Dell Inspiron 3520 :: Desktop Charging Mode Is Disabled - How To Enable
Mar 4, 2013
This is regarding my Dell inspiron 3520 . core i3 + 4gb ram with windows 7 home basic 64 bit . I noticed the feature Called "DESKTOP charging mode" under extended battery life options. unfortunately i am unable to select the desktop charging mode. It seems disabled. i have enabled Extended battery life and it is working well. I am getting more than 4 hrs battery backup also. i would like to enable desktop charging mode.
I have an Inspiron Windows-8 (pro) laptop, that I purchased on 3/23/13. One strange issue I've noticed, is when I'm in a Windows-8 app (i.e. Mail), I'll start to move the cursor (via the touch-pad) to perform an action (like delete), and then all of a sudden, I'm "switched" into Desktop mode. Sometimes the OS flips back and forth between the app and whatever I was on previously (usually the Desktop). Is this a
1) keyboard issue, 2) a touch-pad issue, 3) a Dell issue (defect, or driver issue), or 4) a Windows-8 issue, or 5) something I'm not aware of?
It doesn't happen all the time, but is frustrating when it does. I usually have to close the app, go back to the Windows "metro" screen, and re-launch the app.
I recently purchased dell 15R 5520 inspiron. After 4 months of usage suddenly few days back the system showed popup message that the battery charging is disabled . So I had contacted the customer service centre and after one hour they concluded that battery be replaced. They sent a new battery for replacement but replacing with new battery showed me the same message of battery charging disabled.
I was trying to connect my laptop to my HD TV so I made the HMDI my default playback but I disabled the internal speakers and now I can't figure out how to get them back on. The sound plays through my tv but when I unplug the HDMI cord the speakers don't play. Im using an HP Pavillion dv7 -3065dx model.
I just got my xps 13 on march 9, 2013. Today I received a battery warning.Frequently connecting and disconnecting your computer to a power source without allowing it to fully discharge may reduce the longevity of your batter. Dell's Longevity mode will protect your battery by moderating the extent to which your battery will charge protecting your battery from frequent charge and discharge states.
I enabled the Longevity Mode as well as the desktop mode. Is there any conflict with either. Should I ever click the option "Charge battery to 100% one time" under the Longevity Mode Tab.These options are new to me, and I would like to take the best care to keep my battery long lasting.I also have Dell Intelligent Display in Battery Mode and Dell Extended Battery Life enabled under the Battery Status Tab
The laptop is a HP EliteBook 8440p running Windows 7 Professional Win7Pro.
The HP Wireless Assistant has the following message: Wireless LAN Adapter: This device is disabled in the device manager and cannot be enabled from Wirelss Assistant. It can still be turned off.
I have checked the device manager do not see where to turn it on.
There is a blue light on the above the keyboard and on the front side of the laptop. It's turned on in the bios. I've tried to resintall the driver.
The wireless device model # installed is: intel model: 622anhmw sps: +572509-001 OB
How to proceed? I hope to avoid a complete resinstall.
Every time I start up my computer I get the error message "battery charging disabled. Please shut down and wait for system to cool." Or something along those lines with options to press F1 and continue rebooting and F2 to go another menu. I can press F1 and my computer will reboot but the battery light is constantly flashing orange and I have to be plugged into my charger. I've tried looking at the battery meter and running a diagnostic test on my battery and they came out fine but something is up with my battery.
I bought a used Dell XPS 15z. The battery was bad. I bought a new one and changed it. Now, the computer tells me the battery is working perfectly, but it wont charge. I don't know what to do. I enabled and disable smart charging. The charger works fine. The computer works fine. I just dont understand why the battery wont charge. I am guessing its a setting I cant find.
I clicked on some smart charging options to extend battery life, and since then my battery isn't charging anymore. i can't find any options in dell battery meter to enable charging...
I bought a Vostro 3750 last year for my wife and it didn't get used except twice. I never paid much attention to it until I turned it on this morning. I noticed the battery light blinks one white and 4 red signifying it was not charging. How do I enable battery charging on this model? I checked the documentation and did not see anything there. I guessing its the FN + one other key?
Running in extended desktop mode with my external monitor as the primary, the touch works as input on the laptop but the pen does not. When I put the pen to the screen of the tablet the pen icon appears on the external monitor screen only. I have gone to the Tablet PC Settings Setup to set up the pen (and hit "Enter" to change the screen for the input) but touching the pen to the Lenovo screen does nothing to set this option.
I feel if the touch screen will work in extended desktop mode, then the pen should and that I'm just missing something.I'm upgrading from the X60 and the workaround that I used for that tablet was to have two presets - one for extended desktop for the external monitor for everyday use and one for the laptop screen only for when I needed to use the tablet function while docked. That was a good workaround (although I would see the BSoD on a fairly regular basis) but I was hoping for more with the X220.
Specs:
Lenovo X220 Windows 7 Professional HPL2045W External Monitor Extended desktop
Year old i7 Envy Dv7-7398ca notebook with Samsung 840 Pro x 256 SSD. Windows 8.1. I updated to the SSD soon after I purchsed the notebook.
