i transferred contents from my last computer using Migration Assistant, but it's happened twice where the sound icon on the top menu dissapears (without me doing so, and noone else uses this computer)
W530 on Windows 7-64 bit. My sound bar (the one that indicates the sound progress as one presses the sound button) is missing for no known reason. What the problem may be or on how to restore it?
I have a dv7-7270ca notebook and since a restart due to windows 8 updates I now have a red x on the speaker icon. I installed the HP driver for this model but it has an error in device manager that says:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
I did run an audio test using the shut down-F2 and passed and could hear the sounds in the test.
I have a new T440 running win 7 pro 64bit. The audio is not working.
When I first boot, the sound icon in the task bar shows that the system is muted, but the mute button (f1) is not lit.
-If I press the mute button the light goes on and the indicator on the task bar shows the system is no longer muted. -If I have sound playing, when I toggle from the light on and the tray indicating not in mute to the ligt off and the tray indicating the system is in mute, I get a split second sound.
I have installed the realtek device drivers I have installed the lenovo system update and all of the critical and reccomended updates. The device manager indicates that everything is working properly.
This seems to happen fairly often. Yesterday I had my computer on standby and plugged into the mains for several hours in the afternoon. I turned it on, shut it down (without looking at the battery status) and went somewhere and when I turned it back on the charge was at 6%.
Today I was using the laptop and the charge was at 70%, I shut the computer down and put it in my bag. Turned it on again in a couple of hours and the battery again is at 6%.
I was using my inspiron 1545 the other night and it was charging the battery, then i heard a pop from the left hand side of the keyboard. At this point i noticed that the battery icon no longer had the plug icon on top showing it was charging. I then looked at my power adapter and noticed the blue light was not on on the brick.
Finding this I unplugged the brick and then plugged it back in..POP from the laptop again....and the blue light on the brick went off again. This happens everytime.
So I am guessing there is something wrong in the laptop and the brick turns off maybe activating its short circuit mode protect. Obviously, this means I can not charge the battery.
If i remove the battery and try to run it on mains adapter it POPs as soon as you plug it in and the laptop won;t boot as it has no power...
is it possible to add some file type to a flash drive / external hard disk to give a nice icon on the desktop for that particular drive when its plugged in? i know how to change the generic icon, but thats not what i want.
My problem is after using Candybar, I somehow got rid of the original trash can icon, and it was replaced with something else. I like the original wire mesh one. Is there anywhere I can download the original one? Or if someone can email me their trashempty.png and trashfull.png files. I'm new to OS X.
I have the latest version of Adium download on my new Macbook Pro but for some reason my Display Picture Icon only shows the Blue/Green MSN Buddy on the other end of the party.
The other party cannot see my Icon Picture of which I have set in my preferences.
Anyone else have this problem or know how to resolve it? I use MSN Messenger.
Sometimes when I am typing on my Mid 2009 macbook white there is a sort of buzzing sound, I have ruled this down to the magnet on the top left of the screen as if i put somthing magnetic near it i can hear the magnet moving slightly, I havent had this issue with my 17" MBP
Is this anything to worry about or is it a common problem? it only happens when the screen is at certain angles
So the sound of my CD drive has started to bother me, I don't know if this is what slot loading CD drives sound like or not. So I made a video [url] Does anyone else have that grinding like sound?
I have an early 08 MBP (non unibody) and I want to hook it up to my samsung HDTV to play movies. I have a DVI to HDMI cable that covers video and it works fine but so far that makes it work like a really REALLY big monitor. Since DVI doesn't output sound what do I use to get the sound to output to the tv as well?
Does this work? [url]
I notice in one of the reviews one person states they used this to connect their MBP to their HDTV, I was just wondering if it would work for my model as well?
have you ever noticed, sometimes, a kind of popping noise coming from macbook speakers (I have the alu one) when you are launching a program that will require the use of speakers? (never happened in itunes, it occurred only when launching quick time videos or some videos / music from the web...)
As said before, it is not always occurring but it happens only sometimes. Is it maybe linked to the osx putting speakers in standby when not needeed for a while (it happens also with electrical supply) ? I read something on the net about a drawback for this behavior inside leopard, but is it really the case?
Moreover, this 'popping noise' intensity is constant whatever the preset volume of the speakers is, and, up to now, I have never heard it with the speakers set off.
While watching a DVD last night in OSX, I noticed a buzzing sound in the right speaker when I was above 70% of the volume.. At half the volume, I don't hear the buzzing noise. It's kind if annoying especially when you're watching long movies. Anyone else have this problem?
Oh yeah, and my CPU temperature went up to 90C. Is watching a DVD that cpu intensive?
