I have a Printer, 2 Macbook Pros, and 4 Vista PCs connected to an Airport Extreme. The 2 Macs see the printer just fine. But I couldn't get the Vista machines to see the printer.
View 4 RepliesI work with my mac (Macbook Unibody Late 2008) and my buddy with his crappy netbook running Windows XP. It seems that his netbook is able to find significally more wireless networks than I can get with my airport card. The networks we both can find, his netbook always has a FAR better signal than what my Macbook and pull. Can anybody let me know if theres some kind of issue with my airport card or is there something i dont know about with wireless networks....
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had WiFi with my trusty AirPort Extreme...until I installed AirPort Express. Now I have a whopping nothing!
AirPort Express keeps blinking the amber light of death (with internet connected), and will not transmit a signal. {Yes I have troubleshooted this thing over and over again to no avail}.
I have also switched the internet cable back over to my trusty AirPort Extreme, which will give me a green light, which promptly throws my network name into the list of available networks, but there is no signal strength displayed (in bars) and the Mac cannot connect to it.
I hope someone out there in MacLand might have a possible solution before both of these non-working airport devices find themselves flying out the window!
I setup the dual band Airport extreme station a few weeks ago and my Macbooks Pros have been working no problems. Blazing speeds.
When it comes to my 2 desktop PCs, though, a lot of problems.
My one PC connects and says it is connected, but the internet does not work. The page does not display at all.
My other PC (which Im on right now), also connects, but only Firefox works. IE does not display the page. I think FIrefox does work on both PCs, I just dont have it installed on the first one to verify.
What is going on? Even my iphone works flawlessly.
bought the newest airport extreme after my DIR-655 modem crapped out on me. I was surprised to see that the touted feature of MIMO is not supported by any of the current Macs.

So I have another router (Asus WL-530G) and I am thinking of using either of the two routers as a base and the other one as an extender.
I have tried extending the Asus network with the Airport.I got this message:"The network you selected cannot be extended"
I tried setting up a WDS network with Airport Extreme as main, remote or relay. None worked, it said no other apple airport device can be found.
Is this a compatibility issue, or did i miss something?
I have 2 computers at home: the Macbook Pro and a desktop. I was thinking of getting an Airport Extreme router... I want to be able to access the hard disk of the desktop, from the Macbook. Can Airport Extreme do that?

View 10 Replies View RelatedUp until yesterday I could print from both the desktop and laptop.  My printer is a HPC310 All in One.  I can print from the desktop but not the laptop.  Laptop is Windows 7 professional 64 bit.  When I click on printer on my laptop it shows 5 items waiting to be printed.  I have made no changes and all worked fine until yesterday.  Today I finally e-mailed myself a document from my laptop - opened the e-mail on the desktop and printed it out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my 13"mbp for a few months now, and recently the internet just stops working, nothing comes up nothing disconnects, websites will just continue to say "loading" and eventually brings up the failed to open page, if I disconnect my airport and reconnect it works fine it has started to do this more and more now and usually ranges from about 5-15 minutes. One night I got extremely pissed off as it did it every 5 minutes for 1/2 an hour or so. Every now and then it will work fine for an hour or two of surfing the internet. I am pretty sure it is something with my airport and my wireless router. I have used other wireless routers and not once have I had this problem, and while I am surfing my gf can use the internet on her computer or i phone without being disconnected its just me. I have tried reseting my router and that did nothing. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do or if there is something I can check, it is an older extreme wireless G dlink router.

I currently use an orange livebox for the wireless at home, signal is great everywhere except in my bedroom, where I would really like to have access to the internet, but am currently just out of range.
Am i right in thinking that the said item increases the range of the current wifi meaning i could connect to the internet in my room?
my girlfriend just bought the airport express and is having trouble setting it up. She said she hooked up the express to the wall and connected it to her dsl modem and then connected the modem to the ethrenet port in the wall. After install AirPort utility on hermacbookshe tried setting up the express but it can't find it. The express has a flash orange light and I read the manual and it says it can't establish a network connection. We've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and tried multiple ethrenet cords but it still doesn't work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my macbook I noted that when I just switch the airport ON, in order to search for some WIFI networks, the macbook completely freezes if I have the 3G usb already connected to internet.
This happens also if the 3G pen is only searching the 3G network (after being plugged) and then I switch the airport ON.
Why does this happen?

