I need resetting my Dell Inspiron. My laptop was running really slow so I decided to reset my laptop but when
I did, an error came up and I couldn't reset it. I can send you if a photo if you wish just message me cause the photo size is too big I can't upload it.
I am currently on my dell xps 14z laptop. Ive been having some software issues and I want to reset my computer. I tap f8 like the tutorials say, then I go to repair, state my location and which account to use, but it doesn't have the normal Dell Factory Image Or Dell factory tools for the bottom option. It only has a link to the command prompt window. So how can I factory reset my computer without formatting my hard drive.

After a installing a few updates and program I noticed strange system beaver. So I did a system file check and it came back that files was corrupt and cold not be repaired.So I did a new fresh Windows install. But it to became corrupt after just running Windows Update and Lenovo System Update.So I ran some hard drive and memory diagnostic without find and problems.
Then I did a new Windows 7 install again. After I installed all recommended updates from Windows Update I did a system file check, all OK. The I installed Lenovo System Update and all its recommended updates and did a new system file check, Windows system files corrupt. What Lenovo update is destroying the system?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Inspiron Mini 1012. I created the restore factory image on a usb through the Dell DataSafe local backup program that it came with. Had no problem installing it. But when I turn on computer and boot into the usb I get an all black screen with the following. BTW the laptop has no problem starting up regularly no issues at all. Will be selling and want to wipe the drive.

Bought this new laptop yesterday HP Pavilion dv5-1235dx from Bestbuy, we purchased a recovery disc and in order to make this disc the bextbuy personnel had to configure the network, when we brought it home and tried it on our network we can see all pc's on the network but we cannot access any pc's file on the C drive and we cannot access this laptop's C drive from any of the other pc's on the network and the error message does not give a reason why, I called up HP and they are telling me I have to pay for support for this issue which I will not so anyone here have any ideas please?
I disabled the Vista firewalls on all pc's and uninstalled all anti-virus systems on the laptop.
I just bought an apple Time Capsule and started using it last night, router and switch works great, but can I use that as an external harddrive, because I tried to transfer files from my laptop to time capsule but it always gives me errors saying that the device is disconnected and whatnot. Anyone got any words on how to use it as an external harddrive freely? By the way, I use it on my Windows 7.

The Internet tells me to press F8 on start up then go into Repair your Computer but I don't have this option on the menu. I recently purchased an Inspiron 17R SE and have been trying to move all my files, music, videos, etc. from my old desktop PC.
I've successfully transferred about 750GB of data to my USB3.0 backup drive. When I plug it into my new laptop, it appears fine and I can start copying files from it. However, after about 5 minutes of copying, it stops and the Windows Explorer windows close. If I try again, it copies fine for 5 minutes then everything stops again.
I've tried plugging the drive into different ports but the same problem occurs. I've also tried plugging it into a different PC and I can copy the files no problem.
I have an Inspiron 15R N1150(Core i5 2450m) running the latest A10 'BIOS'My research shows, that the AMI Aptio platfrom is a UEFI based one, but when I cross references photographs of other Aptio BIOS's with mine, I see that I am missing the UEFI Boot option under my boot tab. How am I supposed to go about installing Windows 7 over GPT if I can properly make use of EFI?

I tried connecting the hard drive directly to a desktop pc since it's a sata hard drive, but my desktop pc just froze on the boot screen whenever this hard drive was connected.
I also was going to try and use a hard drive external case to maybe connect it to the pc this way, but I wasn't sure if it would work

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has been messed up ever since I updated it.It all started when I got a notification to update to windows 8.1. It was all good until the next day when I started it up and it would not pick up any Internet connection even though I knew my router was working as I could get an Internet connection on my mobile. I went to the network and sharing center and it said there that it was disabled so I right clicked on it to enable it. After I clicked it, my laptop went to a blue screen and came up with the following message something like this: we've encountered a problem, we're gathering some error info and we will restart your device.
So, it restarted and I tried to re enable the network again and the same thing happened. After about 5 tries the restart thing kept happening. I didn't know what to do so I thought to just restore the laptop. I did that and now it's just in this continuous blue screen restart loop. I can't even get to the log in Window, it just keeps going to the blue Window and then restarting.This is a new laptop, not even 6 months old and it was fine until I was told to update. I'm thinking of just taking it into the repair Centre as I have warranty and I feel as if I can't fix this problem myself as I can't even get into my actual desktop.
I have m170 laptop which has a fried motherboard but the harddrive works, also I need my stuff from this harddrdive like my mp3's, pictures, and videos.
I also have inspiron working 9400 laptop. I wanted to know how can I get back these files and put it in the 9400 harddrive because I cant use the m170 laptop to get it back.

I have an Aspire 2920 laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition O.S. It starts and works fine except that after I was using it with an external monitor (a flat screen tv) on the option to use external monitor, it only now starts thinking the monitor is the flat screen tv and does not recognizes the normal laptop screen. The laptop screen is now "pixeled" and only shows like 2/3 of its total width. I've checked in Control Panel and it has the flat screen registered as the "normal" monitor, but I can not way a find to tell the computer that the monitor is the same as usual and not the flat screen tv.

I had a password on my account and now that the comp it was on is dead I cannot go back and fix that. The 1525 uses SATA and the 8600 had PATA? i think thats right. But the main thing is I am locked out of my old files and not abe to transfer them.

Just purcased Aspire E1-510-2611 - 64 bit, Windows 8.1 - as it was set up in store as display model it appears to be in "Display Mode" - with account already entered, etc. How do I reset to factory defaults so that when I turn it on it is just like turning it on for the first time or is there a better way to get back to the "just out of the box" condition?

I removed the hard disk drive from our old Inspiron 6000, installed it in an enclosure, and hooked it to the new laptop to be able to access the document files. (The hdd from the old computer is a Western Digital 250 GB and was newly installed six months ago).
When I plug in the enclosure, the power light comes on and it shows up on the new laptop as local disk E. When I click on disk E and go to documents, the only documents shown are three that are saved on the new laptop, and none of the hundreds of documents saved on the hdd from the old computer. What I can do?
I'm new to Dell and all of a sudden a great many files have a blue clock face and red exclamation point on top of file thumbnail. What does it mean and how do I remove them. Can I remove them in bulk. I backed up my whole computer yesterday, but the blue clock and exclamation point still remains on many many files and folders.

In the end, he left us with a new hard drive, a directory full of files from some unknown backup program, and the old hard drive - which he unfortunately wiped & reinstalled Windows on. He wasn't too clever. It seems that the backup program he ran left us with a directory full of files which I can't identify. I wasn't actually in the office when the Dell tech was on-site, so I'm left trying to piece this back together for my user.

The XML files are interesting - include.xml is a listing of all the user's files from the disk, and migr.xml contains a description of the old system.
