LED?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs anyone here familiar with the "finish" option on the Studio? I was told over the phone that if I get black or white, it will come in a glossy finish, and if I get one of the colors, it will come in a textured matte finish. I prefer the matte finish, because glossy plastic finishes are a big problem---my palms stick to the plastic.

After reading about the reflections on the covert I think I'm going to go the Matte but can't find any reviews on it. What's the quality like?
I can't seem to find out if the screen is Matte or Glossy?
From what I've been reading the screen in the covert is way too glossy so I want a Matte screen, but still LED.
but I can confirm just now that I took the plastic cover off b/c I could not stand the glare anymore, and it's a very nice matte screen underneath!
Now I am going to follow the other bold gentleman and cut out that clear plastic, leaving myself with an antiglare xps 1640!
The plastic is actually 1 mm thick as the xps1340 poster (livincali) stated. I was worried that for some reason the xps 16 would be slightly differently built than the xps 13, but it's not with regards to the screen.
I am confident that the plastic can be cut out with an exacto knife, if not just a pair of scissors.
I do not have any sandpaper .....
I was so looking forward to buying a Dell Studio 1555 in a Jet Black Colour with Matte Finish.
But only the Black Chainlink is available. I personally think that the Black Chainlink is UGLY. I think im gonna cry...
Dell is finally starting to help me out as far as the screen glossiness and some other issues I've been having.
Before I tell them what parts I need in a replacement, I need to know if the M6400 RGBLED screen (not the Covet) is matte finish?
I'd really appreciate it - I can't trust their sales staff to actually know. My gut instinct would be that the E2E RGBLED screen is glossy, while the other is matte... but I don't want to replace my glossy with another glossy!
I am considering some laptops and the sony vaio is one of them. I have heard great things about the screen but it is glossy, something I have sworn off all these years. I have seeing reflections on my screen. how the anti-reflective screen performs?

Similar to this but i'm just going to get it pin striped. If I were to just pinstripe it, think apple would void my warranty?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am going to be getting a refurb uMBP towards the end of the week and I am trying to decide between the 256mb and the 512mb versions of the 9600M. I will be using it mostly for surfing, blogging, programming, photoshop and gaming. Obviously the gaming is what really poses the question.
I plan to play things like WoW, Aion, L4D2, Borderlands, CoD:MW2, Batman Arkham Asylum, and the like. Obviously this will be done in windows via boot camp.
Is the 512mb absolutely necessary to play these games with decent settings or will I be fine with the 256mb as long as I have the discrete gfx (i.e. I know I wouldn't be able to play most of these on the 13" uMBP which is why I am already in the 15" category).
My one month old UMBP has some annoying glitch on the spotlight. Every time I type a letter on the spotlight, the whole spotlight box (including the search results) flickers. It didn't happen with my early mbp before, and I didn't realize until today, so I'm not sure if it happens after I install anything. any way to troubleshoot this? I tried reindexing the hard drive, but it doesn't resolve the problem.

I'm running the 160gb 5400 rpm stock hard drive on the late 2009 uMBP.
Not sure if this is normal or not so if you fellow NBRers of the Mac subforum.
Anyone knows if the mid 2009 uMBP has any issues with the [url], like mismatched case slots with uMBP ports and such, since they changed it a bit with the SD slot?

In an interview with Bloomberg, Robert Chen with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. said the new iPhone will go into production as early as April, and will be available to customers in June or July. He said the plastic back panel of the phone could have a touch-sensitive solid shell, much like on the Magic Mouse.
Indeed, Apple in recent years has described the benefits of touch-sensitive enclosures for future handheld devices in patent filings like the one made in July of 2006 entitled: "Electronic Device Having Display and Surrounding Touch Sensitive Bezel for User Interface and Control."
The new hardware could also include an updated version of the iPhone operating system, Chen said.
"Apple’s going to put a lot of innovation, not just on the hardware, but also on the software of the new iPhone," he told Bloomberg.......................
i ordered a 15.6" studio 15 with a LCD panel 1080p (1920x1080). i wanna switch to 720p (1280x720) because i think it's a waste of money, especially if i don't need it (i'll be using it for homework, college, and occasional video games/movies).
1. what are the advantages of 1080p vs. lower resolutions?
2.how would the screen look compared to lower resolutions?
3.how much battery power would it consume, compared to lower resolutions?
4.would it have any other effects on your eyes, compared to lower resolutions?
