Feb 14, 2010a friend is running 10.6.2 OS and deleted the HD icon, its not on the desktop or in finder. Tried search came up with nothing relevant.

Dell Inspiron 1545 :: Battery Icon No Longer Had Plug Icon On Top Showing It Was Charging
Jan 24, 2013I was using my inspiron 1545 the other night and it was charging the battery, then i heard a pop from the left hand side of the keyboard. At this point i noticed that the battery icon no longer had the plug icon on top showing it was charging. I then looked at my power adapter and noticed the blue light was not on on the brick.
Finding this I unplugged the brick and then plugged it back in..POP from the laptop again....and the blue light on the brick went off again. This happens everytime.
So I am guessing there is something wrong in the laptop and the brick turns off maybe activating its short circuit mode protect. Obviously, this means I can not charge the battery.
If i remove the battery and try to run it on mains adapter it POPs as soon as you plug it in and the laptop won;t boot as it has no power...

Mar 7, 2009So last month I had a bunch of computers stolen but there was 1 hard drive that was not stolen. That hard drive was inside a Dell Inspiron E1405 that was stolen, but prior to being stolen, I had removed it from the laptop...
Would the Service Tag information be on the hard drive somewhere? I bought an external case so now I'm trying to explore...

Mar 20, 2013I have a Dell Latitude E6410. I recently installed created a linux partition on my HDD but was not interested in keeping it. Anyway after I uninstalled this OS, the space allocated to it on the HDD was turned into unallocated space. I have been unable to merge it with my primary partition. What I wanted to ask was that if I perform a reinstall of my original OS(Windows 7 Professional), will I be able to recover the original partitions and how can it be done?

Nov 13, 2014I had done a human error after a problem with sound in my inspiron N4010 I tried to do a recovery factory but I didn't a backup of all my important files so that I lost all my information now. That I did. I used Dell data safe local backup application to restore drivers, the hard drive was formatted and re-installed all of the software originally shipping on my computer, Dell Data safe mode basic. not returned me all files. so that I lost important files. How can I recover data? it is possible to recover lost data?

Jul 2, 2009I've run into this issue twice already... once on 1 computer and another on this same one. It's the one where the battery is not recognized and there is an "X" where the battery icon is.
I've done all the Software Updates, Batter Update 1.3, and tried resetting the PRAM. So far none of these have worked. Now I'm out of ideas. Before after going thru those steps, the problem would be fixed... not so this time.
I know they extended the warranty and were replacing the batteries for free, but not sure this one would be covered under that.

May 15, 2009you know when you buy a laptop off dell you get pre installed the dell data safe. then all you have to do is click on it and setup an account.
normally there is a subscription for free when you buy your laptop. i lost that icon because of a hard drive wipe.
were do i get that software again? and no dell.com/datasafe dont work. i need the software that you get that will make you an account based on your service tag so it know what to give you for size.

Jan 15, 2015I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E530. Occasionally I will have the following icon pop up on my screen and refuse to go away: A reverse google image search told me this is the logo for the "thinklight", which as far as I know is not actually equipped on this model. As a side note, I have seen this happen on a friend's E530 as well.

Jan 18, 2010This is on an M6400 with Windows 7 64-bit. I installed dell's newest drivers for Windows 7 64-bit, and everything seems to be working fine, but I don't have the Bluetooth item in Control Panel. That becomes an issue if I turn the Bluetooth radio off from the tray icon, because if I do so, the tray icon is gone, and there's no easy way to turn the radio back on.
So, does anybody know how to fix this?

Feb 14, 2009I just got my new Studio XPS 16, but accidentally disabled the quickset tray icon. I've checked registry and tried reinstalling quickset, but nothing i do can get it back. Is there any other way to do it without having to reinstall my whole computer? (as i've already installed several other programs, it'll be quite some effort).

Mar 12, 2010I bought my Acer 3810TG a month ago with Vista pre-installed and recently upgraded to Windows 7. The only problem now is that the brightness icon has disappeared (when I press Fn+left/right arrows), every other icon is working fine though.
Anyway when I looked in the Launch Manager folder, there's a folder called OSDRC with pictures of the icons, where I noticed the brightness icons were missing.
I've tried reinstalling Vista, sent it back to Acer, installing the newest/previous versions of Acer Launch Manager but neither helped.
Is it possible that someone whose brightness icons are working can upload them here or have another solution to get them back?
HP/Compaq :: Pavilion Dv Memory Card Icon Change
Mar 6, 2009I cannot find a way to change it, I have tired autorun.inf tricks and even using winbubble to change the icon. But its wont change the little bugger.
Anyone know a way to change this, be it registry key changes, I dont really care what it takes, it just needs to go away.

Jun 2, 2014An unknown icon appears on my desktop named " Thumbs.db ". It appears on my desktop screen as well as in some files and folders. Whenever I delete that icon, it goes for some time but again comes back on the desktop. And sometimes after deleting the file the desktop turns completely blank with purple background and again comes back to normal in few seconds.

May 5, 2014I have a Lenovo Ideapad p500 Touch. I recently upgraded my router to an AC1900 Router, and with it i wanted to update the internal wifi on the Lenovo. I purchased an Intel 7260 AC Dual Band with Bluetooth seen HERE . Install was pretty straight forward, seeing how im a IT Tech. Where I had an issue is with the drivers and getting bluetooth properly set up. The wifi part works without an issue. I can't seem to get bluetooth to work at all. When i go to device manager I see bluetooth but only if I select to view "hidden Devices". Im running Win 8.1 64x, Ive tried installing the drivers from intel, but it never seems to actually install the bluetooth driver. I don't get the icon in the system tray.

Its been a bit of a lemon so far, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt for just a while longer as I'm not particularly tech-savvy so perhaps the problem is me. Yesterday the volume icon (on the bar at the bottom of the screen) stopped working altogether. I can press it with the curser and it changes colour in the way it should when you click on something ... BUT nothing comes up ... no sound/volume control thing that I can adjust. I know I can use the Function key and arrows, but that is just fiddly, and for a brand new computer, I expect things to work.

Apr 1, 2013I have an inspiron laptop. been working fine now all of a sudden the circle icon keeps flashing in the background it doesn't go out. Ran norton antivirus didn't catch anything. checked register disks everything ok. the computer is working fine except it just keeps flashing off and on again.
I tried rebooting removing battery nothing works. the only msg i received was a box that said wireless configuration OLE initialization failed, make sure that the OLE libraries the correct version. I am running windows home premiun 7.
Sony :: System Tray Icon Distorting Switching GPU- Z Series
Apr 17, 2010if everyone else has this problem or there is something corrupt with my windows?
When I switch the graphics to Speed or back to Stamina my system tray icons get bigger and look distorted. The only way to get them back to normal is to go into the appearance settings and set the icons for another size, it will make them small again regardless of what size i make them.
I should add that playing with the captions dropdown item in Advanced personalization just distorts them to a horrible mess.

Apr 13, 2009hello i got a hpdv9408ca running on vista 32bit and what i want to know is when i click on my internet explorer icon the web sit does not work it says not avalible. but i dont know how to change it i can set my home page. when i hit the home page icon my home page comes up but internet explorer i cant figure how to change that. one more thing when i turn my laptop on before windows starts up i get a yellow strip about 1/4 inch thick more to the right hand side of my screen for about 20 sec then it goes away only comes on on start up.
