a quick review of the Matte LED version of the M6400?
After reading about the reflections on the covert I think I'm going to go the Matte but can't find any reviews on it. What's the quality like?
I can't seem to find out if the screen is Matte or Glossy?
From what I've been reading the screen in the covert is way too glossy so I want a Matte screen, but still LED.
Dell is finally starting to help me out as far as the screen glossiness and some other issues I've been having.
Before I tell them what parts I need in a replacement, I need to know if the M6400 RGBLED screen (not the Covet) is matte finish?
I'd really appreciate it - I can't trust their sales staff to actually know. My gut instinct would be that the E2E RGBLED screen is glossy, while the other is matte... but I don't want to replace my glossy with another glossy!
I see a lot of "can't run CS4" and "can't run 3dsmax" comments, but not so many "CS4 is smoking on my machine" comments. Is poor performance in certain apps a constant with M6400s? I hear a lot of good things about the display, but it won't really be worth it if the machine is slow.

It seems 9.5 mm high Sata Blu Ray drives do not exisit out there
does anyone know who makes it and what the model/codes are for this screen?
Matte 15" UMBP 1440x900
Yup me again, in my hunt to determine if M6400 is right for me as it costs just about as much as a used car, I want to make sure its a good investment before I buy it.
What is the main difference with the M6400 and the M6400 Covet?
I configured both with the same specs and the Covet is about $900 more in price?
Does orange paint really cost that much?
Do all Dell E5400 have a matte screen? I want a matte one not glossy. Also when I choose LED screen for my custom E5400 it would not let me. And in general how is this laptop for basic use?

View 10 Replies View RelatedIs anyone here familiar with the "finish" option on the Studio? I was told over the phone that if I get black or white, it will come in a glossy finish, and if I get one of the colors, it will come in a textured matte finish. I prefer the matte finish, because glossy plastic finishes are a big problem---my palms stick to the plastic.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAnyone know where to get a MATTE, and not Glossy Vaio CW 14 inch laptop? I have seen one in a youtube videos,
and read somewhere the Matte option is available, but doesn't seem to be in Sonys site
which Sony model apart from the X11 Netbook has a matte screen, as in anti-glare screen. Also I need to be able to see what's on the screen so for 13 inch a basic resolution. Am I right in assuming there is a Vaio Z series with a matte screen? I am very sensitive to glossy and some LED screens.. I hope Sony's LED is a good one.
View 10 Replies View Relatedbut I can confirm just now that I took the plastic cover off b/c I could not stand the glare anymore, and it's a very nice matte screen underneath!
Now I am going to follow the other bold gentleman and cut out that clear plastic, leaving myself with an antiglare xps 1640!
The plastic is actually 1 mm thick as the xps1340 poster (livincali) stated. I was worried that for some reason the xps 16 would be slightly differently built than the xps 13, but it's not with regards to the screen.
I am confident that the plastic can be cut out with an exacto knife, if not just a pair of scissors.
I do not have any sandpaper .....
I was so looking forward to buying a Dell Studio 1555 in a Jet Black Colour with Matte Finish.
But only the Black Chainlink is available. I personally think that the Black Chainlink is UGLY. I think im gonna cry...
it does seem that some models actually does have a matte screen, take a look, I will write to them and ask what model exactly is posted here:
View 10 Replies View RelatedAre matte screens available on any Pavillion systems? I've searched and searched, but they pretty much all seem to be 'brightview' or 'infinity brightview', which are glossy, right?
I don't want to start this whole 'matte vs. glossy' debate again, but needless to say I work in a bright office and my DV4T's reflections are killing me
So far I've found the business Elitebooks look nice and have matte screens, but they're a tad behind, say, the HDX systems in terms of the available configurations.
The screen will be used for photo editing so accurate colors and good contrast are a must.
I do fair bit on on site editing and that sometimes means outdoors so antiglare would be great, but I'd rather hunt down dark shades with the glossy if it means superior display.
Oh and any advice on ordering? Is ordering by phone better? Lots of people seem to do this instead of ordering online.
Last year, when Apple released their new MacBook Pros in June, they only had a glossy version of the 15" model. Then in August, they came out with a matte version of the 15" model.
Now this year, Apple came out with only a glossy version of the 15" standard resolution (1440x900) model. I'm wondering if the same thing as last year will happen again - will Apple come out with a matte version of the 15" standard resolution model in a few months?
The matte display option is available today for 15" MBP on the Apple site.

View 15 Replies View RelatedThe LCD is bright and clear when viewed head-on, but the slightest change in vertical angle causes the brightness and colors to vary like mad, making the system unbearable to use on my lap.
I tried to figure out who made this particular LCD, but the intel graphics driver makes it hard to get the EDID info.
The only thing that sort of worked was MonInfo:
http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm
And that only worked by getting the raw data string from the EDID structure, which indicates the LCD is part number "NU412.
Do you think your card is outdated? Are you having any problems playing any games with it? I'm not asking about the hottest new title games, there are few computers that can play those anyway.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm about to pull the trigger on either the 13 or the 16. It's really come down to how well the above to games run for you (those are the two that have me hooked at the moment, so i'll be familiar with how I'm used to it performing compared to your settings).
I'm currently on an Asus G2S-A1 thats overheating like crazy. Time to upgrade. It's specs: 2.2Ghz core 2, 4gb ram, 5400rpm hdd, 8600m-gt 256.
Will the XPS13 with a 2.66ghz, 4gb ram, 7200rpm hdd, and the N10-M 512mb gpu perform equal or better then what I'm currently on? I ask because I'm having trouble finding a comparable benchmark.
This wont be my primary gaming rig, it will be portable entertainment. BUT it does need to be able to run on par with what i have or better to entertain me Should I be happy with the 13 or do you think the 16 would be better. The only reason I'd go with teh 16 is for the Radeon 4670 1gb if the 13 has problems with wow and L4D.
If you play WoW or L4D on the 13 (or even the 16) I would GREATLY appreciate the peace of mind i would get from hearing back what your FPS are and what detail/quality settings you're getting them at.
I'm considering undervolting my Studio XPS 13 that is arriving tomorrow due to the well-known heat issues of that laptop.
I was just wondering if anyone with other Dell laptops (or the Studio XPS 13 ) have undervolted, and if they've run into any problems and how they like it now.
all m170 owners out there.. what is the latest game that you have played on your system and how good does it play? the last game i had bought and played with mine is warhammer dark crusade.. haven't been gaming for awhile and interested in buying a very good game..
View 15 Replies View Relatedi have a overheating issue with my note and i am kind of desperate about it...
I am trying to eliminate the problem right now.. And i am thinking about the fans.
Now i wanna know if the situation is the same with you m1710 owners.
When i (using fangui) put both fans on full speed i am mostly hearing the one on the left (the one close to the cpu), and the second fan is actually pretty quiet...
Is this true with your notes too ?
Or are they making the same amount of noise?
My impression is that the right fan is a lower power fan or something, maybe that's my problem ?
do any software programs (notebook hardware control comes to mind) recognize your additional multiplers? Say if you boot up from bios with it set to 2.33ghz, does nhc automatically recognize the additional multipliers allowing control to 3ghz+ etc?
The reason I'm wondering is that if it does, it may be the case that even without bios support the t7600G may be able to be overclocked on 1705s (I don't believe anyone has modded the 1710 bios to work in the 1705s, right?) ... although the utility may be small because t7600gs are only available through dell right...just some pondering
