Apr 27, 2013I bought a Dell Inspiron 1545-8523 for my daughter for christmas. It has been operating fine until last night. I dont have much technical ability at all. I have however run a diagnistic F12 and it has come back with error code 2000-0142. The laptop does actually start up , but is very sluggish.

Dell Inspiron 1525 :: Not Starting Up - Repair Errors
Mar 14, 2013This morning when I started my computer, I got a Windows error message giving me two options: to launch Startup Repair to try to repair any errors or to start up normally. I chose error repair and it says it is repairing disk errors and might take an hour to complete. Â The first time, it said it had fixed errors and I needed to hit "Finish" to restart, which I did, but I ended up with a black screen.
The next time, I chose to start normally, and ended up with a black screen again.
The third time, I did the disk repair again, and go the message that Windows cannot repair my computer automatically, and to hit "finish" to exit and shut down.Â
I''m still ending up with the black screen. I tried some trouble shooting tips posted in others' forums, but none of the following have worked:
-Draining residual battery power
-Running on-board diagnostics (all areas Passed)
-Rebooting in Safe Mode (I ended up with the black screen again)

Mar 31, 2013I have an INSPIRON E1505 with Windows XP. Â The McAfee protection was not working properly, so I contacted customer service. Â They checked my computer and said that I should contact the computer manufacturer because I have errors on CHKDSK. Â I've done some research on this website, but have not been able to find a solution yet. Â
I ran the full Dell PC diagnostics, and everything passed except my battery.
I used this page [URL].... to guide me through chkdsk, running it from "my computer" and choosing "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors." Â Phase 2 appeared to be nearly down when I received the prompt, "Windows was unable to complete the disk check."
I'm not sure if this matters, but the computer was not used for 2 years from 2009-2011, as I was out of the country. Â After I got it running again and ran updates, it seemed to be working just fine until I recently discovered this issue with McAfee.

Feb 10, 2013PXE-E53: No boot filename received.The client received at least one valid DHCP/BOOTP offer, but does not have a boot filename to download. There are several possible causes:
• The 060 DHCP option is not set during installation, on Windows Server 2008 with the DHCP service, is installed locally. To resolve this issue, modify the following PXE configuration option if DHCP service is required to be installed locally: Open the PXE Configuration Utility, select the PXE Server tab, and for DHCP Server discovery select the No DHCP server installed on PXE server (Use DHCP port) option.
• The DHCP Server and the PXE Server were located on the same server, but one of them was moved to a different server. This would result in an incorrect PXE Server configuration. To resolve this issue, reinstall the PXE Server component of the Altiris Deployment Solution.
• The DHCP relay agent, either a Proxy DHCP Server or a switch configured with helper addresses, is not configured correctly. For example, if DHCP and PXE are on separate servers, the DHCP relay agent needs to have both addresses in its configuration. To resolve this issue, correct the DHCP relay agent configuration.
• If the Microsoft DHCP service is installed on the PXE server, but is disabled or unconfigured, Altiris PXE Setup configures PXE to work with the local DHCP service (even if the DHCP service is disabled). This causes the PXE server to not respond to PXE clients that get a DHCP address from DHCP services running elsewhere on the network. To resolve this issue, remove Microsoft DHCP services from the PXE server and reinstall the PXE Server component of the Altiris Deployment Solution.
• A firewall or network security software is enabled in the network environment.

Is there any way I can fix this? the problem is that I can't log on past the codes to download anything so its hard to do it from the laptop.

Feb 7, 2013I recently went to turn on my computer, Dell's Inspiron M5010, today and was surprised to hear it beeping. After I got out from behind cover, i logged onto another computer in the house. Counting 7 short beeps, I have come to learn that there must be an issue with with either the processor or the motherboard. This is the point where I am at currently. I would like to know the next step to take from this point, whether buying a simple new part would do the trick, or if it is time to turn it into a scrap heap and get something new. I suppose there could be some further testing whether it is either the processor or the motherboard with the issue.

Oct 1, 2013I am reporting with the same issue where my motherboard was replaced for 7 beep code and still the issue didn't get resolved. Issue Reoccurred again--again i am getting 7 beep codes. When I checked the motherboard part no and it is the same motherboard which have replaced for this issue. As I informed earlier that the motherboard which was installed for the INSPIRON M5010 have bump cracks around the solder on AMD chip resulting in no post with 7 beep code. The onsite tech replaced the motherboard and it was working fine for 2 weeks and again I am getting the 7 beep code. I am dell customer for past one decade and I owned so many Inspiron and xps laptop but this laptop is giving me trouble. If I get HDD error or any other part failure I would say yes it is due to usage and I would pay for the parts but if I get issue due to manufacture defects than dell should find solution to fix it. How come I am getting same issue even after part replacement within 2 weeks? I would request you to take required action to come out with solution. I am ok with refurbished motherboard but it should not be the same Class or type of part as it is resulting into same 7 beep code. There are 2 types of motherboard in M501R---AMD(tm) RS880M/SB820. And I got my laptop replaced with the same part RS880M which has known issue. My computer <edited for TOU violation>Â . I believe dell should fix this issue for me as it is known issue with these models.

After multiple tries, the operating system on your pc failed to start, so it needs to be repaired Error code: 0xc0000001
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have an installation media (like a disc or USB devices), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
Dell Inspiron N5050 :: Error Code 2000-0142 On Computer?
Apr 13, 2013I have an Inspiron N5050 that is 8 mos old and is rarely used.  When turned on, it shows windows loading files bar, then a start up repair screen but does not go beyond that.  When I exit that screen, it shuts down. I restarted it and ran the F12 diagnostic test and it showed a fail with error code 2000-0142. This should still be under warranty because I bought the computer on 8/4/12.  Is there anything I can do on my side or will this need to be returned to Dell for evaluation?Â

Dell says it will arive on April 6th. Does Dell usually take this long to deliver?
Both have Dual Core Pentiums. Can they be upgraded to Core 2 Duo later? Are the CPU's soldered on the main board?
Ram is limited to four gigabytes, even though the laptop uses a 64-bit CPU. Is this something that might be fixed in a future BIOS upgrade?
Is there any way to upgrade the onboard graphics? I found an ExpressCard chasis that has PCI express slots, but it costs over $700. I could build a PC for less than that. Do I have any other options?

Dec 22, 2008I just looked at the pictures and specs of the new Inspiron 1525 replacement, 1545, and I couldn't believe what I have read. No HDMI port, no firewire port, only 3 USB ports, no modem, no eSATA. Also, it is 15.6" 16:9 screen, which is fine, if they offer higher than 1366x768. It is more like the 13" Inspiron than the old 1525 to me. I think Dell is going to re-align Inspiron as a cheap line like the HP Presario line. Dell Studio will compete with HP Pavilion.

Dell Inspiron 1545 :: Fan Won't Stop
Jan 25, 2015My fan on the inspiron 1545 will not stop running. The laptop is quite hot. The battery from Dell died and replaced with a third party battery and adapter which have not been working well either. Battery will not charge so it is currently attached to power source at all times with the battery in the laptop.
