Anyone have a 15" high res mbp yet. Im looking for feedback on the screen quality, i would get an antiglare but im assuming the lcd is the same so feedback.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of purchasing a 15" MBP and am debating between the standard screen and the high resolution screen. I had a studio xps 16 with the 1080p screen and though it looked great so I would ideally like to get the high resolution screen. However, I wanted to see if I could get some opinions on the readability of the screen, is text readable? Does Mac OS contain a feature like Win 7 where you can increase the text size? I really liked the look and extra space higher resolution screens offer but did notice on the studio xps that without increasing the text size text (which it did by default) text and menus were too small. What are your opinions on the macbook's high resolution screen, which do you prefer?

View 2 Replies View RelatedUpdate your Chrome browser to Version 37.0.2062.94 m and above ... It works fantastic with the Y2P and the text is so sharp now for high res laptops running Windows ...
I've just updated mine 15 minutes ago, haven't come across any bugs or usability issue.
Touching on the screen when typing still does bring up the OnScreen Keyboard ...
Oh well ... At least the text is much sharper now compared to the previous versions of browsers ... I have a Y2P (i5) ...
Does Microsoft Office take advantage of Ultra High Def or QHD screen resolution? Or, do you have to downgrade resoution to 1080p.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have noticed on the dell site that they have replaced their high end systems with alienware...what a laughter for such a large company...cannot dell make there own systems anymore...even the high end desktops are being replaced with
alienware...its like chevy replacing there impala with a buick...bad move. lot of things dell had been doing lately that is non -consumer....sort of got to the point where i don,t look at the dells anymore...
so many notebooks that are non- configurable....no amd,s cpu anymore, no doubt intels are a bit faster in the desktop., but amds would be a nice second choice,,,,and they are not that much slower.
lot of bad decisions by the top brass at dell...when i buy a system,,,i want some configuration options....in a notebook, i usually want nivida, because i like to mess with linux...doens,t dell understand things like this...i don,t think they even think about it.
I know I have already asked this question, but I'm really concerned. I have a xps 16, and after it wakes up CPU stays above 80% for the entire time.
I just talked to a dell techie and they said it might be caused by a virus. What do you think? It's brand new and I have McAfee on all the time. (I ran fn+power on diagnose, everything's fine)
I get an average fps of 31 using DX9 Very High Cvars along with a Very High config, this running in DX9 in Vista with 8800m GTX overclocked to 625/1500/950 and this at 1920x1200 native res on my XPS M1730 ...
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have problem with my Dell M4400 it very hot (CPU temp ~ 50C), my system - Q9100, FX770 etc. I think have problem with heatsink systems. What I do? Perhaps, some people have Portable M4400 with CUP like me (Q9100 or QX9300). If some people have this CPU help me, please. Which serial number heatsink you have in your portable systems with CPU Q9100 or QX9300. I must change it but I don`t know serial number.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi just received my sxps 16 ... generally very happy with it ..but when the cpu in full load for like 5 mins .. the cpu temp will shoot to very high about 85'C ..is it normal ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am noticing my second m6400 (Qx9300, Nvidia 3700, Vista64 Ultimate, A03 bios) is behaving differently than the first. The fan is pulsing on and off at idle (left hand fan) and it's driving me nuts.
I checked with speedfan and HWmonitor and notice that it idles 59-61 degrees celsius. I think this appears to be a lot hotter than other's temps I see here. (I saw someone mentioning they idle @ 39C)
It seems my idle GPU temps are pretty high. I just embarked on a mission to clean my fan out. I believe I was successful, but the whole thing was a little out of my comfort zone.
I'm now experiencing slightly cooler GPU temps i think (around 42-46 C at idle) but the GPU temp at idle is at a very steady 68 - 69 C, and the fan just keeps running all the time. Maybe I should have paid more attention to what the temps were beforehand, but it's too late for that.
Was wondering if this was something to be concerned about. Do I possibly have a bad contact between the thermal system and the GPU, and should I try and connect it more securely?
I have my m1530 for almost two years, and in last 2 months (after I've installed windows 7) i'm having troubles with my graphic card (nvidia g8600m gt). The problem is that in every game after few minutes there is a sudden drop of FPS. For example if i have a FPS of 50 after 2-5 minutes it goes down to 20. I checked my CPU and Memory load but there is nothing strange.
I have latest Nvidia drivers: 197.16
I also included as attachment a log file of GPU load and temp after playing 10 minutes of CoD 5.
I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the heatsink on my m1330. It seems like the fan never turns off of full and the palm resets are always pretty warm (although it is summer and I don't use my AC).
I idle around 54C on both cores of my t8300. Is this normal or should I replace the thermal pad/paste?
I just started playing L4D. And monitored my temperatures.
My GPU was getting 88c
CPU was getting 98c
Aren't these dangerous temperatures?
I'm using an Inspiron 1520
8600m GT
2.0 Core 2 Duo
Vista
Is this the same technology and amazing screen as the XPS Studio 16? Anyone have this screen care to comment? I'm looking for a very bright and high quality screen and the Studio 17 seems like a perfect replacement for my Asus W2V.

