Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 :: Delay Before Touchpad And Buttons Become Functional Again After Hit A Key
Jan 28, 2015
I have this thing running on Windows 8.1. My problem is, if I hit a key, there's a delay before the touchpad and buttons become functional again. My brother suggested not making the mouse disappear when typing, but that didn't work. Is it possible to change this or is it just how it is?
Ive had the laptop about two weeks and honestly, do not know how this happened, but the keyboard on the laptop stopped working 2 days ago. A USB keyboard does not work either. The on screen keyboard is the only way to use this laptop now. Steps I have taken to resolve the issue that have not worked are
1. unplugging of all peripherals, powered it off, disconnected the power cord and removed the battery and let it sit for a minute, then powered it back up with no peripherals and nothing, no change. 2. system refresh did nothing to bring the keyboard back. 3. uninstalled keyboards in device manager and rebooted to nothing from the keyboard.
It seems odd that the on screen keyboard is the only keyboard option that works, does the onscreen keyboard have an override that prevents any other type of keyboard from working while it is enabled? i get the vibe that the use of the onscreen keyboard is at the root of this issue, and the touchpad mouse has remained functional, its just the keyboard
the left button on the touchpad is playing up. When I click the left button the diagram of the left button on the little Dell Touchpad icon in the system tray lights up as if it's being pressed when it actually isn't. So it basically makes it impossible to use the touchpad because it then acts as if I'm holding down left click so it highlights everything. It's a real pain in the butt! The right clicker works fine.
Physically there isn't anything wrong with the button and it isn't sticking or anything like that. I tried reinstalling the drivers and it was ok for about 10 minutes and then just did the same thing.
My touchpad doesn't work but the buttons are working fine. It also clicks randomly (not with the left or right mouse buttons) so I have to disable it. I have installed the latest version of the Synaptic driver and the problem still persists. I think only the touchpad is having a problem because when I use a wireless mouse, it works fine.
The touchpad on my Inspiron 15z freezes-up a few times a day; the cursor suddenly won't respond and buttons stop working. Restarting the machine usually fixes the problem, until the next time...
I cant get a connection on my laptop. It says that the connection is turned off, but I have no way of turning it back on! I have tried installing the drivers on the Dell website by entering my specific security tag, but they say they aren't compatible. I have even gone as far as to restore it to factory settings and nothing still.
I am using new dell inspiron 15R 5537 with windows 8.1. i having issues continous hangiung and freezing issues even i have reboot my windows but the issue is still remaining. when i checked the task manager the disk memory is 100% while nothing is running other than a sinle folder. I am having a warantey till December...
before i thought that this issue is due to the drivers but I have reboot the window again and run this without drivers but issue does not resolved...
I have this problem of wireless in my 15R 5537. I upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 recently only to know that wireless driver was incompatible. I then visited the Dell support site and downloaded the wireless driver for the model i'm using and the OS installed. But when I tried to install it I got "Activate Bluetooth using wireless switch" error message.
I didn't know what wireless switch was since (fn+f2) was not working either. I came to know that there is wireless option in bios menu from various posts. But there was none in my laptop under "Advance" option in bios menu. I run bios version A08.
I tried to reinstall old windows 8(with a different CD this time) but wireless didn't work in this one either...
My 15R 5537 harddrive is completely broken. I do not have recovery disks - silly me - and the automated recovery wont work because its truly toast. So since the rest of it is fine I have 2 questions:
(1) What replacement hard drive should I purchase - am thinking whatever was in it but not from Dell?
(2) How do I most easily reload everything from Windows 8 etc. up? I understand the Windows license is hardwired onto the Motherboard but how can I take a new blank harddrive and get it back to a vanialla Dell/Windows 8 setup without losing my mind?
I have an Inspiron 15R (5537) that has all the latest drivers with Dell BIOS A01 (Windows 8). I have the options for closing the lid set at "Do Nothing" for both battery and plugged in, however no matter what I try, when the lid is closed I can't get the laptop to wake via USB keyboard or mouse.
Both the keyboard and mouse have the wake option enabled in their hardware settings. I also have wake from USB enabled in the BIOS.
The interesting thing is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can make it wake it from the keyboard or mouse. But with the lid closed, the only way to wake it up is to open the lid and press the power button.
Summary:
Lid Open : CAN wake from USB Keyboard/Mouse.
Lid Closed : Won't wake unless I open lid and press power button.
how to install Dell 1704 or Dell 1705 Wireless driver in my Dell Inspiron 5537. I always get trouble everytime I try to install them.when I install 1705 driver when I install 1704 driver I've tried to turn off and turn on Bluetooth again in PC setting but it doesn't work.
