Dell Inspiron 1440 :: XP Driver For Dell Wireless WLAN 1397 Half MiniCard (4312bg)?

View 3 RepliesI am looking for xp driver for Dell Wireless WLAN 1397 Half MiniCard (4312bg) (boradcom).
View 3 RepliesI have a Studio 15 with Dell Wireless 1510N Mini-card.
I noticed that the signal strength of this card is quite bad. I have another Studio with a Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 and the signal strength is very good.
I did some testing by putting two laptops on the same spot. The Intel card has a signal strength of 94% while the Dell card has only 60%. Is it because the Dell card is faulty or something?
My daughters 1440 works online for about 15min and then it loses connection to the router and wont show any available wireless networks,
I won't work until I reset the system and then it works for about 15 min again.I reinstalled the wireless driver and even tried to restore it to a few weeks before it started doing that but still does it.
Could the wireless card be bad? Has anyone had this problem before? Does anyone know which card is in there an ho to get to it?
Is there a big difference between the 1397 and intel 5300 wireless cards?

I have put a Dell Wireless 5530 MiniCard into my new M4400 - but cannot seem to find any information to whetever it workes in google maps or not.
im having a problem with my 1525 inspiron laptop, which i have had for a couple of years. The problem started when installed windows 7. My wireless minicard stops working anytime i try playing an online game. The mouse starts freezing and then the wireless card would stop working. The only way can it working again is to reboot the laptop or put it to sleep the start it up again.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just realized that both the new Inspiron 14 and Studio 14z are numbered as the "1440". Usually Dell avoids duplicating the model number- Inspiron 1525, Studio 1535, Inspiron 1545, Studio 1555, etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLooking for some comments on the Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini-Card (wireless card). Could someone tell me it's effectiveness? As a college freshman I'd like a decent card but the XPS 13 is only offering that one.

I am thinking of buying a dell studio xps 13 laptop with this wireless card. Will I be able to connect to 802.11b/g networks? I have a us robotics 9108 router and I am using linux.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy WLAN 802.11g connection died yesterday when I was at the university and even after uninstalling and updating the drivers it's not waking up.
I have a D-Link DWA-140 USB adapter which work quite well still with 802.11n (though there are some trouble to get a connection when first starting up the laptop) but the "g" part of the wireless card seems completely dead.
I have looked at the bottom of the laptop and got a clue where the WLAN card could be because of the symbols, but I need to know what card I should get to replace the faulty one? Because I have to replace it right?
My Hp laptop is:
HP Pavilion dv5-1264eo Entertainment Notebook PC (NG169EA)

does anybody know if there is some way to set F1 to F6 as function keys and F7 to F12 as multimedia keys at the same time?
This would solve all my problems as I only really use F1 to F6 in windows and would like to be able to use the multimedia keys at the same time without having to change the function key behaviour in windows mobility center.
The only options so far are to set the entire function key row to either multimedia or function key first
A friend of mines Inspiron 1521 keeps getting a Dell Wireless WLAN error when windows vista home premium loads. No matter how I try to get into widows (normal or safemode) all I get is a black screen.
No taskbar, start menu, nothing, nada, zip. I found this thread that tells me what the issue is but I can't get to device manager to either uninstall the driver or update it .....
I have two apparently identical Inspiron 8500's. Intel Pentium 4-Mrated @ 2.4 Ghz.
One runs at 2.4 Ghz as shown in system properties, CPU-Z and other utilities.
The other runs at only 1.196 Ghz max, shows 1.196 Ghz in BIOS. Bios version A08 apparently the latest offered.
I've tried swapping batteries, power supplies and cooling fans. The fans and grills are clean, and the BIOS proves this isn't an issue of temperature or something that changes after bootup. I've installed speed switch XP, which also shows 1.196Ghz and nothing can be set in that program that changes it either.
I've downloaded the "Speedstep" software update from Dell ... no solutions there. It doesn't step down or up, just runs at max of 1.196 Ghz, which is of course noticeably slower than its twin.
My friends laptop a virus so I had to reinstall the OS and now I can't find the wireless drivers for Inspiron 14R (N4110)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have dell inspiron 3521 with windows 7 64 bit installed on it . I don't know from where i can download the wireless card driver. I tried to download the driver from dell website but it did not installed the wireless driver. I am unable to download my wireless driver for my dell 3521.
View 1 Replies View Relatedthe wireless driver on the Dell website does NOT work. Googling this problem leads me to believe that I am not the only one with it.
However I have not seen anyone with a solution; most people are just linked to the Dell website and the Dell driver, which doesn't work at all.
Laptop: Sony Vaio TZ31VN
Integrated Globetrotter HSDPA Wireless WAN, Bluetooth and Intel 4965AGN Wireless LAN, Windows XP SP3 (Official Sony XP Downgrade Build)
This one really has me stumped - I'd appreciate any suggestions!
In summary, I have a problem with my Sony VAIO TZ31 wherein I'm unable to use my WiFi. The Wireless Device Switcher utility (C:Program FilesSonyWireless Switch Setting UtilitySwitcher.exe version 4.0) no longer 'sees' my integrated WLAN card to give me the option of turning it on or off, however it does see both the Bluetooth and WWAN cards. The hardware switch on the front of the laptop is in the 'ON' position, and the Bluetooth and WWAN lights are illuminated, however the WLAN light isn't, and I can find no way of enabling it. The Bluetooth and WWAN are still working.
My problem determination so far:
The normal Windows Wireless Network Connection dialogue tells me immediately (i.e. doesn't seem to scan at all) that it can't find any networks and that I should check that my wireless is turned on. I have another several devices in the house that are seeing the network just fine, as does my iPhone right next to this laptop.
Running an `IPCONFIG ALL` from the command line suggests that it is physically still there:
Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1D-E0-C3-xx-xx
Checking in Windows Device Manager the `Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN' entry appears with no question marks or exclamation marks telling me there's a problem or that the device is disabled. Opening up the properties dialogue for this, the drop down box on the Advanced tab says 'Wireless On'. All other properties are on the default values....
Long time no see! I'm about to grab a Inspiron 1521 for $100, the problem is in the title. Run's fine, for a half an hour then shuts off.
My assumption is the maximum problems could be:
- Fans not working, resulting in an overheating: hence shutdown at max temp.
- Heatsinks or thermal compound issues, resulting in an overheating: hence shutdown at max temp.
- Rare possibility that it has a cold solder somewhere located in the mobo: hence shutdown after 30 minutes of running, generated heat build up .....