Now we have several great games coming in the end of the year . I dont think my laptop would handle them since i see that people with M1710s are experiencing problems .
Thus i have a choice between 3 brands on gaming laptops . My budget is around 3000$ .

Wondering if these temps are acceptable in a laptop or not?
Temps idling 3-10% cpu = 57-67C
Fan feels the need to go into hairdryer mode every 5 minutes or so to bring the temp down a few C.
under load core 1 + 2 = 100%
core 1 = 88-90C
core2 = 90-92C
Also i will add this is currently in a very cold room.
would you say these are acceptable temps or not?
also not overly impressed with the build quality. keyboard bezel popping out in certain sections after 4 months.
I did a search and found a couple threads but didn't see any fixes. I just received a 1645 w/ 720QM processor and 128GB SSD. Even when my laptop is idle it makes a high pitched noise on and off continuously. Is there a fix for this? It's driving me nuts. I have the latest A08 bios.
It seems to be the hard drive or CPU. When running a HDD benchmark the noise changes immediately to a more intense pattern. It's not very loud but when the room is silent I can easily hear it.
I just bought a Studio XPS 1340. 64 bit windows vista is installed. When I tried to put the computer in High Performance mode, it just shuts off. I have the upgraded 256 "hybrid" graphics card. I kept trying to use it in High Performance but the computer would just shut off after a minute or so.
I called dell, the rep stated that you cannot use high performance mode with 64 bit vista with only 4 gigs of ram (which i have) she said that in order to use high performance mode I need to buy a new computer with 32 bit OS installed, or upgrade mine to 8 gigs of RAM. I have waited forever for this thing and I dont understand why I cannot use high performance mode with 4 gigs of RAM? Is this really true?? Why would they sell a computer that does not work with the configured setup.
That was after playing 25 minutes of Starcraft 2 Beta. I know SC2 is more CPU intensive so it's understandable that the CPU gets pretty hot, but is 82C too hot? That's the hottest I've seen it. My GPU was only 73C.
If it matters, the CPU is an i5-430M and I'm also using the Logitech N100 cooling pad (which doesn't really seem to help since the fan is just blowing at the metal cover rather than into the vents).
Would updating my BIOS make it run cooler? I just got the laptop about a week ago and I'm not entirely sure how to go about updating the BIOS.
I have latitude e6500 p9500/4gb ram/nvs 160m/wxga+ LED/500gb hdd/win xp sp3. With 6cell battery i have discharge rate 15-16W in idle state at low brightness and wireless off. Web surfing thru wi-fi - 19W power consumption.

I've recently bought a dell studio 15. It's got a tsstcorp dvd +-rw ts-t633a ata, Radeon hd3400 and high definition sound devices..... yet I tried to play a hd dvd and the dvd player just kept ejecting the dvd and couldn't play it.
is it possible to play hd dvd's on my laptop?
I'm encoding MKV to PS3AVCHD and the temp for the GPU is hovering around 90C. I will be encoding it for ~12 hours.
Should I be concern about it? The palm rest doesn't get too warm
I can hear almost constantly a high pitch noise coming from the area where the key A and S are. what is it?
I doubt that is the HDD since it is more south. Also it's not the fan, I can distinguish the noise made by the fan.
I should probably record it with my microphone.
Recently bought a E6400 with T9600 and intel GPU. See signature for more details. I'm running windows 7 x64.
My problem is that the fan goes on "high" very quickly in my opinon. It will stay like this until i stop surfing or doing stuff. If i stop it will go down until i start work again.
I wanted to check with others what kind of experience you got with the E6400 and the fan noise. I need to use headphones while working, and using the laptop in the sofa while the wife is watching tv is out of the question!
