I have the wled panel here and colors look a bit dull compared to other laptop screens I've used in the past.
Text is fine and smooth but the overall color saturation isn't as colorful as it "should" be. I said should because this might be how it looks in default.
I went into the Nvidia control panel and saw I could change pretty much anything from contrast to digital vibrance?? There are two options where I can restore the desktop color settings to, either "Other applications control color settings or "Use NVIDIA setting
MY SZ4 Model has the LCD panel not the LED and for some reason to me it seems like the brightness is not going to its full potential even though its showing all the Brightness bars, I'm not sure if this has to do with the LCD itself degrading over time(even though its only been 2-3 years) and the colours arent as sharp sometimes when im watching movies or TV series, so I was wondering if there is any type of software out there that can help me with sharpness or contrast that sorta thing.
No option for sharpness, brightness, contrast shows up in my nVidia Control Panel either, just manage your 3D settings and, Display options, very limited options.
If you go into Advanced options mode i do this these settings below in the 3D settings, are these settings okay as they are or should I change any of them?
When I use to plug my laptop into the mains you could see the screen got a lot brighter as though it was a power surge. For some reason that no longer happens the display is quite dull and tough to read unless in a dark room!
There was a distinct difference to screen brightness between 'High performance' and 'Power saver' mode. This is no longer the case and the laptop seems stuck in power saver brightness!
A few times recently, I've had what seems to be problems with the backlighting in the RGB LED screen on my 1640, which I purchased back in September. The screen is usually phenomenal, but a few times it seems that one or two of the backlighting colors will shut off. This distorts the images so that they all seem to be dominated by a red, green, or blue hue (mostly green or red, I think). And then it will start changing between the R, G, or B, which looks really crazy. The only way I've been able to fix this is by restarting once or twice. I'm scared that maybe the monitor needs to be replaced. What do you guys think?
does anyone know if you can change the colors of the keyboard light like you can on alienware laptops? ive been wondering this since ive only seen the backlit keyboard in white, and i was hoping to maybe switch the color to that of my lappy? i think that would be awsome to see on a studio.
I have seen this issue posted online (via Google) but I haven't been able to find a resolution to the problem (because I don't feel like sitting here reading through hundreds of pages in forums or trying to search using the perfect keyword to pull up my answer).
The color saturation on the 1080p screens that come with the Studio XPS 16 are extremely over-kill.
This notebook comes with a ATI card and not NVidia (I'm use to NVidia and being able to use the "digital vibrance" setting to 'calm down' the over-kill of the colors. However ATI's setting for this is greyed out and can't be accessed ......
What color is your DELL Studio 15/17? What other colors, if any, did you also consider? What color, pattern or trim options would you like to see offered on the Studio notebooks?
Only 3 colors are available (most popular grey color no longer available) along with the WoW version being removed, along with the release of the Alienware m17x being released it appears it is being phased out?
Looking for a gaming laptop (no rush) so wondering what is happening here.
I recently purchased an Inspiron 7720 in October 2012. A week ago, the laptop started freezing up while playing world of warcraft. I checked my Nvidia video card and there were some updates. I installed them and the computer started working normal again. On Saturday, while I was using Skype to transfer a file, the computer gave me a white screen and I had to hold down the power button to get it to shutdown. It rebooted and was working normal again. Then yesterday (Sunday), while using video chat on Skype the computer screen went into a flashing color pattern and I had to hold down the power button to get it to shutdown. Are there any diagnostic tests that I can run before calling Dell's tech department? I believe it is a video card issue but not completely sure.
My old notebook keyboard died, and despite my apprehensions about buy a notebook with a glossy screen, I recently purchased the most recent upgrade of the Dell Studio - a 1745 (according to the number on the bottom of the laptop) from Best Buy for about $800.
While I was worried about the glossy part, it turns out there's another, much larger problem - I intended to use it to edit photos (I'm not professional, just like to play around with them sometimes) and I've found the colors, despite being a "truelife" display (I got the "900p" one, 1600x900) to be kind of crappy when it comes to viewing skin tones. They're just sort of...flattened. My pictures that look good on my regular lcd (21.3" Samsung SyncMaster 213t) and my hd tv look weird and unnatural on my studio laptop. The pictures that look borderline-ok on my other monitors look terrible on my laptop because the skin tones are all messed up.
And I don't mean that like "I'm super picky about skin tones", I mean more like "anyone looking at the picture on the laptop lcd would notice it looks noticeably weird".
Naturally, there are a picture or 2 that actually looks better on the laptop screen - in one of them, there's a yellowish cast in the background when viewed on the camera lcd and my tv (it's also a common issue with pictures taken with my camera), but it's not there on the laptop screen. Unfortunately, since I need to be able to adjust the white balance on my laptop to look good on your average monitor, this is kind of a problem for me.
I really hate to wait a month for a new computer, but I was thinking that maybe the "17.3” Full HD (1080p) B+RG LED Display with TrueLife™ and Camera" would be better with colors? Or is there something wrong with my particular screen? The Studio with the same specs costs $1,139 online (as opposed to the $780 I paid at Best Buy) so it's a lot more money, but I could probably do it. I considered ordering a refurbished Precision m6400, but some of the reviews of the screen seemed kind of down (especially for such an expensive computer), plus it sounded like it's pretty huge to lug around.