No issues except the Samsung Magician SSD software keeps flagging me that AHCI mode is disabled and needs to be enabled and I do not see it in BIOS. Nor do I see anything that relates to it in Device manager like IDE or whatever.
It appears the SSD is not optimizing itself based on the fact it thinks AHCI is disabled.
I want to enable my RAM in dual channel mode... what is the process to do this? i have already checked in CPU-Z that it is currently in single channel mode.
I recently acquire a VGN-SZ491N from ebay and since I don't really like Vista, so I wipe out the hard drive and install Windows 7 Ultimate from scratch. I followed the following steps and everything works fine except for the video card portion.
A. Install Windows 7 B. Install missing / unknown drivers C. Reboot and install the utilities, in the following order:
1. Sony Utils DLL 2. Sony Shared Library 3. VAIO Event Service 4. Setting Utility Series
After Step C, I reboot my laptop and then able to install Nvidia driver and upgrade the video card from generic one to Nvidia at Speed mode.
But when I manually switch from speed to stigma, nothing happen, so I would like to know what should I do to enable the Intel video card portion and make it work in Windows 7.
I'm on BIOS vA0 and could not find in USB SETUP OPTION to enable charging feature while laptop power in OFF position. Should I upgrade the BIOS version or there will not be such feature in latitute E6220?
If I leave the power connected to the laptop while its in sleep mode - after a couple of hours, the fan turns on and goes into high speed and the unit will not come out of sleep mode.
I have a new Flex 14. When I turn it on, I frequently get the following message "The battery is charged to a high capacity. Staying above 70% of capacity for a long period of time is adverse to the battery health. Enable 'Conservation Mode' in Settings." I can not find "Conservation Mode" in "Settings." ?
I have an older Inspiron 6400 (looks like the 1505) that isn't charging the battery. The bios indicates that the battery is charging, and that it is performing normally. There isn't a red flashing battery indicator, but when the laptop is powered on there isn't any "green light" indication of the battery, either. The AC adapter performs normally ( Charger is a PA10 (90watt) and it works fine on my D800, and charges that battery normally).
What I don't understand is why the BIOS indicates the battery is charging and that the battery is performing normally. However, when I have the system up and running there isn't a green battery indicator light on the button strip. Let me clarify that statement. During the initial boot phase of start-up there is the green indicator light on the button strip, but as the OS finishes loading this light goes out and the battery doesn't charge.
Could this be caused by a faulty Bios update, or is it something with the battery charging circuit of the motherboard? The laptop operates normally when using the AC adapter, just no indication of the battery charging when the OS is fully loaded. OS is Windows XP Pro (SP3).
I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.
I have a Inspiron 14R for about a year and half now. This computer has done this since day one for some reason:
When I put the 14R in SLEEP mode, the computer remains in sleep mode for about 2-3 hours, then the computer shuts itself off, or goes into hibernation mode on it's own. The computer has Windows 7 Premiuim.
I have the power saving modes all set too SLEEP, and none in hibernation in any of the selections. I cannot for the life of me why this computer does this. I have a Lenovo I bought about a year later using Windows 7 Premium with all the same settings in the POWER section, and while in sleep mode, it STAYS in SLEEP mode, no matter the length of time in that mode. Any setting I need to turn off, and where to find it?
I bought a new Dell Inspiron 3520 in November 2012 with Windows 8. Since then, I have been trying to use the CD/DVD player but unable to do so. When I insert a disc in the drive, nothing happens. Whether it is music CD or data CD, nothing happens. Am I supposed to do anything different?
I have just encountered a problem with my Inspiron 7520 laptop. The laptop is plugged in and notes 'charging'. Problem is that it is not charging and battery has been at 0% for a week now.
Battery meter notes the battery is charging and that the battery is working normally. I have run the 'My Dell' systems test and it failed on the battery with error code WBT02-GX1...
I have installed a new HDD in my laptop but when I try to boot from the system disk to load the O/S I get the following message "Internal HDD not found". The BIOS sees the HDD but the laptop doesn't.
recently i purchased one dell inspiron 3520 laptop, but some of my software is not compatible with windows 8 operation system. where i can get the drivers for windows xp sp3 and i want to have dual operating system on laptop windows 8 with windows xp sp3.
I've already given hdd serial num service tag express service tag and white sticker serial under battery for motherboard.
I can't do anything why should i have to go buy a new harddrive and reinstall windows to use my laptop that's under warranty
I have 4 numbers now for dell
18004563355 and 3 others
I first called about a bios password that was given but after it was erased the bios that is now i am being presented with a hdd lock 3 times and it shuts off no error code this is not a 595b legacy system i am familiar with dell but this is more work then requesting a carrier subsidy unlock.
My Dell Inspiron 3520 screen goes grey with horizontal lines during use. It reminds me of an old TV except the lines do not scroll. It started after I upgraded from 8 to 8.1.
