Dell :: Difference 1066 Vs 1333
May 3, 2010Will I really see a difference with 1066 and 1333?
Dell replaced my 4GB of 1333 with 8GB of 1066 and I am getting tired of going back and forth and them not getting their ish together.
Will I really see a difference with 1066 and 1333?
Dell replaced my 4GB of 1333 with 8GB of 1066 and I am getting tired of going back and forth and them not getting their ish together.
Just got my 1647 set up (replacement for my 1640) and got sent an additional 4gb dimm and popped it in for a total of 8 gigs.
CPU-Z shows 8 gigs, everything works fine..The Memory tab is blank so it doesn't show what its actually running at or its timings or dual channel mode or not...Which caused me to think it wasn't running in dual channel mode..So I got everest ultimate edition and it indeed showed it was working in dual channel so I was happy..But then I noticed it reported the memory was running at 100mhz and in ddr3 terms that effectively is 800mhz...The ram should be running at a base clock of 133mhz or 1066mhz effectively. All the tabs report it as being rated at 1066 and all that registers fine..Its just the "actual clock" reports it at 100mhz instead of 133..
I thought back to the 4gb dimm I recieved..It was refurbished which made me think it was the culprit..So I did some tests. I tested each dimm individually and each time (alone and together) everest reported 100mhz (800mhz)..
So is everest to be trusted? Are both my dimms bad? Whats causing my dimms to run at 800mhz instead of 1066? There is nothing in bios to tweak so how can I change this? And let me repeat, both dimms, when installed BY THEMSELVES (so 4gb total) still report 100mhz...so it cant be the refurb dimm...
What gives?
My window index score on memory is 6.8..which is about what it was on my last machine which used the same speed ram..
Could everest be wrong?
I've got an E6400 that got crushed and an almost unused D830. I want to cannibalize the E6400 and install it in 1.8 MHz 512 MB D830. I've zeroed the SSD, checked the processor and RAM and was wondering if it is possible to use a 1066 MHz FSB processor in an 800 FSB system,if it would recognize the 800 MHz memory and if there is a BIOS modification to allow the SSD to work to it's potential?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter reading the m6500 discussion thread it sounds like the consensus is that 1600 mhz memory makes no performance difference. But then a lot of folks seem to have configured their machines with 1600 memory and the below review suggests that the memory will help.
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/842/1/
So to have this fully hashed out, I think we need to answer the below questions:
1) If you order the extreme processor does the BIOS recognize the 1600 mhz memory?
2) Even if it does recognize it does it make a difference?
3) Why did people with the extreme processor order the 1600 mhz memory?
4) Can we fill in the WEI scores for memory using 4 and 8 GB of both 1333 and 1600 memory with the extreme processor?
What are the specifications of the DDR3 memory in HP dv6t? Website doesnt mention the details.
- Is it 1066 MHz or 1333 MHz?
- Is it dual channel?
I'm having trouble figuring out why on my T520, after upgrading from 8GB/1333Mhz to 16GB/1600Mhz Crucial RAM, Speccy/CPU-Z still says they're running at around ~660Mhz x 2 = ~1330?
Â
My specs are as follows:
Â
For my T520 (4239-CTO) I have...
Â
Processor: Intel Core i7-2860QM 2.5Ghz
RAM: Crucial 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR3-1600
GPU: Intel HD 3000 / NVIDIA QUADRO NVS 4200M
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 (w/latest updates)
Â
After Googling for a while and from looking around here I've read nothing that says I shouldn't be able to run at 1600Mhz especially considering my processor supports that speed officially. Another post on this topic (not for the T520 specifically) mentioned that i7's contain the memory controller within itself. So... am I being thwarted by software settings in the BIOS or within my operating system?

They have the same specs, but the N0074509 is €100,00 cheaper. Please can anyone explain this to me?
I recently got an XPS 1640 as a replacement for my M1530 and in the order details, it says the processor is a P9600 but when i run a dxdiag on my laptop,
it says my processor is a T9600. Are they the same thing?
I just got my new laptop and the invoice says that it's a T7600. When I look into the system properties it show a 2.33 Ghz T7600.
But when I go into my BIOS, it has an adjustment to overclock my processor. I overclocked it to 2.83 Ghz and according to my I8KFangui and my system properties it is showing it running @ 2.83 Ghz.
So does this mean that I actually have the T7600G, or does it mean that I have the T7600 an I am going to screw it up by overclocking it!
I see there are options for Wireless Card choice, like Dell Wireless™ 1510 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card, Intel® WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card, Intel® WiFi Link 5300 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card. So what's the main difference?

the 8X slot load super Multi (DL DVD+/-R Drive + RAM Support) and
the CD/DVD writer (DVD+/-RW) + Roxio Creator 10
what is the difference between the two? I was able to select the default which was the 8x slot load super multi. I want to both read AND write CD AND DVD and is it also possible to re-write to a DVD RW with the default 8x slot load super multi drive?
I just got confused with the +/-RW, when you mouse-over the 8x slot load super multi it says that it is a DVD +/-RW but in the tick-box selection it is only DVD+/-R
I browsed through both dell.com and dell small business and I was wondering what was the difference? Am I not allowed to order from dell small business if I'm not a business? Also which ones tend to have better deals if their inventory is same/similar?

All I can tell from the product listings on the Dell website is the 6500 is available in Blue and Red optionally. Are there any hardware differences? The screen options seem different too, but I can't tell anything else.
