I was trying to connect my laptop to my HD TV so I made the HMDI my default playback but I disabled the internal speakers and now I can't figure out how to get them back on. The sound plays through my tv but when I unplug the HDMI cord the speakers don't play. Im using an HP Pavillion dv7 -3065dx model.
View 5 RepliesI have a DV6-265us laptop running MS Vista SP2. Recently, my internal Altec Lansing speakers stopped working. First it was the left speaker, then both. I thought for sure the speakers just died, so I ordered a replacement on EBay and just got and replaced it yesterday. BUT, I still don't have any sound. I can plug in external speakers into the speaker port and they work fine.
Now here is the strange thing. The speaker icon on the status bar is working exactly like it did before. Its not showing any red X or error at all. I can test the sound and the visual looks like its working, but there's nothing coming out of the internal speakers. I've gone to Control Panel, Device Manager and there's not red Xs anywhere. The device driver says its working fine, but I didn't trust it, so I did a HP driver restore and put back the original one that came with the laptop .. .Still nothing.
I've read the troubleshooting articles on the HP Support pages, but nothing has worked so far. My next step is either to replace the audio board or the power button board. I'm not sure about the audio board because I don't know how its tied into the speakers AND plugging in external speakers IS working. It's really a sub board and seems to only have the external ports for the microphone and speakers as well as the infra-red port. The internal speakers are plugged into the power button board and I thought that is where the problem might be since putting in a new internal speaker didn't seem to work. The microphone is also plugged into the power button board, but that seems to be working though.
I have disabled internal sound microphone.How can i enable this?My laptop is HP Envy m6 Notebook PC(model number: D1E93UAR#ABA).

The internal speakers were not working and when checked cones of both the speakers are damaged. I need replacement of the entire speaker bar.
I'm trying to have simultaneous sound from both the headphone jack as well as the internal speakers. I've enabled the concurrent audio via the Smart Audio panel (Audio Director), tried the blue and red buttons (got successful results), but all of the computer sounds still come from the headphone jack.

I have a Dell E1505 running XP. The headphone jack works but the internal computer speakers do not. Here's what I know:
(1) it's not the speakers. I've swapped an identical set of working speakers.
(2) it doesn't appear to be a software or driver problem. My settings look identical to those of another E1505, and I have tried re-installing drivers several times.
When I plug the headset in, the sound is routed to the headphones, but the internal speakers continue to sound also.
Is there a way to turn off the internal speakers off while listening through the headphones?
I've got a Dell XPS 1640. My internal speakers don't work with itunes and most other applications. However, when I ran the Dell diagnostics, sound was produced. Dell tech support told me that its a software problem because there was sound in the diagnostic test.
They checked the drivers etc which are current and recommended that I reformat back to factory settings which is a major hassle. I'm running Vista 64 bit, but do have a Windows 7 update disk which I haven't installed yet. They told me that installing the Windows 7 update wouldn't fix the problem. My speakers stopped working after I dropped the laptop on the front edge (yes clever).
Curious thing is there is a red LED glowing from inside the ear phone socket that I never noticed before. It looks really cool. Anyways I get sound out of the ear phones but not the speaker.
I tried inserting and jiggling the ear phone jack to see if there speakers were somehow deactivated by means of the earphones. No luck.
My next step is to open up the laptop too see what I can find.
I'm wondering has anyone delved into a 5672 (or similar) that could guide me to what to expect.

Im trying to record some audio using my new Vostro 1510 but I can't seem to select the internal microphone and it allows me use the 3.5mm plug with a external microphone.
I think the microphone is left to the webcam
But there is no selection in the Sound settings.
Tried in Skype, WLM, etc. It worked fine in Vista basic. I upgraded to ultimate and it doesnt work .....