I was downlaoding/installing stuff one after the other..I Installed Chipset Drivers first.. Audio.. BIOS... then when I installed Display Driver it says "must instal intel® driver first"Then I tried installing the LAN driver.. it was successful.. but...when I installed the WLAN driver (the SP64786.exe) it just unloaded its contents and didn't continue installing.. View 8 Replies View RelatedFor a while now, my wireless has been cutting in and out and sometimes takes about a half hour to an hour to be able to connect again. Other laptops in the house connect to the same internet connection just fine. I met a girl last night who was saying how her internet wont connect anymore and she had the same laptop as me so I'm assuming its the computer and not the internet.
even before this issue though, the wireless networks window, when you click on the two computers to see the different connections, it always freezes to a white window to begin with and will take up til an hour to actually show the different connections.
This problem is incredibly annoying and i just want a solid internet connection without it cutting out .

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this system running on Win 8.1; The touchpad is possessed. It moves and click on its own half the time. I've upgraded the drivers to the latest 4/01/14 release but to no avail. I've even restored the system but the result is the same.
Steps I've tried which took nearly 50+ hours to do:
1) restore, uninstall dell drivers, update to newest drivers;
2) restore, and update to newest drivers over existing drivers (included in the restore)
3) performed steps 1 & 2 with and without WOW64
I've been having to use the mouse to save me from this, however, the touchpad still takes over and moves the cursor on its own, though less frequent.
Just got a new e6400 delivered (bought off the outlet). Seems I'm not able to get it to connect to my existing network (which has WPA-PSK encryption). I have a Netgear WGR614v4 router.
I spoke with tech support who told me that sometimes, some cards just don't support all routers ....
I'm debating whether to get the Inspiron 1440 or the Studio XPS 1340.
Can anyone speak for the build quality of the new Inspiron 1440?
I like the magnesium alloy chassis and sturdy backlit keyboard on the SXPS 13, but it will cost me about $200 more when configured to similar specs.
This laptop will be my main PC when I leave for school: which means it needs to be light/small/durable enough to carry into classes everyday, with the power and adequate cooling to use as a desktop replacement as well.
I don't want any significant flexing and cracking sounds (which many consumer-grade black/silver plastic chassis laptops have) when picking it up around the edges.
These are the configurations I came up with in which the Inspiron costs about $200 less than the SXPS:
Inspiron 1440: P8600, 4GB DDR2-800MHz, 900p LED, 320GB 5400RPM, GMA4500MHD
SXPS 1340: P8600, 4GB DDR3-1067MHz, CCFL, 320GB 7200RPM, GF 9400M
Laptop 3 years old and touchpad slowly stopped responding one night.
Downloaded new driver (ALPS Touchpad v7.1007.115.102. A05) no less than 3 times and had a partial success. Now right half of touchpad is ok but left half can only respond to up/down finger movements.
Run Dell diagnostics and all hardware is ok.
Run a full antiVirus scan and ok. Laptop says new driver is ok and running ok.
Touchpad does not work in BIOS and done a full diagnostic check and said the touchpad is fine!
Use of mouse is ok so not the end of the world!
Back to factory settings?
I have a Inspiron 1440 and I am thinking of adding bluetooth to it,do I need a harness or does it plug in and witch module does it call for, install pictures.
