which ('version')/ date your laptop was made/shipped from the factory.
I need this info to compare it to another one of the same kind that was purchased this week.. I want to know if HP has released a 'second generation' of some kind.. or just improved something significantly.
I own an HP Pavilion dv6000.
I am constantly losing my time and sometimes date. I have checked that I have selected the correct time zone many times. The clock always jumps backwards, not forward and it is never a set amount of time. However it is usually between 30-45 minutes back. Very rarely the date will randomly jump back several years. I'm not sure what the problem is.
Some friends have told me it could be:
1)Virus or such, but i have done several scans already.
2) Dying CMOS battery
3) Or something about BIOS time being off, I'm not sure what it meant.
I guess if it is the CMOS battery, is there anything i should know before replacing it (like saving some settings or something?) or can i just unscrew the back of my laptop pop out the battery and pop in a new one?
I ordered a dell xps m 1750.. for a new business I have started.. it was due to arrive a week before a meeting so that I could use it for this meeting,
they havent told me that it was going to take an extra 2 weeks to arrive and I found out by checking the tracker!
what the best driver is to date for Crysis? And where i can get it? I downloaded the latest driver dell has but am still seeing performance issues..

How accurate are the preliminary shipping dates posted when you are customizing a system online? If I select an option that may delay the ship date, is the estimated delay only a precaution or does it actually delay by that much?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI ordered a Dell Prcision M4400 mobile workstation on April 27th. It is now MAY 27th and I STILL don't have my computer!
Every week, on the day the order is scheduled to ship, the shipping date is suddenly shifted one more week away. So far, this has happened to me 4 times!
When I call Dell they always assure me that such-and-such is the ship date, but then, yet again, the ship date is delayed another week. It doesn't matter if I explain what has been happening - they just repeat back like a parrot that the system says that it will ship on such-and-such a date.
I can see that for myself on the website! What I wanted was some kind of an explaination for the ridiculous delays and some kind of an assurance that I'll be getting my computer sometime within the current epoch
so this is my first time buying a laptop from dell and im a little confused about the estimated ship date.
It says that my estimated ship date is april 20th so does that mean they will ship the item on the 20th or will it will arrive at my house on the 20th?
and also how long does it usually take for the item to arrive after it has shipped from the warehouse?
What do you think about my configuration?

I will be using this mainly for 3D Cad work, presentations and some gaming and I have a few questions before ordering regarding the processor and then the optical drive.
1. Is it worth it to go to the t9550 over the p8700 for the processing power and dealing with increased heat issues and power consuption?
2. I won't do much blu-ray so is it better to stay with the 8x DVD since is faster at reading and writing in general?
3 I ask because of the wonderful dell-hell I'm in. I have to order with one of these upgrades to keep my price up (over 1504)and get the restocking fee back from a previous order. (Processer +$125 and blu-ray +$150) Which one would you choose if you had to?

Dell and win 7 upgrade estimated shipping date
today while im browsing win7 dell upgrade program i found this new thing appear to me
Estimated Shipping date is 12/04/2009 Well its 1 month and 7 days sound good so far
Has anyone encountered abnormally long ship dates for recently ordered laptops?
I ordered a Studio 15 / Mini 9 combo about a week ago and the ESD for the Mini 9 is next week, and the ESD for the Studio 15 is early December. In the past I've gotten my custom-ordered laptops within a week of ordering.
I also noticed that the Purchase ID info does not show billing or shipping info, although I did receive email confirmation with that info.
What's going on? Will I receive lemons because Dell is making everyone take unpaid leave?
anyone know hows the build quality of the Studio 14z?? Does the chassis and palm rest flex a lot?? is the palm rest really.
prone to scratches?? I know its made of plastic, and im worried that its a really cheap feeling, non durable laptop...is this the case?...
I booked my XPS 430 on 7th August, but it was in process from 13th August and Today on 20th in Order Status Page Show Manufacturing build completed in Malyasion Factory.

How's the build quality on E6410 compared to Thinkpad T410? Creaks, flexing, etc? I'm almost sure this month my next purchase won't be a Thinkpad and Latitude seems to be a good choice. Our office use them.
I currently have a 6-year old T41 and 2-year old T61. I'll miss the keyboard and trackpoint but i can live with that.
OPTICAL DRIVE BAY
I have an utrabay HDD adaptor on my T42 does E6410 have the same? I can only see a travel lite module.
Im thinking seriously about buying a M6400 How is the build quality?
Are there many problems, because im not sure if i will be in a region where dell has decent represantatives, i need it to be stable and reliable, no repairs needed.
I was just wondering and this may have already been asked, but does Dell build laptops/desktops on weekends?
I would think with so many orders they get they would have to, but I am not so sure.
I placed an order for an XPS laptop to be built during mid-week last week, and my thought process is that they
will build as much as they can for the customers machine during the weekdays, but will set it aside until the next week comes around and take the weekend off?
I can't play movies without them making distorted audio. All my drivers are solid, and I use powerdvd and media player.
if you try to play it in media center it does not know there is a dvd in the drive.
I am in the markey for either an E6400 or an M4400. I like the power of the M4400 and the looks but I have heard some stuff about the lid not being as sturdy as it looks.
Is it made of metal as the lid of the E6500 is?
Which is a more durable laptop in yor opinion?
Is there anyone running Windows 7 build 7077 on xps 1640, I cant get none on my media button to work.
Can someone else with 7077 let me know if there buttons work.
I went from the official Beta 1 build 7000 to build 7022 last night, and so far I am very pleased. Greatest benefit so far has got to be the vastly improved stability of IE8 RC1, as well as overall system stability. Anyone else make the switch?

-I7 820
-8G Ram
-128g SSD
-RGB Screen
-Blue-Ray
The machine runs beautifully and the screen is amazing but I am having what seems to be an incredible amount of build quality issues. I wanted to know if others have had the same issues and how they resolved them...
-The tech is coming for a second time to fix my screen. It came out of the box with a large scratch. The second screen has several dead pixels.
-Above the keyboard, in front of the screen, the batter (9-cell) doesn't fit flush
-The Sound is uneven. It is FAR louder coming out of the right side than the left. The settings in the control panel seem fine.

How would the build quality compare with both of these notebooks?

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow is the Build quality of Precision M4400 compared to the M65/M4300 ?
I was taken aback by the following post: ...
Assuming a vostro, inspiron and studio have the same processor + gfx card, what is the difference between all three? any upgradable components like RAM, HDD, DVDRW, mini-pci, etc doesnt count.
Is there a build difference - I am really liking the new Inspiron 1464 and its brushed metal look, but I want to figure out whether the build is better on a vostro/studio?
Does it have a metal chassis ? Does it have a metal lid ? How do the plastic components feel ?
I believe it does NOT have creaks ?
Does the paint job wear off ?
I have searched to no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I bought a sealed box 8530w off eBay. Now I know from previous HP business models that the warranty start date on the online lookup tool starts from the day the laptop was manufactured. This hasn't ever been an issue in the past, since I got previous laptops second hand anyway.
But this one is already nearly 6 months into its 3 year warranty. I guess it has been sitting around sealed in its box for a while.
So...
1. Is there any way I can get HP to update the warranty start date? (I'm getting an invoice from the seller as we speak)
2. Assuming I can, will that new warranty start date be reflected in the online lookup?
3. Will the new warranty start date be transferable if I sell the laptop, or will it only apply to me, with my name on the invoice?
