I have an E5500 I purchsed from my cousin who has no clue what he did with any of his documentation.
After contacting Dell and finding there are NO serrvice tags on my laptop and their auto system cant find it but they can find my windows key as valid.
I want to wipe it install Windows 7, where can i get the correct drivers? i have been to dell support but it
The HDD LED is constantly blinking with one second frequency. I'm using WIN XP, this blinking can not be seen in BIOS, but I can see it with a Live XP, and it's also blinking when XP install starts, but there are not any processes.
Because of the mentioned reasons, this could not be because of indexing, or pagefile (additionally I have tried to turn them off, and blinking remained)..
I've reported this issue to Dell, and the HDD was replaced, but I still can experience the blinking., if you have experienced an issu like this.
All I can tell from the product listings on the Dell website is the 6500 is available in Blue and Red optionally. Are there any hardware differences? The screen options seem different too, but I can't tell anything else.
I have a Dell Lat E 5500 - It has been running great for 3 years. Suddenly it says the adapter cord is plugged in, but it is not charging. I have tested this with 2 diferent batteries I got and get the same thing. It just is out of the blue
I also get a warning when I boot up about not being able to recognize the AC Adapter. Not sure what is causing this. Really frustrating.
I was asked to take a look at an E5500. This is what I found:
a) a screen that could only be seen with the correct reflected light; and b) outboard screen working perfectly.
This is what I did:
a) tried a known replacement inverter board and this didn't solve the problem; b) tried a known working LCD screen and this didn't work; c) checked the video cable and it looks fine; and d) since there's no screen switch that might be stuck and I'm assuming that all functions are software controlled.
I did a clean install of xp pro. Still no good. I looked for a SMD e.g. a fuse and found none.
When I boot my laptop the screen stays blank. You here the start up but screen still black as if not started. The blue symbol on F4 key lights up a 9 in a lock!! How I can get the screen to work?
I'm worrying because of the following issue on my new E5500:
The HDD LED is constantly blinking with one second frequency. I'm using WIN XP, this blinking can not be seen in BIOS, but I can see it with a Live XP, and it's also blinking when XP install starts,
but there are not any processes.Because of the mentioned reasons, this could not be because of indexing, or pagefile (additionally I have tried to turn them off, and blinking remained)

For some reason I can't search or I would have done that first so I apologize if this has been beaten to death. I placed an order for a Latitude E5500 with 4G of memory and the 2.4g processor.
One question that I asked of the online chat people was if it would support a dual monitor set up with the onboard gpu (I didn't have an option for an upgrade on the 5500).
The first guy said no, my salesperson on the phone said yes, absolutely although unless I buy a dock one of the monitors would have to be my laptop lcd, and just to break the tie I asked another online sales person and he said absolutely not!
I've been using Dell Inspiron for more than 3 years. It had a nice touchpad driver with which i could assign shortcuts to all the four corners of touchpad (e.g., Maximizing a window, minimizing, closing, and running a special application etc.). Now i m used to those shortcuts but they are not available in the new drivers of Dell Latitude D830, that i recently got. Can anybody point to the D830 touchpad driver having this facility or any free third party utility for that?
Dell D610, reinstalled Windows XP. Downloaded NSS from Utilities disk and the rest of the drivers from USB drive saved before re-install (C:Dell/Drivers)
The drivers are not being recognized by the computer after several restarts. Thsi my first reformatting of Disk. I would like determining what is causing the problem.
I have a latitude 3540 . Recently I installed windows 8.1 64 bit on it. All the drivers works except the WiFi. When I am trying to install it its showing a message "The installer cannot run on this platform. Pls select the package for your operating system". I tried both older newer versions of the driver package downloaded from dell website.
They are mostly identical, but with two exceptions.
1. One has a but faster processor than the other. 2. One used shared memory for the video (Intel Driver) and the other has an nVidia Quadro video card with respective driver.
I would like to be able to swap the hard disks between the two computer.
My question is, can I install both sets of drivers and assume the respective computer will know what to do?
Recently began recollecting drivers needed for Latitude E6410 Win 7 32 bit fresh build, and found some descrepancies. 1 "How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order" (Dated 8-14-2006) on the Latitude E6410 driver page states that for number 8 the Dell ControlPoint software Says it is located in "Applications" when itis in fact under Dell Control Point. It Suggests installing the following:
-Control Point System Manger -Control Point Security Manager -Control Point Connection Manager
But in fact the only 2 available are Control Point System Manager and Control Vault (A little confusing). Also, under System Utilities is the PDF E-Family How-To Reimage Guide Which is marked urgent and I use for recreating images. It states that the Driver that has to be installed (Prerequisite to other DCP ) is Dell Control Point Security Driver Pack. Which is no where to be found. I heard toady from "Ronnie" at Dell Tech services via phone that I should use Dell Data Protection (Instead of Dell Control Point) but can find nothing on the correct order or how and when to install it.
Is there anyway to get an updated Latitude E6410 Win 7 32bit Correct order (And which ones) Driver install list?
I reimaged my client's laptop and I am trying to download the drivers for the Universal Serial Bus Controller. I went on the dell website and tried downloading it but it still shows up as missing.
Operating system: Windows 7 x64
I was also wondering if dell has put the correct drivers up for the operating system. I select Windows 7 x64 drivers on the webpage. When I try to install them, it gives me a "invaild operating system" error.
Cannot get online. I went into the device manager and found thefollowing:

I cannot connect to the internet to download these driversdirectly to her laptop. Can I download them to a usb from mine and transferthem? I've looked everywhere for these drivers but can't seem to navigate theDell Drivers page to find them.
I have a Latitude E6410. Hard Drive crashed. Bought a new HD, installed and installed Windows 7 Home Premium. Got no wireless. Looking at Device Function I see no driver for:
I have an XPS 17 L702X. I just did a re-install of windows 7 on my wife's laptop. How do I use the drivers and utilities disc to get the drivers for the hardware on this computer? I can't get online on it. I do have the discs.
The price of 2nd user Latitude D630's seems to be holding up quite well in the UK. Does this indicate that it is still a popular machine and favoured over the E6400?
I briefly checked out an E6400 the other day and for a choice between machines of approximately similar spec I would opt for the D630 rather than the newer E6400.
I would be interested in opinions from users who have experience with both models.
We are looking at getting some Latitude E4310 systems. Since fast boot up to access the web is important, we see that the Latitude On FLASH option is required.
The downside is that Dell will not install this along with the WiMax card option. They have a combo WiFi and WiMax card, but it can not be installed with the FLASH option.
They also list Latitude On ECM as an option instead of On FLASH. The ECM runs $149 more. With ECM, the system can then have the WiMax card which would be nice.
The people at Dell have not been able to provide a good explanation on what the ECM option does. There is a write up on the FLASH option, but not a good one on ECM. Does anyone know what the ECM does differently than the FLASH?
Key points of the FLASH option are (we need these functions): Boot Fast, 8-10 seconds Wi-Fi and LAN 10/100/1000 Web access via browser Firefox Browser Supports Java and Adobe Flash Read Microsoft Office Edit Microsoft Office 2000
Which do you reckon i ought to go for between the two?
The laptop will be used primarily between home and university, so will be taken between the two places in my shoulder messenger bag, so will probably take a few bumps
Does anyone know if Dell modifies the video card drivers that they post on the driver download website specifically for their machines?
Or do they just download the latest drivers from the Nvidia webiste test on a particular machine for a little while and either pass or fail the driver for official use?
I own a Dell 7520 and it has four 3.0 usb ports. However, I have discovered that one program I use does not support Intel 3.0 USB ports only USB 2.0 ports. So the only port that program will use is the Realtek USB card reader on the 7520 because that is a native 2.0 port.
According to a poster Innogen on the Intel support forum "The BIOS in my Dell Inspiron 7520 allows me to disable it so that the USB 3.0 ports revert to USB 2.0 functionality." but I can't find any such functionality in my BIOS (using version A06).

I tried uninstalling the Intel USB 3.0 drivers in WIn 7 Ultimate hoping that when I rebooted it would install USB 2.0 drivers but it simply reinstalled the USB 3.0 drivers.
I would really like to get this program working on my computer and while I am not happy about losing USB 3.0 functionality I can live with it until the vendor gets its act together and starts to support Intel USB 3.0.
