I have used the search, and this is the same issue as many others have described, and only provided an answer for Nvidia drivers.
I have an e1505 with XP pro installed. The video cardis ati mobility x1400. I have all but the trackpad drivers installed. Quickset is installed as well. The problem is when I close the lid of the laptop. The screen seems to resize and keep the icons at a lower resolution position. If I restart the computer, the icons loose the position and go into a standard grid on the left side of the screen. I can manually restart explorer through task manager. If I do this before i restart, the icons go back to a normal, non changed position. After restart, there is no change.
This issue only started after I plugged in an external monitor for the first time.
I have turned off quickset, and reinstalled the ATI drivers.
I had to uninstall the current driver. After this it auto installed the old ati driver.
I uninstalled this one as well leaving me with the bare bones driver that comes with windows. After installing the modded driver again and restarting it began to work again................................................
My TV's native resolution is 1366 x 768. My VAIO FW-190 has Intel Chipset and both the Windows built in software and Intel provided graphic card settings software do not show the 1366x768 resolution. I can't find a way to set the Vaio's HDMI output to that resolution.
how to change the screen resolution but, it won't stay at recommended resolution when I restart my laptop, it keeps going back too the smallest resolution. I have to go and change the resolution every time I turn it back on.
My brother just bought an Acer Aspire 3680.He purchased 1 gig of DDR2 Memory from Crucial. When we get to the desktop the screen is fine at first then the screen goes off and back on with 8 bit display. 512 DDR2 came in the machine. Crucial site said he could mix memory sizes. I tried it with the 1 gig stick by itself in case the mixed memory was the problem. Same thing..I've tried 2 sticks of 512...same thing. I've tried 2 sticks of 1 gig each..same problem. This laptop won't allow any upgrade at all. Will only run correctly with (1) 512 stick. I've never seen this problem before. I've installed many memory sticks in computers. This is a first for me. What could be causing this?? Any advice would be appreciated. BTW. the computer shows the upgrade amount of memory but the display color keeps changing to 8 Bit! I change it back to 32 and it reverts back after a few moments to 8 Bit. I went to Acer and installed an updated driver for the Intel Graphics card thinking the driver would help. I haven't installed a bios update yet. Called Acer and they said to return it for repair.
I have a Thinkpad E530 which has a 1366x768 display panel. Unfortunately, This resolution began to be low for my usage (some applications don't even enter the screen entirely!), so I'm searching for a higher resolution panel (like 1600x900 or 1920x1080). Could this be made or the new screen wouldn't work?
I can't change my monitor's resolution and the screen brightness after I upgrade the windows from windows 7 ultimate to windows 8.1 pro build 9600I've already installed graphic card , but i can't change my resolution more than 1024x768 My laptop is HP 431 with intel core i3-2310m CPU @ 2.10 GHz , AMD Graphics HD 7450M , DDR3 1 GB (i don't know why , but i've already installed AMD Graphics HD 7400M Series because my notebook isn't compatible with other AMD Graphics) , OS 64-bit
i sometimes connect my notebook to the tv and watch films while doing something else at the same time. I tried Nvidias Dualview and Presentation Mode through the Fn+F8 key. But every time i want to watch just the tv and i close the lid - the dualview function turns off and the tv becomes the primary screen. But it gets worse - when i open the lid, the TV is still primary and the laptop lcd becomes the extended desktop.
I have E1705 and I use the 169.04 drivers and I ask you for help - is there any way to make the close lid event only turn off the backlight, without messing up the whole screen settings?
I own a Dell Inspiron 3521, and I'd been having an issue with apps not opening and closing when I do try. I went to fix this error. That's when I made a grave mistake. Somewhere along the line of me trying to fix it, I messed with something I shouldn't have and when I finished with my task, I was told to restart the computer to activate the settings. After I turned it back on it seemed normal up to the point after I saw the dell logo. It went black. At first I made the assumption that since I changed settings that it was still trying to configure them. But soon after, I saw my mouse and a little signal flash in the bottom left of my screen. So I checked around and found out that I needed to reinstall windows with disc or USB. But I don't have access to either of those.
I am trying to see what might be wrong with the Dell Latitude 2110. When I close the lid power shuts off. You can not turn it back on unless you take out the batter and power supply then plug it back in. The power settings in windows xp are all to never shut off. I also replaced the power jack and it did not change. I did a dell test and it gave me a error 2000-0412 auxilary lcd cable not detected error 0412 and error 0411 lcd board not detected error code 2000-0411. I have a display and everything just have the power problem when shutting the lid.
I am having dell inspiron N4010 for past 2 years now suddenly there s some crackling sound while closing the lid.i cant find any dust or anything in that area.
When I need to take my laptop to class, I always close the lid of the laptop, wait for the fans to turn off, unplug the magsafe and put in in my backpack.
