I know the docks sometimes go cheaper at third parties. Any suggestions for a battery?

Dell :: Received My Studio XPS 16, But Now It's $150 Cheaper!
Mar 4, 2009So I ordered my XPS1640 about 2-3 weeks ago. Arrived at my house on Monday. Later that day I go onto Dell's website, and see my exact same laptop on sale for $150 less than what I paid.
The only difference is lack of McAfee and a smaller HDD. So I customized it the same as mine, with McAfee and the larger HDD and I still would've saved $60-70.
Do I have a legitimate beef here? Should I call and complain, and will they do anything for me anyways?

My notebook requires (or originally came with) 2 x 256 MB 533 MHZ DDR2 SODIMM Memory Module, but now I want to upgrade to DDR2 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300 (667MHz). This memory seems to be cheaper than the memory that is required for my computer so that is why I'd rather purchase it. I know the notebook will not allow the memory to run at that speed, but I wanted to double check on its compatibility.
I know it probably will work (90% sure), but getting a second opinion before a purchase is always better than after.

Sep 18, 2009After buying and receiving a ready-to-ship FW490 (to match my MacBook Pro), I noticed that if I configured the exact same machine it was $181 cheaper... Sony Style won't price match the machine either, saying I have to return mine and re-order it as CTO to get the difference. I think the $181 is probably not worth the hassle but I feel a bit ripped off here... Am I being unreasonable?

Dec 1, 2009Last night I was using my E1705 running on battery when the thing just suddenly zapped off. I had recently glanced at the battery meter which was 75% full. I pressed the button on the actual battery which shows 3 of 5 lights on the charge meter.
The battery itself is only 1 month old and has been performing flawlessly. I just thought it was something random so I plugged the machine in and it started up.
I didn't think anything else of it till today when I went to move my laptop, removed the power cord, and the laptop turned off. I checked the physical battery meter which still reads 3 of 5 lights .....
Dell XPS 15z :: Will Not Boot With Battery Connected - Fine With Battery Removed
May 15, 2013My Dell XPS 15z is showing the following problem :-- if I try to boot it with the battery connected (and AC power either plugged in or not), the orange power light flashes briefly and then the machine shuts down- if I remove the back of the case, disconnect the battery, connect the AC power cable and boot, the system boots as normal
Other observations
- BIOS version is A07, I can not upgrade this to A12 as, when I try to with the battery disconnected it basically tells me I have to have a battery connected to do the upgrade- when I click on the battery status button on the side of the case with the battery connected, one LED lights- when I click on the battery status button on the side of the case with the battery disconnected, no LEDs light
What are the next diagnostic steps?What is the likely fault - could replacing the battery unit solve the problem or is is the component which charges the battery which is likely to be faulty?The laptop is 18 months old but only covered by a one year warranty with Dell.

Jul 2, 2009I've run into this issue twice already... once on 1 computer and another on this same one. It's the one where the battery is not recognized and there is an "X" where the battery icon is.
I've done all the Software Updates, Batter Update 1.3, and tried resetting the PRAM. So far none of these have worked. Now I'm out of ideas. Before after going thru those steps, the problem would be fixed... not so this time.
I know they extended the warranty and were replacing the batteries for free, but not sure this one would be covered under that.

Jan 30, 2014I would like to ask about the Lenovo Energy Management software bundled with my Z400. Regarding the Energy Management > Battery > "Optimized Battery Health" in particular. When the battery charges until 60%, does it internally disconnect the charger from my battery? The Power icon in the System Tray says "Plugged in, not charging". Or does the software stops the charging until 60%, and when it lowers the software allows it to recharge again? I'm worried about getting my battery worn out immediately, as I leave my charger plugged in most of the time.

May 31, 2013My 2 day old Lenovo Y510P laptop has a problem with charging. I noticed the battery was never going above 60% charged. I left it plugged in for over 24 hours and nothing changed. So I decided to completely drain the battery and used the laptop until it died. my battery had memory effect once and could work for like 15-20 min.but its indicator worked fine at that time.

My main problem is i cant use my laptop keyboard and touchpad while the battery is fully charged. i have to drain my battery in order to use keyboard and touchpad.

When I put the laptop to sleep, I had a pdf file open along with itunes (paused). I have never used Mac OS, so maybe I not doing something correct. Dec 14, 2008My Dell inspiron 6400 has a battery that works amazingly but recently, I noticed a change in the behaviour. Anytime I switch the laptop on, the LED battery indicator shows me red meaning something is wrong even when the battery is fully charged. The battery charges normally even when I intentionally drain out the power and try charging it again. This is just to make sure that the battery charges fine. Infact, in windows, it shows me that the computer is on AC power even when it is not plugged into an AC outlet.
The BIOS shows "No battery installed" and windows tells me the same. Summarily, everything is fine except for the LED indicator showing Red and the BIOS telling me that no battery is installed.

Jun 12, 2009I am looking into getting one of the new macbook pro's. Though I must say the non removable battery does concern me a bit. In past laptops I have had, I without a doubt saw increased battery wear and tear when I left the batter in the laptop while the laptop itself was plugged in. I completly destroyed a battery on my Dell laptop by doing this for about a month when it was asking as a desktop. I took the laptop which used to get around 4 hrs of battery life and then after a month it got no more than 15 minutes.
So after that I always took the battery out, so now with the new macbook pro's you cannot take the batteries out, so wont the batteries wear down to nothing faster than if you took them out when not using them?

I recently did a battery life test. I charged the battery to full and then left it standing to see how long it would last on battery power alone.
Conditions: Full screen brightness. Display-off, screensaver and standyby turned off. Wi-Fi and background processes such as anti-virus programs are turned on (idle).

My M1530 will hit one year old at the end of the month. My battery life is just sort of crappy. As a test I charged it up to 100% then unplugged it. I dimmed the screen to about 50%, turned off Wifi, then just let it sit idle. Nothing running. The battery lasted about 90 minutes.
Clearly not great, but does that sort of performance warrant a replacement?

Sep 18, 2009My E1705 battery refuses to charge. I had a bum power adapter which I had replaced. Got the new one today and it still won't charge my battery.
What occurs is that I plug in the power and the battery icon in Win7 indicates it is charging. The charging animation in Win7 continues until your battery is charged. But in my case after about 30sec the animation stops, and show a quarter charge and never fully charges.
This indicates a faulty battery I'm assuming? It wouldn't be the power port would it?

it hasn't shipped yet, so I can probably still take advantage of the 9 cell free upgrade.
I am concerned though, about the size it adds to the laptop - i don't like the bulge much. But I just read elsewhere that the 9 cell fixes some heat issues with the laptop..is this true? And is the difference significant (heat-wise)? I'm reconsidering now..

Mar 30, 2010I always keep my laptop plugged in so I don't use the battery. It's primary function is, in case there's a power interruption. This morning my Vostro 1500 (going on two years) started flashing the battery LED on the control panel on the palm rest.
It says 100% full...Charging !
It's been like that for 1.5 hours so I took it out. While in the machine I ran HWMon and it should a fully charged battery and the power output was equal across the board..
