I'm on BIOS vA0 and could not find in USB SETUP OPTION to enable charging feature while laptop power in OFF position. Should I upgrade the BIOS version or there will not be such feature in latitute E6220?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell E6220 laptop with BT and have difficulty pairing with my Bluetooth headset. I was able to pair the Dell E6220 with my BT mouse (Microsoft 5000 Cordless Mouse), but I cannot pair either my LG Tone Wireless Bluetooth Stereo or the Platonic BT Headset.
The devices are in paring mode, and I go under Add Bluetooth device but the Dell never sees it. I also tried with my iPhone but the Dell cannot find it. It is odd because my BT mouse is working just fine.
Is there a known problem with BT headsets and the laptop? Are there maybe some drivers that need to be installed?
I have the charger from here brought as a replacement for the original one, but when I plug it - the laptop works, but the battery it's not charging. The battery is 6-7 months old, was pretty good - lasts for more than an hour and a half, but it's not charging now.I have tried to enter the bios and stay there for about 2 hours but the battery does not charge..Or the charger it's not the good one?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron 15R SE which I purchased from Dell Canada in February 2013 recently acted up on me. It was just like any other day, I run the laptop battery down, then plug in the power adapter when its low.
This time however, the laptop just suddenly shutdown (not through Windows, like just up and died). I tried to power it up again and each time, barely 30 seconds after it powers up, it just up and dies.
I had to do work on it so I thought I let it sit for awhile to charge the battery, thinking that I can run it on battery at least. But alas I left it there for even a whole night and the battery did not even charge a drop.
I then tried removing the battery and only running on power adapter only but it won't even start. I have also tried another power adapter but the same issue persists so I can safely rule out the power adapter.
The power port doesn't look damaged either seeing as I have always loyally bought Dell throughout the years, and I really need to get work done (it is my primary computer).

Reason: There is a perpetual bluetooth mouse appearing in the device manager.
I actually have 3 mouse devices listed: Touchpad, HID-Compliant (bluetooth), and HID-Compliant (Wifi). Numbers 1 and 3 are correct. Number 2 is not really there,
When I pull the WiFi dongle, the #3 mouse correctly goes away, leaving me with two.
Clearly, the touchpad is detecting a "HID-Compliant" mouse "on bluetooth". BUT THERE IS NO MOUSE PAIRED. I tried to uninstall the bluetooth software from Add/Remove (or whatever Win7 calls it this year), but the device is still there. So I did an "uninstall" of the device in the device manager, and it comes back. (yes rebooting between all attempts)
So, something, somewhere, is claiming to be a mouse on the bluetooth stack. How do I make it go away, since it's not really there? Because it is causing the touchpad software to disable, thinking there is another device.
Additionally, when I forgot my mouse, I tried to activate the touchpad... Do you realize that it is completely *impossible* to manipulate the user interface to the Tochpad applet in the control panel without a mouse in the first place??? You cannot make the "save" button activate. This is the ultimate in poor usage design.
Going to install a SSD to my HP Pavilion Dv6-2119tx (WF606PA) I had a quick look in the bios but no option to turn on AHCI as going to reinstall Windows 7 as not sure if my laptop can handle Windows 8.

View -1 Replies View RelatedHow to disable auto brightness feature on my laptop. It's dell xps 15 with 1080p display. It happens on battery only, on every power plan. I don't mean the display dimming after a certain time, but it just goes from bright to dark. The darker the image, the darker the screen dimms and vice versa. I had another problem which was the colors going crazy when the screen went back on after unplugging charger or waking it on battery (it all went down to what was like 256 color range).
This problem was resolved after unchecking "Intel Display Power Saving Technology" in Dell Quick Set. Yet I can't get rid of the auto screen dimming which is extremely annoying. Has the laptop got an ambient light sensor or something?
I all seems like there's an ambient light sensor which is trigggered by the brightness of the screen itself and it shouldn't work like that.
Just purchased. During setup, notices battery icon shows connected, but battery not charging. I have pulled battery in and out several times, cleaned terminals, still no luck.