Purchased an upgrade for my Windows license from 8.1 to 8.1 Pro on Sunday in the US (I had done the update to 8.1 from Win 8.0 months ago without issue). Since that time, my Inspiron 15R (5537, Mid 2013, non-touch screen) has stopped charging...although the battery icon says 'plugged in, charging'. I am using the OEM charger and battery initially purchased with the laptop. Currently in Canada (just in case that makes some crazy software difference...plugs/power is the same I think).
I've taken the following steps:
1. I tried battery diagnostics on Dell site. Said the battery is fine. 2. Ran full diagnostics at boot on startup. Those say in Current/High/Low columns:
3. Checked and rechecked physical connections, took battery in/out and used alternate plugs (although usual light ring glowing around plug to computer and icon says charging, took it out and replugged into computer, wall, and at the brick, tried various plugs at the hotel and at the office).
4. From Device Manager, uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
5. From Power Options, selected alternate power plans and changed plan settings/restored default settings for the plan.
6. Went to Dell's drivers & downloads. Downloaded suggested updates to Intel drivers and BIOS. Installed Intel drivers.
7. Because power level was under 10%, couldn't install the BIOS update normally. So I downloaded a program to make a bootable USB drive, made the boot USB, transferred the BIOS update to it, restarted the computer, enabled legacy boot settings to get it to boot to the USB, and flashed the bios out of a DOS prompt with the /forceit command.
8. Since none of this worked, reran diagnostics (same results, slightly different voltage than the earlier office test, and diagnostic showed the drain when I momentarily pulled the AC cable out of the computer).
9. Took battery out entirely and restarted computer. Went back to Device Manager, uninstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and Microsoft AC Adapter, shut down computer, pulled out adapter. Reinstalled battery, replugged AC adapter, restarted computer and both programs reinstalled.
10. Downloaded, installed and ran iOlo system check software and followed recommendations for other fixes although it found no issues with battery.
None of this has worked. I've now got a battery at 4% with the icon still showing 'plugged in, charging'. I don't have an alternate Dell battery and charger to try in the system (hotel doesn't have one, I may try to run to a local electronics store tonight after work to see if I can borrow one). While this could be a hardware issue, with the timing (issue arose after upgrade, no issues previously) and the battery passing its diagnostics I'm guessing software...maybe...
Well, let me explain. When I press the left button, it detects that BOTH buttons are pressed. And when I press the right button, it detects that BOTH buttons are pressed.
I temporarily got around this by going into the Dell touchpad software and setting the "Both Buttons" to "Click.
I've had my Dell Studio 15 (1535) for nearly a year now, problem free. But last night, my touchpad moving extremely choppy,
and my CPU/RAM meters (on Vista) were at nearly 50%, sometimes even spiking higher; I've never seen them that high before.
Here's what was going on when it happened. I was using Facebook Chat, which I don't believe was the problem, but what I believe started it was when i tried to turn up the volume using the touch sensitive media keys at the top, and hit play on iTunes. When i went to turn the volume up,
it froze for about 30 seconds, and then turned the volume all the way up, and now none of my media keys work, my keyboard barely works, and my touchpad/mouse buttons don't work at all!
I got my new 1810T and after opening it up, the first thing I noticed was that the touchpad buttons are not even.
By "even" I mean they're not level with each other. The left button sits a little higher on its right side and the right button sits lower on its left side.
Anyone else experience this? Is this something that has a simple fix like the double-sided tape for the mushy keyboard?
Also, I went into the device manager, opened up the monitor properties and when I choose "Hardware Ids" it shows this:
I currently own a HDX9494nr, and my touchpad and buttons are not working. I don't want to send it back, as this is my main computer, and I depend on it for work and leisure. Any suggestions for me? Maybe something I can fix, instead of shipping it back to HP and having no computer for two weeks? BTW, the cursor moves, but it dosen't respond when i tap it to open links or programs.
I have an HP EliteBook 8570w, which I must say is the most awesome mobile workstation EVER. The touchpad BUTTONS - specifically the ones above the touchpad - how can I disable them? I have large hands and find myself accidentaly hitting the buttons, resulting in losing entire paragraphs of text or launching programs I didn't intend to launch.
I have owned my Dell M1330 notebook PC (specs in signature below) for over 4 years. Several weeks ago, the left and right-click touchpad buttons stopped working. The touchpad itself seems to be operating normally. I surmise I inadvertently deactivated the touchpad. I checked the manual, but it did not reveal how to reactivate (or deactivate) the touchpad buttons. How to reactivate the touchpad buttons, such as using the shortcut keys? I read one post in a PC forum of a similar situation; in that situation, the user's touchpad cable had come loose, but I understand this is a rare occurrence. How to reactivate the touchpad left and right-click buttons.