I am facing a strange problem with my Inspiron 6400, a tick sound is heard from the laptop internal speakers everytime I press a key on keyboard OR even if I press a multimedia key provided at the front of the laptop. This has never happened before and I am unable to fix it.
The sound starts coming as soon as the system boots up. I have both Vista and XP installed so I get an option to select the OS I want to choose on startup. I hear the sound on pressing any key of keyboard even at this stage before selecting the OS. This confirms that it has nothing to do with the OS but is something wrong at the hardware level or BIOS, which I want to find out and need your help.
Two days back there was a Blue screen with some error (which I couldn't recall) and the problem started after that. It asked me to shutdown the machine to prevent further damage. I forcefully shut it down and then it wouldn't boot until I pressed the ESC key several times. However after that, the system is booting up normally but the sound keeps coming. How annoying it is.
I tried muting the internal PC speakers from Vista/XP but to no avail.
On my W510, I would like to set the volume on the internal speakers to "mute" while setting a different volume on the headset jack, in windows 7

Normally I can find 2 different audio devices in windows, and control them separately.

The laptop is a HP EliteBook 8440p running Windows 7 Professional Win7Pro.
The HP Wireless Assistant has the following message: Wireless LAN Adapter: This device is disabled in the device manager and cannot be enabled from Wirelss Assistant. It can still be turned off.
I have checked the device manager do not see where to turn it on.
There is a blue light on the above the keyboard and on the front side of the laptop. It's turned on in the bios. I've tried to resintall the driver.

The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..

Stopping the playback stops the white noise after approximately 4 seconds. I never had this issue with any laptop / soundcard. Can this be fixed?
I have the latest BIOS and drivers installed. Headphones are fine (no white noise).
Maybe the inbuilt L440 soundcard has a problem. I had to return my first L440 because there was a loud plop when starting playback and the left speaker was way quieter than the right one.
In the German part of this forum people are reporting problems realted to the internal speaker (cracking sound, white noise).

Now if I plug in headphones then the sound comes exclusively from the headphones. If I pull then out again the sound comes from the speakers and so on.
In my case the situation is the following: If I have no headphones plugged in and turn on music, then I hear if via speakers. If I decide to continue listening to that music via headphones and plug them in, then the music continues to come from the speakers, but for example the notification sound from outlook comes from the headphones. This works vice versa.
If I open, say youtube to watch a video, while having the headphones plugged in, I will hear the sound via them. If I now unplugg them, the speakers will stay silent.
What can I do that if there are no external speakers plugged in (headphones etc.) every sound will be played by the internal speakers, if I plug in some sort of external speaker it comes from them and if I unplugg it it switches back to the internal speakers?
I have an HP Pavilion G6 notebook and I recently bought a USB microphone for recording. I installed the mic and tested it but when I tried to turn the internal mic back on I couldn't get it to record! The speakers and webcam still work fine. what can I do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with the internal microphone located at the top of the display on the HP G60 notebook PC, pre-loaded with the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. All OS, PC drivers and system ROM have been updated to current.
The sound it produces is at best barely audible or usually completely inaudible. This is true when I use the internal Sound Recorder app as well as when I try to utilize Windows Live and Skype for either audio or video calls. The fact it behaves this way using Sound Recorder proves it has nothing to do with firewalls or internet latency. Also, I can hear and see the people I'm trying to communicate with just fine.
I first noticed the problem on an HP G60t system I purchased from hpshopping.com in early December 2009, which was a custom build and shipped to me. I opened a case with support and they told me I would have to ship it back for repair or I could just return it. I returned it.
Figuring I was just unlucky enough to get a bad system, I then went to Best Buy in late December 2009 and bought a second HP G60, this time a G60-535DX, which was similarly configured. Guess what? The exact same problem.
I have been researching these HP support forums and the customer reviews posted at bestbuy.com for the HP G60. It seems many people are having the exact same problems. I have a sony vaio Sz691N laptop and got windows 7 64 bits installed. The high definition audio controller is always disabled after restarting. I have to go to device manager to enable it every time. it is annoying me. Has anyone had the same problem before and has a solution?

After I upgraded to 8.1, I've downloaded the latest drivers form IDT i think oct-2013 but i still cant enable my beats, i have the UI for the beats control panel but i cant use the beats as a hardware fn+b is not working anymore!!!?
