View 3 RepliesHas anyone ever used the smart card reader in their XPS M1710.
It was in there when Dell sent the M1710 to replace my Gen2 but I cant seem to find any use for it..
Apparently you can use it instead of a password but the cards dont seem easily available..
Reinstalled Windows 7 on Precision M6500. Smart Card Reader does not respond. My SDHC card is recognized on my other Dell Laptop. What can I do to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedCant seem to get XP device manager to recognise this item says driver cant load or not present, tried dell suppport but all there is for it is some kinda security driver that dosnt do anything AFAICS tried just about reinstalling every bit of S**t dell offered on the drivers support page in the vain attempt to find which if any driver it needed.
Now i wonder if my its broken but as i have no idea what it is AFAIK i have 1 card reader and thats already installed the billion options it has that i will never use though SD card readers useful sometimes :
( this copy of XP i installed started with 16 Processes compared to dells 60 or so )
I performed a windows 7 clean install on my vaio (VPCEB11FX).
After that i installed the drivers properly. In Device manager i am able to see the MMC card reader and SD reader with respective path letters.
But in when i open my computer only dvd drive showing there
Where do I get a contactless or contact dell smart card for my e6400? I can't to find them anywhere

I saw a lot of post talking about this for Sony Vaio, I can't find the option in my dell E6500.
Currently, I am using alps driver 7.2.101...
When I ordered my E6400, it said on the Dell configuration pages that it would have a UPEK fingerprint reader. I am quite sure I got another fingerprint reader since it says "Broadcom USH CV w/Fingerprint Swipe Sensor" in Device Manager. When I look closely at the quotes I got from the Dell sales guy it doesn't say UPEK anywhere on the E6400 quote but it does say UPEK on the E6500 quote.
Does the E6500 have the same (non-UPEK) fingerprint reader?
Is it possible to get the E6400 with a UPEK fingerprint reader?
I would like to have a laptop with the UPEK fingerprint reader since I ordered a Dell USB UPEK fingerprint reader with my laptop that I intend to use when the computer is in the docking station. The USB UPEK fingerprint reader doesn't work with the fingerprint software on my E6400. I am not 100% sure it will work even if I would have the same brand of fingerprint reader in the laptop but I think it should increase the chance a lot.
Has anyone out there any information on the integrated contactless reader in the E6400/E6500?
I know it's based on the Broadcom 5880 chipset, but not much else. Even Dell can't tell me much, other that it's supposed to support RFID and ISO 14443.
I'm looking at developing a RFID application to which would use the Dell reader if I can find any information.
I got my Latitude E6500 a few days ago, I'm happy with it (except the lagging ALPS touchpad) but I have a problem with the fingerprint reader (Broadcom USH w/Swipe sensor).
The fingerprint reader is connected and does respond, but the ControlPoint software throws an error if I try to enroll my fingerprint (the error doesn't show up if I don't touch the sensor). If I reboot, the "Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor" is replaced by "Broadcom USH w/o swipe sensor" in the device manager. The swipe sensor is detected again after a complete shutdown.
Anyone know if there is a way to completly disable the finger print reader? I checked the bios but i could not find anything about the finger print reader.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new M4400, running W7pro x64. The M4400 came with an internal SD card reader. Now this card reader cannot read some standard SD cards (other work fine). Especially,
I have a Transcend SD 4GB 133x (http://www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com/i...ard-detail.jpg) that is problematic.
When I put the card in the reader, W7 tells me to format the card. This I do not want to do, of course. If I open Disk Management, it takes ages to open, and eventually shows the card as "Unallocated".
I just bought and Im the proud owner of a HP Envy 15-k064nd laptop.
I would like to disable the fingerprint reader because it keeps asking for codes while I'm typing on the keyboard. How I can disable the fingerprint reader?
I bought a new 8935G and found that the card reader cannot read my 2GB H-Type xD card.
FDXGDFSGDFS
The camera I'm using it in does not show any problem.
GDFSGDFSG
I tried reinstalling reader driver.
GDSFGSF
I teste the reader with an old 16Mb xD card and this works.
FSGFSG
When I put the 2GB card in, Windows Vista says it has to be formatted; at this point the card is already unreadable in the camera and must be formatted againg there.
If I try to format on pc, the process stops at about 90% with an error.

i bought a new lattitide 6500 from an outlet type place, it came fully loaded with more than it said in the specs, web cam etc
i had an issue and they replace the mobo, when the guy was replacing the board, i noticed it had a sim card slot with all hardware present.
I have a latitude E6500 with an nVidia Quadro NVS 160M and I was wondering if there are any more gaming-specific cards compatible with this laptop.
I know chances are very small there are any that fit, but I was just wondering.
I can't find anything about graphics card upgrades on
dell site, so I'm assuming its not supported in any way. I should be able to do the upgrade myself.
I recently saw that my M1710 has an card reader...
Can I use it for reading mijn debit/creadit cards for online banking,... or not?
I put in my SDHC card from my camera and it does not read or see the card.
I have Vista Premium 32bit.
Is there are weird firmware I have to get?
I am just thinking is SD Controler in E6400 is SDHC capable?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an xps m1330, I have windows XP media center installed on it, the media card reader works fine for my 2gb sd card,

i've downloaded the latest ricoh driver from xps m1730 windows xp on dell's site but no success
My laptop is Vostro 1500 with 8600M GT
I'm experiencing some weird flashes, driver stops working and recovered, random distorting dots etc recently. I'm 99% sure its the video card's problem. Luckily the display card can be exchanged. But before going ahead to change it I wanna ensure its video's fault. So I wonder theres any way I can turn off the NVIDIA 8600M GT ,use the intel graphic instead, and see if I still get any of those problems.
I don't seem to find any option in BIOS letting me to do so.
My SD card reader isn't working very well. When I push a card in and let it click into place, coming back out a little, my laptop doesn't recognize it.
I have to push and hold the card all the way down to the bottom of its travel for the computer to recognize it. This means I have to keep my hand on it to use it.
I just do a fresh install windows XP. Everything has been installed properly (no exclamation mark) in device driver. However, 1 thing that hasn't worked is the SD card reader. I inserted SD Card and nothing shows up. I open My Computer, the only available is my hard disk (C and cd-rom (D.
I opened device manager: IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers:
Ricoh SD/MMC host controller.
speed of the Dell Latitude E4300 Card Reader? I mean the transfer rate of the SD Card Reader.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden the SD Card Reader on E5430 laptop doesn't work When I insert SD card nothing happens. Before, a window would pop up, or I could see the SD card in my computer.
No nothing happens and it doesn't show up under my computer.
Also, under device manager -> storage controllers, not there any more.
I believe it's a O2 Micro OZ600xxx card reader. I tried installing driver, but still doesn't see SD Card when inserted.
If the SD Card reader is just dead? Or do I have a driver issue. Windows 7 Professional 64bit
i don't know how to setup the card reader, I've Inspiron 15R N5110.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers to no avail...
My SD card reader seems "dead" on my E6400 running Win7 32bit.
I've tried installing various Ricoh drivers, including the Ricoh R5C847 for Win vista/xp 32 bit. I can't find a driver for Win7 32 bit, at least not on the Dell driver-support pages .....
i have this laptop, great laptop, works great; however, the sd card reader has not worked in ages. I have tried upgrading to new drivers, reloading old drivers, etc etc....The driver company is ricoh.
