Reinstalled Windows 7 on Precision M6500. Smart Card Reader does not respond. My SDHC card is recognized on my other Dell Laptop. What can I do to fix this?
Cant seem to get XP device manager to recognise this item says driver cant load or not present, tried dell suppport but all there is for it is some kinda security driver that dosnt do anything AFAICS tried just about reinstalling every bit of S**t dell offered on the drivers support page in the vain attempt to find which if any driver it needed.
Now i wonder if my its broken but as i have no idea what it is AFAIK i have 1 card reader and thats already installed the billion options it has that i will never use though SD card readers useful sometimes :
( this copy of XP i installed started with 16 Processes compared to dells 60 or so )
I have a brand new M4400, running W7pro x64. The M4400 came with an internal SD card reader. Now this card reader cannot read some standard SD cards (other work fine). Especially,
I have a Transcend SD 4GB 133x (http://www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com/i...ard-detail.jpg) that is problematic.
When I put the card in the reader, W7 tells me to format the card. This I do not want to do, of course. If I open Disk Management, it takes ages to open, and eventually shows the card as "Unallocated".
I've been having problems with my video card. (M1710 with a 7950GTX card). The card was overheating and even after applying AS5 and cleaning the vents it was reaching around 100c in games. After about a year, i started to also get memory parity errors...
Long story short, i contacted dell and they mailed me a new mb and a new video card.
I just got it now, and i am going to open the rig and replace the video card.. I am just not sure about the mother board, should i replace it as well ?
The parts that dell sent are refurbished parts, and as i know that my m.board is working i am not sure whether i should replace it or not.
I bought a new 8935G and found that the card reader cannot read my 2GB H-Type xD card. FDXGDFSGDFS The camera I'm using it in does not show any problem. GDFSGDFSG I tried reinstalling reader driver. GDSFGSF I teste the reader with an old 16Mb xD card and this works. FSGFSG When I put the 2GB card in, Windows Vista says it has to be formatted; at this point the card is already unreadable in the camera and must be formatted againg there.
If I try to format on pc, the process stops at about 90% with an error.

Here are some snapshots of a freshly loaded XPS M1710 having some kind of Video issue. Nothing is overclocked and using Dell Drivers for Video etc.. Problem happened when playing WOW and in C&C:3.
I was going to repair my Inspiron 8600 but now I have a chance to get my hands on an XPS M1710 with what is believed to be the same fried video card everyone is experiencing with it...what would my options be for repairing this computer if it is simply the video card needing to be replaced?
I can find the stock replacements through Dell and eBay, but I'm curious if there are other alternatives out there?
if the hard drive from my Inspiron 8600 would be compatible?
I've joined the legion of M1710 users that have had their video card crap out on them. Typical green lines and bars results in chat to XPS support to have 7900GS replaced. That lasted ~ 2 weeks. Dust cleaned out every month, on a cooler pad, etc. Screen goes black suddenly (not screen saver) and a reboot leads to green lines again. Another chat/phone call to Dell results in replacement motherboard AND 7950 GTX. Nice upgrade. So, how long should I expect this card to last? I've had no other issues and really do my best to keep everything clean and cool. And when this card goes (they all seem too?).... I should mention that I received the M1710 as a replacement for a E1705 that overheated, had parts replaced, and then needed to go to the depot to be "fixed," only to return un-repaired and with the wires to the wireless antenna cut inside the case.
after long 2 years of using this laptop, my video card fan died. How do i know this? Well, after turning on the laptop today, i got all these artifacts and my left side fan isnt running which supposedly run when you turn on.
Now my question is, where can i find a video card fan for this specific model to replace it?
I have all sorts of data on this laptop and i dont want to die on me just like that. any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

I was playing GRID on my Dell XPS M1710, and got a load of corruption and lines on the screen, and the laptop shut went into a kind of safe mode. It has never been overclocked, and dust has been cleaned recently.
Now, when I turn it on, I get artifacts and corruption even at the BIOS screen. I've tried reseating and reinstalling the drivers, but it hasn't worked. I'm going to call dell tomorrow, but as it's out of warranty,
I don't expect much help. There's no way I'm buying a new GPU, (they cost more than the laptop is worth), so I'm going to try and fix it. I'm going to use the oven fix as a last resort,
and would appreciate advice on anything else I can do to fix it, as well as any tips when performing the oven trick. If anyone is selling a 7900GTX/7950GTX for a decent price, you may have a buyer
My SD card reader isn't working very well. When I push a card in and let it click into place, coming back out a little, my laptop doesn't recognize it.
I have to push and hold the card all the way down to the bottom of its travel for the computer to recognize it. This means I have to keep my hand on it to use it.
I just do a fresh install windows XP. Everything has been installed properly (no exclamation mark) in device driver. However, 1 thing that hasn't worked is the SD card reader. I inserted SD Card and nothing shows up. I open My Computer, the only available is my hard disk (C and cd-rom (D.
I opened device manager: IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers:
All of a sudden the SD Card Reader on E5430 laptop doesn't work  When I insert SD card nothing happens. Before, a window would pop up, or I could see the SD card in my computer.
No nothing happens and it doesn't show up under my computer.
Also, under device manager -> storage controllers, not there any more.
I believe it's a O2 Micro OZ600xxx card reader.  I tried installing driver, but still doesn't see SD Card when inserted.
If the SD Card reader is just dead? Or do I have a driver issue. Windows 7 Professional 64bit
I recently restored my vaio TX750P/B using the built-in vaio recovery. However, my SD card slot doesn't seem to work anymore. The memory stick slot does work, and it shows up on my computer, but nothing for the SD slot.
I've tried reinstalling the drivers to no avail...