I was hunting around inside of my Console logs today for something and ran across something peculiar, I've confirmed with a few other people that it is showing up on their computers as well and it seems to be only on Mac OS X 10.5.6.
The specific error is:
Code: kernel Sound assertion "0 == mMikeyPeripheralInterruptSource" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-162.1.37/AppleMikeyDriver/AppleMikeyACPI.cpp" at line 289 goto Exit Out of curiousity, is anyone else seeing this in their Console logs after updating?
When the laptop is on and I pick it up to move it I would often hear a loud CLICK sound coming from the HD. It had me freaked out that something was loose or that the heads were scratching the platters.
I just came across an article explaining what this noise has been. It is the sound of the read/write heads parking because of the "Sudden Motion Sensor" built into the laptop. It senses the rapid movement when I pick up the laptop and then it parks the heads to prevent scratching the platters... that is the click sound of the heads parking.
The sensor is a tri-axis accelerometer that detects sudden changes in "position and accelerated movement".
Anyways, I tested this to see if it was the "sudden motion sensor" parking the heads: - first I confirmed that the sound would still occur when picking up the laptop and tilting it quickly while still on - then I checked the sensor's settings to see if it was really on by running a command I found in the linked article. - then I turned off the sensor (that command is also in the article). - then I tested by picking up the laptop again and tilting it quickly...
no more CLICK
I enabled the sensor again because it is better to have it enabled than to risk scratching a platter if I drop the laptop. I'm just happy to have found the source of the CLICK and to know it wasn't a faulty HDD.
I usually turn my volume really low or even mute it before shutting down my mbp, and when I turn on my mbp, the startup chime will be as loud as that volume level.
Yesterday, I used onyx to clean up some of the preferences, etc. Now, it doesn't matter if I mute the volume before shutting down, the start-up chime will always be there at the same level.
I rather not download the startup sound preference program if i really dont have to.
I am making a 10 minute or so powerpoint presentation that will include pictures, music, video, and sound effects in Office mac 2008, on my macbook.
Once I am finished, I will save it onto a USB key. Lets say I now bring the USB key and open the powerpoint in the lecture hall at my school, will the videos and sound effects still work? I know that the pictures will, but not sure about other media content like video and sound effects.
Would it be better to do this in Office 2007 in Windows?
what is the easiest way to connect and properly operate a Logitech Z-5500 surround sound system from my new macbook pro 15inch. Do i have to get a new sound card? Or is there some sort of cable that I can buy instead?
it's that friggin electric sound when you adjust your screen's brightness. Not that the sound is loud or anything but it's so annoying. Even clean install of mac os didn't help.
And it's not the hard drive that's making the noise. It seems to be coming from top left corner. Blackbook is half a year old and it started to emit that friggin noise a month ago. So did anyone had the same or having the same problem and did anyone removed this god dammed irritating sound !
It's a old version MacBook Pro 15.4" 2008 Edition, Core 2 Duo 2.5Ghz (i think) 2GB Ram, 250GB HDD
The problem I encountered was that one day when I was using my laptop I forgot to turn it off and then my laptop went to 'sleep' mode, when I came back and tried to turn on my laptop I could hear the sound but my display was black.
I thought it was just a minor problem so I just restarted my laptop but the problem consisted...
Unfortuately my warranty ran out but still I still put my laptop through the checkup in the official Apple customer center and they said that I needed to purchase a new part PCBA, MLB, 2.5 GHZ, REV2.
I've run into this issue twice already... once on 1 computer and another on this same one. It's the one where the battery is not recognized and there is an "X" where the battery icon is.
I've done all the Software Updates, Batter Update 1.3, and tried resetting the PRAM. So far none of these have worked. Now I'm out of ideas. Before after going thru those steps, the problem would be fixed... not so this time.
I know they extended the warranty and were replacing the batteries for free, but not sure this one would be covered under that.
I bought a 13 inch macbook pro about a month ago and while enjoying my laptop, I heard a very faint tick sound. after a few days the tick sound become more prominent and after reading few complaints about ticking/clicking sound I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with the motion sensor or fan noise problems.
after few weeks gone by and I found out that if you press the bottom side of the laptop it will make a tick sound (is this normal?) I am not sure if this is causing the ticking problem I've been hearing.
you know when you buy a laptop off dell you get pre installed the dell data safe. then all you have to do is click on it and setup an account.
normally there is a subscription for free when you buy your laptop. i lost that icon because of a hard drive wipe.
were do i get that software again? and no dell.com/datasafe dont work. i need the software that you get that will make you an account based on your service tag so it know what to give you for size.
