I recently got an XPS 1640 as a replacement for my M1530 and in the order details, it says the processor is a P9600 but when i run a dxdiag on my laptop,
it says my processor is a T9600. Are they the same thing?
Im buying a E6500, but im not quite sure on whether to get the P9600 or T9550 proc... Aside from the 25W TDP of P9600, are there any other differences between the two? Any recommendations?
I'll be installing Vista 64bit and will be using this laptop for dev and testing purposes, I'll have multiple VMs running on Virtual Server so Intel VT is a must have. Also, I live in the tropics so heat will definitely be a factor when Im working out of the office.
Last week, the M4400 had the P9600 processor (I saved an equote). This week it has been pulled, any idea when it'll be back ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Studio 16 xps with Intel Core2duo T9600 and that half multiplier 10.5x is killing me. I have searched all day trying to find some solution, but all i found is maybe i have to use CPUgenie instead of RMclock. I have tried RMclock but it gives me just 10x and i want to find some way to set it to 10.5x. Maybe someone who has T9600 cpu can share some methods? How they have undervolted T9600?
i have successfully undervolted other laptop with T2390 cpu and it helped me a lot, it dropped from 70c to 58c and i like it, now i just need to do this to my T9600
At the beginning, I love the Silent Mode since it's making the Z fan to turn off more often and therefore offering me a really peaceful silent environment.
However, when I tried to open program or decode datas, the CPU would only go as high as 2.1Ghz.
I would have to switched the Termal Control back to Balanced Mode to get the maximum speed of 2.66Ghz back
Just wondering, I want to upgrade my processor. If not whats the fastest proccessor I can upgrade to?
View 10 Replies View RelatedAfter a bit of head scratching and testing I have finally got my T9600 to behave.
A few comments on the system, the cooling is pretty well done and fairly easy to work with (once you have figured out how to get the fan in and out easily, this is done by tilting it up and pushing forward then down to get it in).
The heatsink managed to get a fair bit of pressure down on the CPU which is a nice change.
You MUST use a quality thermal compound (Arctic silver MX-2 worked for me in the end) using a THIN layer (since you get good pressure).
Undervolting it slightly also for good measure (down to 1.088v in my case) helps keep it cool.
Right around black friday I ordered a Dell studio with the following specs listed below. It was $1778 with $649 off making an OTD price of $1212 shipped.
I see the I7 is out & I dont believe that was an option for the laptop either. There was also the 20% bing cashback deal which removes another 220 from the price (I dont quite get the math myself but hey).
I am looking at a Studio I7 with the same price but a 3rd year warranty vs my 2nd .....

I just got my new laptop and the invoice says that it's a T7600. When I look into the system properties it show a 2.33 Ghz T7600.
But when I go into my BIOS, it has an adjustment to overclock my processor. I overclocked it to 2.83 Ghz and according to my I8KFangui and my system properties it is showing it running @ 2.83 Ghz.
So does this mean that I actually have the T7600G, or does it mean that I have the T7600 an I am going to screw it up by overclocking it!

Comparing the config of Corei5 vs the Corei7 i noticed a slight difference in the displays.
Corei5:

the 8X slot load super Multi (DL DVD+/-R Drive + RAM Support) and
the CD/DVD writer (DVD+/-RW) + Roxio Creator 10
what is the difference between the two? I was able to select the default which was the 8x slot load super multi. I want to both read AND write CD AND DVD and is it also possible to re-write to a DVD RW with the default 8x slot load super multi drive?
I just got confused with the +/-RW, when you mouse-over the 8x slot load super multi it says that it is a DVD +/-RW but in the tick-box selection it is only DVD+/-R

My hinges were loose, instead of replacing just the hinges dell dispatch had replaced the whole screen. My question is can you tell a difference between CCFL and LED. My specs is LED I just want to make sure the technician, replace with the right screen. Is LED thinner than CCFL if so what is the technical spec of thickness between the two. Is there a way to check if you have a 1.3 or 2.0 webcam.

I have yet to notice any difference in terms of access times and system performance.
Transfer times with my external HDD have decreased but apart from that, it all feels the same.
Maybe I expected too much but I'm kind of disappointed. Is it just me or has anyone else experienced the same
All I can tell from the product listings on the Dell website is the 6500 is available in Blue and Red optionally. Are there any hardware differences? The screen options seem different too, but I can't tell anything else.