When i get my laptop from my bag, the computer is vibrating (its on) and its burning.
how can I change the notebook's settings so when I close the lid it does not hibernate or sleep or whatnot? Is there a way to make it so it just turns off the screen and leaves everything else on?
Today i bought an Inspiron 5547 and i have an issue when closing and opening the lid. The issue is get screen artifacts like if were pressing the screen with my finger. Is this normal?
My Dell N5110 has started not stutting down completely although it looks like it has shut down the power light is still on and I have to press the power light for about 10 sec to get it to go off. Also if I am working on the laptop and just shut the lid it won't wake up when I open the lid Have tried pushing every button but nothing happens Have to press the power button to shut down and then restart. I have changed all the power settings many times but nothing fixes the problem.
My 5750 wont boot past the acer logo screen which just keeps opening and closing. F2 wont work. One time I got to the safe mode screen by hitting F8 but now that is not engaging either. I removed the RAM and cleaned them well. I also tried removing any left over power static by pressing power for about a minute. I do not have any cds for this machine since it was given to me used and it has worked fine for months until i recently removed a virus called DOS....
Helix does not sleep after closing lid, even though I set to let it sleep in power plan in windows. I previously do not have this problem. Not notice anything changed.
I'm trying to repair a G6 model due to heat issues. The laptop is approx. 1 year old. From what I could read from the internet, It's due to dust build up mainly. 've completely cleaned the fan (incl. unmounting the fan cover), and change thermal paste on the CPU. The issue persists. With the program Speccy I read starting temps. for CPU of 90 degrees celsius. It's very different when the laptop shuts down. Sometimes it happens quick, other times it can run for hours. Even if the CPU is completely cold, it can shut down before windows even starts properly up. I manage to see temperatures over 150 degrees celsius which should be alarming high. Even 90 degrees seems VERY high to me. The air blown out from the fan doesn't seem hot. It's only mildly warm and the fan speed adjusts in accordance to the temperature. It starts to go up when going over 100 degrees. At 90-99 degrees it runs fairly slow.
If I try going to the BIOS, I only have seconds in there before the laptop shut down.
From my point of view, it must me either temperature sensors not working properly, or handling of the temperature sensors that's misinterpret, or simply the cooling system that's defect. I'm not sure how the cooling system works. The seating has a cobber pipe the leads to the radiator and fan. Does the pipe contain a fluid? Could the fluid somehow have vaporized?
I've had the cooling system dismounted? I haven't tried updating the BIOS, since I'm afraid I'll brick the laptop, if it shut down during the process.
Where is the temperature sensors placed on the board? Is the sensor for the CPU built in or is it placed besides/under it?
the empty hole next to the clip where i clips the screen when you close it. To my guess is a 5-1 reader because i also have a modem port . My question is , is it normal that there is an empty hole with no casing inside? I mean there isn't a casing like for sd card or something , just an empty hole . What can i use it for since there is no casing for sd card? This is a picture i found from google.URL....

I have a brand new Thinkpad Yoga (20CD-CT01WW), running windows 8.1 64-bit, 8g RAM. Intel Core i7-4600U @ 2.10Ghz / 2.70Ghz
When using any program in desktop mode (first noticed it on Chrome, then Quicken, but really applies to any use), the cursor will randomly jump across the screen, usually to the upper right, and then without clicking, will close the window I'm working on, often losing my work. Sometimes I'll get random right-click menus without clicking the mouse buttons. I am using the track-point primarily, so thinking it might be inadvertent contact with the touchpad, I disabled all touch-pad functionality, but the problem persists.
I ran Norton Internet security, AdAware, and Malwarebytes to look for viruses but didn't find any problems. Just ran Lenovo update, and downloaded the most recent Ultra-Nav Driver. Now both touch-pad and track-point are using default settings, but the problem still persists.
I'm wondering if this a hardware or driver problem, or a windows 8.1 problem?
Why is it that I went to the Crucial website to look up RAM and it told me to use PC2-5300. I Purchased 2GB RAM from Crucial and my E1505 boots slowly. It's fine when it gets to windows. But, Why has it slowed my boot time down. I have DOS version A17.
The computer came with PC2-4200. Obviously I should have gotten PC2-4200. But, What is the problem. I will be removing the new RAM and reverting back to the PC2-4200 and forgetting the PC2-5300
dell inspiron e1505 laptop win xp pro sp3 Dell BIOS A15 Core2 cpu t5500 @ 1.66ghz 1g DDR PC2-5200 ram nvidia gforce go 7300 256mb
I really want to put 4gb of ram in this thing, but i learned through reading other posts on this forum that my BIOS limits it to 2gb. has anyone tried to put 4gb in an e1505 successfully?? I dont want to buy 4gb and have it not work, but i really want to upgrade to as much ram as possible.