I live at a Loft where everyone tenant has their own ATT 2wire modem. Periodically, the connection will drop and sometimes, it won't connect back. The 2wire modem at my loft WAS WPA protected and I've read that if you change it to WEP, it would solve the problem. I thought this was legitimate as my 2wire modem back home is WEP protected and my connection never dropped back at home.
So I changed it to WEP here at the Lofts and for about a day, there was no dropped connections. Now, the dropping is back even on WEP.
I have just installed the HP 4635 printer to my network. All devices were printing yesterday wirelessly. Today the laptop device has a print job that I have requested to delete. It has said "deleting" for two days and I can not get it "unstuck". each time I send a new print job to the que it goes in line "behind" the print job that is stuck in "deleting" mode. I have tried re-starting. re-booting, ctrl, alt, delete. nothing seeings to get this print job "unstuck" and deleted.Â
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15r and a Dell v313w I purchased in November 2010, both are wireless and connected through a gateway/router that have been very great over the years but about a year or so ago I noticed each time I would try to print out multiple documents I could only get one document to print out, it could include one sheet or many sheets . Any others documents would be stuck in the print queue listed as " printing " but would never print out unless I restarted the computer then it would print out all documents one after another just as they had been entered complete with all sheets per document accounted for and in correct order.
After the printer had finished printing all the documents if I needed to print another document I would have the same headache all over again and the document would remain in the queue until I restarted the computer again.I'm not a spring chicken by any means and have to think logically went operating the computer or installing software so many of the technical jargon is something I really don't understand.
I just decided to get an 1710 and a workgroup printer and I have a home network a my house. I really had no concerns about people hacking into my network until now. What steps do I have to take to secure my home network? I don't want everyone from my neighborhood printing on my printer.

I t was working well until lately when it became slower and slower, I formated it and reinstalled everything but the problem persisted
I did a Windows experience index and the memory operations and CPU scores are 2,8 when initially they where easily over 5 in both categories, it means a great degradation
You can see the processor I have in my Signature, Core 2 Extreme X9000.
Basically, I've never dabbled in overclocking before. However I have been running a lot of CPU intensive programs recently, and decided it might be time to try and overclock the CPU. I have a few queries though.
1: Is it normal for the fans to be on full blast when overclocked? I put it up to 3.4GHz, and as soon as I started my computer it sounds like it's going to take off...
2: Will this void my warranty? In the BIOS Dell says it can cause problems and run down the life quickly - However it doesn't say it'll void the warranty. Confirmation anyone?
3: In reference to question 1, if @ 3.4GHz it will continue to sound like a jumbo jet, what speed/s can I go to without it maxing out the fan?
4: My temperature for my CPU is currently jumping from between 48 and 61 degrees quite rapidly. Is this normal when overclocked?
I've always been interested in Readyboost... It seems really clever to use flash memory for what it's good at, random data access. But usually flash drives and SD cards are very slow, like 3MB/sec.
Well I discovered that Sandisk makes a Memory Stick rated for 30MB/sec. I always thought Sony was foolish for creating another proprietary standard (a la Betamax), but in this case it seems to be the best for raw speed, and good for me since I can dedicate my VAIO CW's MS slot to Readyboost. I figured for $29 I might as well buy one and do some experimentation
So far I've done an HD Tune benchmark, but I can't test write speed because Windows doesn't allow you to delete a partition on a MS (HD Tune requires NO partition to exist). If anyone knows how to do this, let me know. Right now it's formatted as FAT32, but I don't know how that influences HD Tune.....
I am having a problem with my TravelMate 800.
The mouse and keyboard are involved. When attempting to type (in Word or in a web-browser), the cursor will immediately scroll downdown, and will only stop when pressing the "escape" key. When you start typing again, the problem re-occurs, making typing extremely frustrating. The "page down" key also doesn't work.
When restarting, a blank screen will appear with a blinking "-" cursor at the top of the screen, and the notebook will beep nonstop until you press a key. Windows will then slowly load. It is not a virus problem as I've checked using Norton Antivirus, and removed
spyware.
I believe it's most probably a software problem, and have tried to repair my system, but the recovery CDs didn't work. I got fed up and tried to format the notebook.... at first, the system CD loaded, but wouldn't go anywhere and there was a "not ready reading from drive z: abort, retry or fail" option, and none of the options worked. After attempting to reboot the second time, it would come up to a point saying:
