I will be downloading something then at random times it looses connectivity and i will have to turn off my wifi and turn it back on then it works for a couple minutes and stops working once again.
I have an Acer notebook and I really want to have wifi always on. I accidentally keep turning off the wifi every once in a while,
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using internet from various sources, but now I want to share internet from my HP Envy M6 n012dx TouchSmart via Wifi Hotspot.. So How do I set up a Wifi Tethering Hotspot connection so that other devices can leech internet from me?
Also, I would like to set up Wifi Direct for file sharing with my Phone..I tired everything in my knowledge.. I even installed Intel PROSet/Wireless Tools Software too for Wifi HotSpot but it's not working either..
By the way, I'm using Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160..
I bought my HP 15 a few days ago and since yesterday (after I restarted it) it can't find my network. Also, sometimes it finds all the surrounding networks, sometimes one or two, sometimes none of them, but it never shows mine.

All my other devices connect to the network just fine and also when I connect the laptop via Ethernet cable internet works normally. I tried reinstalling the adapter and driver, but nothing happens, the problem is still here.
Looks like atheros is highly recommended but I'm not sure if I have to be concerned about compatibility (meaning if drivers will be an issue)

I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 which has no built in wireless.
I got given to me a 'Broadcom 4318 KFBG' mini pci card which I think should work.
The problem:
As soon as I put the card into the PCI slot (and Yes its seated properly) and bootup the laptop, nothing shows on the display not even the post messages.
Running windows XP SP2 and I also tried running 2 different live linux versions and still no display on the screen, its like there is some kind of hardware conflict but I'm lost at where to go next.
I Need a faster WIFI for my 9400, now i had 54Mbit , but i will take 100 or 300 Mbit.
But i dont know witch one can i take.
I was having trouble of being disconnected every 2 minutes so I thought to reinstall the OS.
But my bad luck, I 4got the password for my wifi. Can anyone tell me how to find the password as I have saved it in Intel wifi. here is the screen for how it looks? Any way to find my password?
Just got a new Latitude (my fourth this year), and when I toggle the switch on the side to turn it on/off, it doesnt turn off. The "WIFI" indicator light in the upper right side is also not turning off

View 7 Replies View RelatedWell after my 1710 died, I requested the Studio XPS16 and finally got it. The thing is, its not working as planned.
I am not a noob to this, but I am stuck. I have (according to the Order Page) the Dell 1520 WLAN card. I downloaded the drivers and it still won't work. The WiFi light is on, but the laptop still thinks its disabled. When I go to enable it, it says it will be enabled, but it is stuck in disabled. Do I have a dud here?
I wiped the computer, reinstalled all the drivers... but maybe I am missing something?
i installed W7 on my m1530 and nearly all driver were installed.. at present no prob.. but my wifi catcher doesnt work
i dont want bloat the new OS with DELL softwares.. i havent installed anything from thier CD`s so far on this OS ( w7 )
is there way to make the wifi catcher button driver to work?
After almost 7 services by the *always gentle* Dell techs, im getting a new problem, my WIFI reception is just crud, being right next to my router i get 4 bars... and if i get a little farther apart it will loose signal and oscillate between 3 bars and 1 bar, and sometimes even disconnect all of a sudden on places i always had good signal, and reconnecting will fail a couple of times before its successfully connects. ( ive tried this with several different routers, and the same happens )
is it possible that my WIFI antennas were damaged? or could it also be my wireless card? ( intel N 4950 )
i have already checked where the 3 antennas connect to the card and they seem ok.
anyone tried running their xps1530 with multiple wi-fi cards?
View 10 Replies View Relatedi'm just going thru Dell site to build my specs for laptop and I get to the WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY part ... which card should I choose? what's the difference between them? which is best .... here are the options:
Dell Wireless 1397 Mini Card (802.11 b/g) [Included in Price]
Intel WiFi Link 5100 (802.11 a/b/g/n 1X2) 1/2 MiniCard [add £20.00 or £1/month1]
Dell Wireless 1520 Half Mini Card (802.11n)
I've decided on getting a 1555 but there are a few nice to have's upgrade options, can someone tell me what the advantage are pls?
1) Bluetooth (£35 ~ $58)
Apart from allowing me to perhaps transfer files to my mobile phone for example
(which I hardly do) and maybe use a bluetooth mouse without the little dongle. What else can I use it for? I do prefer using a mouse over the touchpad, does the bluetooth use much power from the laptop .....
When I customize a Dell 15/17 or XPS 16, there are only options for Dell wifi cards. I believe these are Broadcom cards. I dual boot Linux distros and Broadcom cards are generally a headache for Linux users. I also don't like that Dell doesn't include the same Intel wifi card options as they do for their Latitude and Precision series .....

