I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 purchased about 2 and a half years ago. I was just deleting some random programs which I don't ever use, and accidentally clicked on uninstall Dell Data Safe Local Back up.
How to reinstall it? I tried to do so by clicking this link [URL] .... but it just came up with an error message.
I've just got a new Windows 7 Dell Inspiron 5520 latop. I'm trying to create a set of system recovery DVDs for it. I used the Datasafe Local Backup with my Verbatim DVD+R dvds, but it just spat these straight out and said insert writable DVD. I thought it could be a problem with the DVDs (they have RW logo on them) so I got some DVD-Rs which don't. However, Datasafe still spat them out. So I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the latest version. This accepted the DVD-Rs and wrote the first DVD, but got to 5% of verifing the disk and then crashed out, asking for a new disk. I put a new disk in and it started again, and fell over at the same point. Then I abandoned the process, restarted the whole thing from the beginning, and it failed at the same point again. How I can create a set of system recovery disks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop in our lab that was full of a bunch of software that had been installed over the last year or so and I was trying to bring it back to how it was shipped from the factory. After booting with the F8 option then through Advanced Options I selected to restore the laptop to the factory image since there was no data that I needed from the unit. After the laptop restoration was finished I now boot to the BSOD and it perpetually asks for a startup repair which does not work. I made this unit a door stopper needless to say since there are no disks included in the purchase. Is there any way to get this laptop back to factory?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI went through and cleaned out all the media and whatnots I wanted to save before a system reformat. So I popped in the XP install disc and restarted my ACER ASPIRE 1520.
I came to the blue XP install screen ... pressed F8 to agree like a good boy and then came to the hard drive partitions.
to my surprise not only did I have hard drive partitions C and D but also a hd partition called
" :- eisa tools "
I thought to myself "I do not remember seeing that before"
so after weighing my assumptions for a couple of mintues I thought "eh, i'll delete it and reinstall THEN deal with the issues if they pop up" ... part of me was still saying "dont do it, DONT DO IT"
so I did it ... deleted all 3 partitions and then created 2 new partitions. I then selected which partition I wanted to install XP on and came to the NTFS or FAT format screen ...
I selected NTFS and *blip* ... the computer shut off. So I turned it back on after checking the power adapter and making sure everything was secure, it was.
After the computer going *blip* and shutting off at various points in the course of the XP install blue screen (non further along than the NTFS format section) I then decided to go into BIOS.
So I restarted the computer , pressed F2 to get into bios and I did .......

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have dell inspiron duo 1090 with a multi touch screen suportted in windows 7, and the multi touch feature (right click with 2 fingers touch, zooming) used to work until I upgraded dell datasafe local backup to version 9.4.60 (after automatic reminder) and after this install the touch screen is working but the multi-tocuh functionality doesn't (although it was enabled in the windows settings) - no zooming or right click with 2 features touch, after I restored this software to version 9.4.51 the multi-touch is back to work, I checked this again and again to isolate the source of the problem and it really seems like a strange bug in datasafe 9.4.60.
How do I report this bug to dell so I could update the dell datasafe to an updated version but without loosing the multi-touch functionality.
i have a Dell M5040 when i launch Dell Datasafe 2.0 the section to create Recovery Media has both the USB and CD/DVD grayed out. How do I reset Datasafe in case there was a limit to create only 1 copy of the recovery cds (which are no where to be found)?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI had this problem with local internet area disconnecting and reconnecting (one second it shows it is enabled, other ethernet cable is unplugged, and that keeps repeating), which was caused by Ubuntu, I highly suspect.So I updated Bios to A11 and it charmingly fixed everything.
However, problem arose again. I've installed Ubuntu again on dual boot and tried updating Nvidia drivers which did not work well and broke Ubuntu again, which caused this internet problem again on windows 7 somehow (yes, this happened for second time . But this time I can't update Bios, or overwrite it's update).
I did not expect that after bios update this would happen again. I tried downloading various drivers from dell driver support. So, is there a way to overwrite same version of Bios, or (downloading some sort of drivers i might have mist, ect.?)
i checked that it has two partition one with 217 GB(OS installed) and another with 15 GB(Recovery partition).
I want to do further partition of 217 GB disk. usually, on my desktop i use hirens boot cd for creating partition. same i try to do here bt evrythng got messed up.
my 217 GB partition got deleted or corrupted and went under anallocated space..................
I am working on a Dell Inspron N7010 and have tried to use the Factory Image, but it seems to be gone.
In the D: drive, I find the Windows OS, in the C Drive I find nothing. All other drives are as they should be. The Factory Image is either deleted or corrupted. How can I get a copy of this ?

I have done some digging before posting, and I understood that I had to enter to the bios and change USB debug Mode to Enable in order to make it work as USB 2.0 (Disable USB 3.0 functionality to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash Drive).
thing is that I tried that several thing to recover the windows 7, deleted the usb flash drive and made several copies and in the end of it I always get to a screen which tells me that "if you are trying to restore your pc from usb 3.0 ................change to a different usb port " .
My laptop model is Dell inspiron n5010 (2011) . It was running fine until today when suddenly while I played game it started lagging, first I thought that probably I run too many app but I ran task manager and saw that my cpu is 100 % and led lamp for hdd is always on. I restarted and saw that right after I click the button the led is on. I ran defrag disk twice.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Vostro 3450 (windows 7) had been running slowly for a while and after a virus scan didn't work, I decided to reinstall my operating system. I used the OS reinstall disk that came with the computer and that seemed to work pretty well. However, when it came time to install the drivers, I hit a roadblock. I put in the drivers disk and tried to go through the list of what drivers to install first (DSS, then chipset, etc...) but each time I installed something, it didn't seem to do anything-- I would go through the whole process for each one, but the little check mark wouldn't appear next to it in the "My System" list.... See below:
My computer can't connect to the internet either by ethernet or wifi, and can only input info through the cd drive.