I am using a Dell Latitude E6420 laptop that has an external VGA connection as well as an HDMI connection. I can currently use the laptop LCD screen as one display and an external monitor (either VGA or DVI) as the second, or I can use both external (VGA and DVI) as my extended output. But I am unable to get it to work with all three. Is this a hardward limitation? or Setup limitation? Do I need third party software to accomplish that?

I purchased a Latitude D505 from a police auction and the BIOS setup is locked by password. It will not allow me change setups, such as system time.
Under system security it shows Primary Password unabled, Admin Password Enabled, Configure Setup Disabled and Configure Password enabled.
I need to clear these in order to setup new HDD and operating system.

I was given a nice E6510 that doesn't boot. I've taken it apart and tested the memory, all the connections, reseated the processor (yes I used arctic silver) and it never gets past the 'one time boot menu', the diagnostic boot freezes but I CAN get to the very complex BIOS version A16.
So, I bought a new MOBO thinking that would solve the boot issue but it hasn't-it's doing exactly the same thing. may indicate the problem-Dell calls this an "OPTION ROM", may be 'unseated' or the system board is bad.
What is "Option ROM" and how can it be reseated? Are there any other things I can do in BIOS to change this? I also replaced the SATA CDROM and the hard drive, and I know the USB port works okay but nothing will boot from them.
Weird issue... I cannot enable wireless.
The driver is current
The switch on the side is on.
In device manager all looks fine.
When I try and enable it ... it says enabling but never get enabled.
Tried dleting the driver completely and loding the current... no joy.
I've enrolled my fingerprints via the Windows 8.1 PC user settings app.
When I logon to my PC it provides the usual password box to type my password, but if I swipe the fingerprint reader nothing happens. I've registered four fingers, none of them work.
Are there some other settings I need to change to enable use of the fingerprint reader?
I see the biometric device in device manager, and registering fingerprints is no problem, it's just during logon that it's not working.
I’m testing some E4200s (with SED SSDs and regular SSDs) and have run into a possible bug with the HDD password “bypass” option in the BIOS. The “bypass” option in BIOS allows you to specify if the HDD password needs to be entered during warm boots (restarts), standby, etc. I’ve set it to “disable”, which means that the HDD password must always be entered (even for restarts). However, the E4200 does *not* prompt for the HDD password during warm boots (restarts). It correctly prompts for the HDD password during cold boots and standby/hibernate only. I’ve tried upgrading the BIOS to the latest version (A13 to A20), but that didn’t work.
At this point I think it's a bug in the BIOS. I've tried this with different e4200 laptops and different drives (regular SSDs, and self-encrypting SSDs).

It seems to happen when I plug it in after closing it (i.e. when it already is in stand by).
The battery LED on the front cover does not light up and it will only start charging when it is woken up.
If it is already charging when I put it in stand by, it gets charged properly.
This used to happen under the A12 bios and continues to do so under A14.
I have two batteries for my laptop they no longer charge in the laptop. I have it plugged into the AC Adapter, but the battery charge light no longer comes on. The batteries both work, but they are both nearly discharged.why the charging is not happening?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Lat E 5500 - It has been running great for 3 years. Suddenly it says the adapter cord is plugged in, but it is not charging. I have tested this with 2 diferent batteries I got and get the same thing. It just is out of the blue
I also get a warning when I boot up about not being able to recognize the AC Adapter. Not sure what is causing this. Really frustrating.
When I unplug the charger, the laptop returns to normal speed. Does anyone know the reason why this is occurring and if it can be fixed?
Also, I don't think the laptop is actually charging
In the task manager I see the CPU usage at around 20% when its not plugged in, and the moment I plug it in, it goes to 100%, then I unplug it and it instantly goes back to 20%.
I recently came to the same fate, Recently had my battery replaced by Dell which was wonderful n the mess up part is that I cannot get it charged on my Latitude E6420.
My flashing problem started when I had a power failure in my area while i had my note book on charge. I cant do anything without having to keep my notebook on charge. i doesnt start up without it being plugged in now n it doesnt even charge my new replacement battery.
If I leave the power connected to the laptop while its in sleep mode - after a couple of hours, the fan turns on and goes into high speed and the unit will not come out of sleep mode.