I have the Dell Studio 1537 and I have two issues :
1. Since I bought the laptop, the media (light) buttons aren't functioning properly. The media player-button isn't working at all, and after I upgraded to Windows 8.1 only the Eject-button does work. Earlier I tried some Registry tweaks, but they did not do the job..
2. The scroll line on the touch pad doesn't work, even when the driver for it is installed properly. How I can bring it to usefulness again?
I tried to clean the underneath of the touchpad mouse buttons of this Dell Vostro 2520 Notebook. since then both the buttons are not working. I am not being able to use the left right buttons and now using an external mouse.
What do I need to replace? How to purchase and from where. dell techincl support phone waiting time is currently 2-3 hours. I just tried.
I want to be able to scroll with my pointing stick using the pointing stick middle button, but no matter what I set it at with the synaptics software it will only perform the action which the touchpad middle button is set at.
Am I missing some check box I need to uncheck, or something else that I am not seeing. I already tried updating the driver and uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and I tried it with the touchpad disabled, but nothing has worked.
I have been using HP Business laptops for a couple of years. In all my laptops after a year or so the rubber buttons wear off/tear. Is it possible to somehow replace the rubber without changing the touchpad.
I bought t420 last month. Yesterday i spilled liquid on the clicks on touchpad. The right button works but it freezes sometimes, left doesn't work at all. Because i am in Europe now,the warnity does not cover. Also the ultranav buttons don't work. With external mouse it works.
I have a inspiron 1710 It has been ok for the most part But the issue that i seem to have and bugs the heck out of me is that when i'm typing and tap the caps lock its like every thing stops and it is a few seconds then the caps lock changes to upper or lower and i have to wait for it to come back on then i can type again But i can not just tap caps and type , BUT if i have a external key board No problem.
I recently bought a Lenovo G505s about a month ago. Everything is fine with it until i downloaded Steam and downloaded some games. 3 of the games i downloaded are shooters and therefore require the left mouse button. But when i click it to shoot, it doesn't respond sometimes and is very laggy. This is not the fault of the game as i tried it in different ones but the problem is still there. i tried to switch round the buttons (so that the right button is to shoot and the left to aim) and it works fine...
If it is needed here are some specs for the pc: AMD A8 6gb ram WIndows 8.1
Also the buttons and trackpad work completely fine with everything else except games including Minecraft. it seems that when i am moving with WASD the button doesn't work but the right click button does.
I'm using a W530 with the following configuration :
Windows 8.1 x64 Synaptics driver 16.2.19.14
My problem is that even though I set the PalmCheck settings to minimum, I have a delay before I can use the left button under the touchpad. The PalmCheck seems to work only on the touchpad functionnalities, not on the buttons below.
How to use those left/right physical buttons below the touchpad while hitting keys on the keyboard ?
I installed the latest dell connnection manager, but the wifi-catcher switch is still not functional. Has dell abandoned this feature or am i missing something?
Due to the problems i reported in june with one of the pre-instaled programs (Skype) causing a BSOD, and the newest drivers for the laptop being very outdated, i have tried a lot of things trying to update my GPU drivers. After the issue was temporarily fixed (neither skype, nor sonix who turned out to have supplied the faulty driver, nor hp have done anything to actually solve it permanently) the system seemed to work normally.
However lately i've been noticing a lot of overheating, and applications running at substandard speeds, so i wanted to check on my gpu. As it turns out the device manager does not see the dedicated ATI Mobility GPU at all, and instead had been using the "powersaving" Intel GPU.
I tried reinstalling the original switchable graphics system from the HP site, because i suspected something might have been disabled there, as CCC was not available any more, but any attempted driver update from the SP53404 package fails to install the drivers for the ATI GPU.
How can i get my GPUs and drivers reset to default conditions?

I cannot get certain types of audio output through either my headphones or my onboard speakers, even though all of my speakers are functioning correctly.
My headphones are connected through a USB device and my speakers are built into the laptop. Things that will play are System Sounds, Audio Configuration Tests, and the occasional youtube video for a reason I cannot identify.
Beyond that, there is no sound output. However, I have confirmed that both my onboard speakers and my headphones are working correctly.
I have performed a reboot, am in the middle of a malware scan, and checked all of my volume controls to make sure nothing has been accidentally muted. I still have yet to try uninstalling the driver and a system restore.
The only thing that changed on my PC before the problem occurred was connecting it to a TV via HDMI cable. In that instance, all audio was correctly rerouted to the TV speakers.
I've been in search of several of the gray rubber buttons that goes around the screen on the 600m, just need the round half circle ones and can't seem to find them anywhere