Does the factory default., only back up the files that were originally on the drive when I first bought it, regardless of what I install afterwards? and the Custom backsup everything? I noticed that Factory Default is 10GB, but the Custom is 29GB. This is confusing because I only install two small programs on top the Factory Default. WHat is the other 19GB?
I have a Aspire 6930G that came with 3 partitions.
After I make my backup image, so I still need the recovery partitions?
Back in my Windows days and for my servers at work (just a few), I always did the following to do backup:
1) DATA
Use SyncToy or copy the data folders (My Documents, etc.) to an external hard drive
2) OS and APPLICATIONS
Create an image using Acronis's TrueImage, so I don't have to re-install the applications or re-configure the OS
With Time Machine, I know it backups my User folder (Documents, Music, etc.), but does it also backup the computer settings, such that in the case of re-install, I just pop-in the original OSX Installation CD and restore from Time Machine without reconfiguring the OS AND re-installing the application again?
I noticed in the Time Machine hard drive there is also an Applications folder that contains the list of the same applications as installed in my MBP.
I have a Thinkpad x130e. I completed my first backup using the Lenovo Rescue and backup application. The backup completed normally but, I still have an outstanding message in the message center telling me 'you need to perform your first backup'.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition Laptop with Windows 8, bought on 12/16/2012. The Dell Backup and Recovery version 1.0.0.2 does not seem to work properly when using the "Recovery Media" option (“Create a copy of your factory image in case of critical hardware failure.”) for doing a "Factory Backup" with Discs.I am using new Maxell DVD+R discs.
After the first disc is written and validated it is ejected. A new blank disc is requested, placed in the drive, and then OK is clicked, and the new disc is in for a short while and then ejected without anything being written to it. Also, the DVD is still listed in the File Explorer as "DVD RW Drive (D:) Recovery" even though no DVD is in the drive and the drive tray is in (normally, when there is no DVD in the drive the DVD drive is no longer shown in the File Explorer).
If the backup is canceled and a blank disc is placed back in, then checking the properties of the disc shows 0 GB available and 0 GB Used - this error is corrected by Restarting the computer. After the Restart the disc is properly shown to have 3.9GB Available and 0GB Used.I tried again to do the backup and the same thing happened, with only the first disc actually being written and validated. That first disc is named “Recovery” and it does contain folders: Boot, EFI, preload, and Recovery. It has files: AUTORUN.INF, BOO.MGR, BOOTMGR, BOOTMGR.EFI, MASTERLOG, and Media.ico. Used space is 3.81 GB.
Since the Dell backup program for the factory image does not seem to recognize that a new blank disc is inserted after it was done with the first disc, I cannot make a backup of the factory image.
I recently bought a new Inspiron 15R 5521 preinstalled with Windows 8and I have never powered it on because I want to make an entire disk backupas it is in a "pure" state.
I removed its harddrive (Western Digital, 1 TB) from my laptop to connectit to my desktop with 2 harddrives (one for system (Windows 7, 64 bit); the otherfor data (2 TB)), but never started the installed system to prevent the systemfrom writing some system information into the Inspiron disk.Instead I inserted a Windows PE CD embedded with Acronis True Image 2013.I chose "Disk Backup". The Inspiron harddrive had 6 partitions.The destination drive (where the image created was to be saved) was the 2-TB data disk.Clicked "Finish" and writing Partition 1...done, 2...ok, .... 6 ok and"Backup Process Failed!" at the final stage.
The final stage seems to be a partition layout.BTW the Acronis backup system has an option "Ignore Errors" (force complete).I gave it a try too, but the image created was incomplete with only 4 partitions.Macrium Rescue Disk is a similar one but with no ignore error option.I also tried this and failed at the final stage. No image created.The error message was "Unable to read from disk".Both the Inspiron disk and the destination drive happened to be Western Digital ones.I tried Western Digital Lifeguard checker on each and found no bad sectors.
I just purchased an Inspiron 14R for my granddaughter (graduation present). I know Dell doesn't ship OS Recovery disks anymore (poor decision), but I thought I'd be able to create one from the Dell Backup and Recovery app.
However, all I see is the "System Recovery" option, which doesn't work. It fails after the first DVD. I don't have a flash drive to try that option yet.
But I don't really want 4 DVDs of a full system backup; I just want a Windows 8 OS Recovery DVD. The manual seems to say I have one opportunity to make one, but I've never seen that option.
There must be a way to get or make a simple Windows 8 OS backup--why is this so difficult?
I made a USB back up using the Dell Backup and Recovery/Factory backup. I can't seem to get my laptop to boot up from a USB, though. I've looked at all the options I see via F2 and F12. But I see no mention of USB as something it could boot from.
My machine is an Inspiron 15 7000 series.

Inspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop running Windows7, and it automatically powers off when I login to my computer.
I tried to run Diagnostics but it will not complete as laptop crashes within 30 seconds or so of logging in. As it crashes there is an audible click.
This happens both when the laptop is on AC Power and Battery, and in safe mode or starting normally.
I have a Inspiron 15 Intel (N5010) laptop with Win7 64bit. when I start my computer with headphones plugged in and then unplug them, no sound comes from the speakers. If I start the laptop with headphones unplugged then there is no problem (also, when I start with the unplugged, then plug the headphones in and then unplug, the sound from the speakers is ok).
I installed the latest audio drivers and codecs. But now that I think of it, I installed latest network drivers from dell site. I have a TOSHIBA MK6461GSYN hard drive and I wonder where could I check if there is a newer firmware available? Checked Toshiba site and they had some update program but that needed a floppy drive.