Just wanted to know, is it better to use the driver provided by Dell's Driver downloads or should I grab the Intel Driver from Intel's site?
I've got a problem with a brand new SXPS 1340, and I can't figure out if the trouble is in the hardware or the software...
On Vista, the wireless keeps dropping out and loosing connection... or fails to establish connection. This laptop is the only computer in my network that's affected; all other systems run fine (including a really OLD Dell laptop with an equally old external MS WiFi card... oh, the irony!).
Also... you know how when you search for WiFi networks it takes a while? Well, when it starts to go haywire, it seems to search for networks instantly, as if the card were off.
But what makes me think this is a software issue, is the fact that when I installed Windows 7, the WiFi worked flawlessly (and seemed to have better signal strength) with the built in drivers... and went haywire AFTER I had installed the drivers from Dell's site. (I'm in the process of confirming this right now; setting up W7 again and I'm going to run a "ping router /t" for a while.* )
I am literally 2 feet from my Verizon FIOS Wireless router and this thing gets 2 of 5 bars. When in the other room, it sees zero networks.
This worked fine a few days ago. I doubt its interference because I have a PS3, Wii and a Macbook all connecting fine from the same room.
I have the Dell controlpoint on here to use my ATT card... but otherwise it doesnt control wifi. I reinstalled windows from the CD and used the latest drivers from dell
My Wireless network is showing as "Not Connected" but it's really connected, I'm on the laptop now posting this message.
It's a "free" wireless domain at the hospital I am at right now.
When I am at home, I normally connect VIA wired connection since I use my laptop for gaming a lot, helps keep the connection more stable.
I went into my preferred networks and deleted them all. Still nothing has changed.
is this suppose to work? it never lights up. the one to the right of the wifi led.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 Ultimate on my XPS 1340. I currently have the Dell 1515 Card, which gives me terrible signal quality.
I'll have it 5 feet away from a G router and I get a Poor signal with drops every 5-10minutes. In comparison, both my ipod touch and my blackberry bold get perfect reception even outside my house.
I've tried everything I've seen on this forum and Google, which is basically installing the atheros modded drivers, which doesn't work at all for me (seeing as I can't uninstall the dell drivers, only update over them)
I got my s15 a few months ago. All was well except that I noticed my wifi catcher doesn't work properly. The manual says it should work like this:
Flashing white: Searching for networks
Solid white for 10 seconds and then turns off: Network found
Off (flashing white turns off after 10 blinks): No signal found
Also my catcher never even does '10 blinks' as above, it is always just 3.
When windows is running, the same button works and launches the available networks utility so the physical button works.
I've tried my catcher (always with laptop off) in numerous places including my own home (where my home wifi network is available) and coffee shops where there is a public hotspot. On numerous occassions I have gone into a coffee shop with the machine off. I've pressed the catcher and got
Flashing white: Searching for networks (well, 3 blinks)
Off (flashing white turns off after 10 (well, 3 in my case) blinks): No signal found
After this I've booted up and found / connected to a network straight away.
Last night I tried 'dell chat' with a support teccy and I got absolutely nowhere. Although they admitted that the catcher should work as I've said, they refused to accept mine wasn't working. They basically said they cannot help me.
I am looking for advice here if possible please folks. OK, so I know its not the end of the world but I hate having a feature on my laptop that does not work. I've effectively got a useless button that does nothing but flashes a pretty light 3 times when I press it.
I recently did a road trip in the US and booked my hotels as I went. The catcher would have been very useful here.
My suspicions with this are that it is either a) my laptop came with the higher
DELL WIRELESS 1510 (802.11N) card, or that its got 4gb of ram on vista 32 (home premium).
My g/f s inspiron's catcher works fine but she has the lower intel card.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I do about this? Really I think Dell should be fixing this as its one of the advertised features of the s15. I think I'd like to escalate this further but not sure who to speak to.
I had purchased new xps 14z L412z but after 3 months WiFi is not working in my laptop. I had uninstall driver centrino 6230 and try to re install back but I am unable to install the driver it's shows error while installing the driver.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought the new DELL XPS 14 ULTRABOOK Â about a month ago and since then i have had recurring non stop wifi issues !
it starts, when the computer goes in to sleep mode and it "wakes up" not able to find networks.
then, it just randomly stops finding networks and disconnects in the middle of usage.
and then, the wifi card is not detected AT ALL by the device manager.
I called dell support and they replaced my WIFI card. it worked for about a week and a half give or take and now im writing this post connected to my iphone 3G network through usb cable. luckily, the iphone is not using USB 3.0 protocol or else i wouldnt be able to do even that BECAUSE THE USB 3.0 PORTS ARE NOT WORKING TOO !
My xps keeps dropping off my wifi and I have to switch it on and off rapidly to get it to come back on. Does this mean that the switch is knackered.
Its out of warranty and I don't know if its worth having it repaired as its over 5 years old. I'm running windows 8.
Got our new XPS-15, 9530 Base model last night, and the WFIF will not stay on.
Over 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support, and they are sending out a Tech to replace the WIFI card. I'm not even sure it is the WIFI card as he gave up trouble shooting it when he couldn't stay on Remote Access.
the worst of it was the two hours on the phone, it was pure hell, and I told the Techs supervisor about it afterwards.
I hope this isn't the future of this computer, as a new non functioning computer is not a good start.
This is really pushing me towards an Apple MacBook Pro.