I cant figure this out, I have a M1710 with the 7950GTX, tried both the vanilla 169.09 and the M4 version.
My gun is constantly flickering, to the point I cant take it. Rapidly flashing between a couple different colors. It also happens to my teammates (singler player only, havent tried MP yet).
Iv'e Tried every Graphic options 1 by 1 and I cant get it to go away...
my old travelmate 8104's LCD started having problems few months ago. First the colors were corrupted and shifting the screen slighty to a different position helped. After a while the problem got worse; there's no real picture, just pixel-garbage. Shifting the screen still has an effect to the image, but no real picture appears.
I have the service manual and I'm planning to disassembly the laptop and I'd appreciate any advice where to find the problem. Broken cable or bad connectors?
The screen on my Z11 fades from time to time. Usually when in Firefox. The colors just fade and the screen becomes very bland. Usually, I have to minimize Firefox in order to get things back in order.
I have dell Inspiron 5520 laptop now i have install windows 8.1.when i install windows 8.1 the screen display problem accur.screen color is convert into black and white and also distortion problem occur. I have already install chipset drivers.......
Does inverting colors on a macbook pro save battery life? Is this because it takes less energy to display black then it does white? would this apply to any laptop?
My g6 has had many problems. I really regret buying it. First we had a freezing issue which hp resolved I thought that was the end of it. Now when my screen is open at a 90 degree angle to the keyboard Lines appear then the screen turns white with various colored lines running through. When I open all the way it is fine or close to a 45 degree angle. Is there a bad wire or connection? I have a prepaid box to mail to hp still. I thought hp was better than this!
So I noticed having hopped on my FE790 (3-years old) with Hi-Color technology that the contrast is SOOOOOO much better than on my FW465.
The colors on me FE790 look so much more vibrant and it was rather painful to look at the same picture of a multicolored flower on the FW with the FE790 right by its side.
I decided to use the Catalyst Control Ceneter from ATI to try to tweak the settings
I experience the following display problem with Acer Aspire 5942G:
When certain colors are displayed on the laptop screen, thin diagonal lines ( like waves ) start moving all over the mentioned color ( see the attached photo and movie).
The effect is very annoying and well seen when You look from underneath the display. The exact color depends on the color calibration and the Acer Cine Boost Color Engine but always exist.
I attach a test pattern of 4 colors - they are light ones. Each color reacts as explained depending on color calibration : default MS Windows 7 calibration , default ATI video driver calibration, Acer CineBoost Color Engine On/Off.
It is not affected by hot/cold notebook, battery/normal power. It does not affect the external display.

This failed to install, with error message that it is not for my system (It was clearly marked Intel 64 bit, Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000.  Also found on HP Envy drivers, SP63750.exe, Version 10.18.10.3304, dated November 8, 2013. Made no noticeable change.  In some cases, I could get the color acceptable for one mode (Viewing JPG file), but unacceptable for screen display. I tried the high contrast mode, but made the screen really hard to follow with all those text boxes, like looking at a brick wall.  If I look at the same files with my (Win 7 Updated) Netbook mini 1101, all the graphics are really normal color and contrast. (Maybe the drivers got messed up when I had sent it on for repair to the HDD/MoBo). I haven't tried a total reset yet, it's always such a pain to do a master reset to see it is a hardware failing or not.  How to get my colors and contrast back to normal????
I have an Acer Aspire E1 model Q5WPH, runnng Windows 8. All has been well until this week when the screen began flashing random colours.  I powered the machine off and from then on it refuses to boot back up. Power appears to be getting through as it starts up the DVD drive but then the power light goes off - then back on and the process continues until I power the machine off again.
On my screen, all that displays is some random flickering colors. Ive tried changing the resolutions and various settings in the NVIDIA control panel, but still no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try? I figure HDMI should be pretty much plug and play. The TV is 720p and Ive tried resolutions from 1280x720 to 800x600. I dont really have any experience with HDMI to be honest.
There are some custom settings in the NVIDIA control panel, but I am not too familiar with these settings:
Is it normal that dell.ca would have fewer choices of screens than dell.com? I'm looking at the studio 15, and dell.com lists Hi Resolution/Bright,
glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) as a choice, which is what I want, but dell.ca doesn't. When I view the system specs though, that choice is listed as on option.
I have a Dell Latitude E6530 and when I plugged in my monitor and keyboard into the docking station, they were not recognized. But I can plug them into the laptop while docked and they are recognized.Â
I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 purchased about 2 and a half years ago. I was just deleting some random programs which I don't ever use, and accidentally clicked on uninstall Dell Data Safe Local Back up.Â
How to reinstall it? I tried to do so by clicking this link [URL] .... but it just came up with an error message.Â
my laptop vostro 3460 won't boot any more. When I turn it on it loads the Dell logo (I suppose it passes the POST) but then it just shows a black page. It could be anything, but I guess that it may have something to do with Windows 8 and the UEFI system. I also would be quite happy to install linux mint and get rid of Windows, but I don't know how to change the boot priority order.
So my questions are:
1 is it a hardware issue ? if not, can I solve my problem easily ?
2 how can I change the boot priority order, to install mint ?
