HP ProBook 440G1 OS/Software :: Can't Disable Option AHCI To Setup Correctly For New Installation Of XP
Apr 4, 2014
I need to install win XP on a Probook 440G1, but I can't disable the option AHCI in order to setup correctly for the new installation of win XP,is there a chance to "unlock" that BIOS option or just an option to disable AHCI mode?
Going to install a SSD to my HP Pavilion Dv6-2119tx (WF606PA) I had a quick look in the bios but no option to turn on AHCI as going to reinstall Windows 7 as not sure if my laptop can handle Windows 8.
I've Probook 4540s notebook , I tried installing watchdogs , after restarting windows doesn't start up correctly , a black screen with blinkin cursor and wifi Icon. I'm using safe mode now :/
W540 20BG001CGE, had BIOS 1.05 and RAID 1 with two Samsung 840 EVO 1TB working fine under Windows 7 - x64. Did a (by lenovo update tool recommended) BIOS Update with the bios update manager to 2.05. Update ran fine. After Rebooting (and loading defaults, disabling Intel Rapid Start, Changing BIOS boot option to legacy first ... I recognized SATA Option (AHCI or RAID) in BIOS is gone. At boot Intel Matrix Storage Configuration doesnot appear anymore (where you can build RAID etc).
Boot then brings up message "missing operating system".
Downgrade to BIOS 1.05 impossible, due to ISO File on www.lenovo.com support is not system compatible, message "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk; Replace te disk, and then press any key") (The link to the ISO File version 1.05 at the bottom of this page links a non bootable ISO image [URL]....) Also the downgrade to BIOS version 1.08 found here [URL] .... does not work, CD also messages "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk - Replace ...").
Rewriting BIOS version 2.05 (GNET57WW) does not work (says "BIOS update not necessary").
Embedded Controller Version GMHT25WW (1.10) ME Firmware Version 9.0.22.1467. How to get back my RAID controller?
I'm on BIOS vA0 and could not find in USB SETUP OPTION to enable charging feature while laptop power in OFF position. Should I upgrade the BIOS version or there will not be such feature in latitute E6220?
I recently bought a Probook 455 G1 and I would like to create Windows 8 installation media for it. However, the setup tool provided by Microsoft doesn't accept the OEM key found by my KeyFinder program. Where to download (unmodified) 64-bit Windows 8 installation media legally?
I'm currently running XP and need to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. I understand that I'll need to do a clean installation, but I'm wondering if my computer will support Win7Pro?
The computer is running an Intel Core2 Duo CPU t6570 @ 2.10GHz (2.09 GHz), 2.99 GB RAM.
New ThinkPad T440p and the first issue I encountered is there is no option to disable the touchpad when an external mouse is detected. I don't want to do it via the bios or some other hack as I use the touchpad when it is not convenient to use an external mouse. So it should be able to do the switching as needed, this is a simple feature that other manufacturers have had for years and years.
I already upgrade the UltraNav Driver to the latest v18.0.7.57 and that didn’t present a solution. I am running Windows 7 SP1 - 64bit.
I know iTunes is full of bugs and I'm really starting to get annoyed but this maybe the straw that puts me over the edge to finding an alternative. I've tried 2 different brands of CD's and even one that was a friggin "Sony CD-R". Still when iTunes burns my disks it'll finish like normal and mount the finished product in the sidebar, and upon first inspection it looks fine but when I play through the CD all the ends of my songs are cut off and some skip and then some are just plain not there (towards the end of the disk).
I've looked at the individual song properties and none of them specify a start or end time and I'm at a loss as to what to do. I know CD's aren't expensive but when I only burn like 1-2 a month, and I buy a five pack and it messes them all up that's money I'm just "burning" (pun intended). Could it be a problem with the buffer under-run? In that case it's HW and I'd need to RMA it to Sony... or is there some special tool I can use to see if I can calibrate the drive or something? the drive in QTS is an Optiarc BD-ROM BC-5500S4 with the released firmware update.
I have a dv2550se with windows xp installed. (Before it was vista but i reinstalled it).
However, the DVDRW is not being recognized as DVDRW. When I go to My Computer it says that its a DVD-RAM drive. So basically I can't write anything . I tried uninstalling the driver in device manager but still nothing.
I have a Dell XPS M1530. Since I am a college student, and when I usually leave class, I just close my laptop.
let it go to sleep, and put it in my bag. The problem lately has been that when I close my laptop, it does not go into sleep mode, even though it is set for it to do this.
It will do this on both battery and AC power. I will put it into sleep overnight so it is in sleep when I put it in my bag in the morning.
And once last week I put it in there thinking it was a sleep and then 3 hours later while I was at work,
I had not brought it out yet, and opened my bag and the laptop never turned off, it had been running the whole time and was hot, and had 22 minutes of battery left.........
i am experiencing a weird problem, it just happened like 2 weeks ago, and i been looking all over the place to find out how to fix this problem, but the problem is that the little green "bar" under my hard drive in my computer is not showing,
it just shows empty like if there is nothing in my C drive, here is a screenshot of my computer to clarify exactly what im talking about, and i put little red arrows pointing towards exactly where the "bars" are located ...
I have an M4400 running W7 pro x64, and at work I have it docked and use both the laptop screen and an external screen (don't know if that matters).
Sometimes, not always but quite often, when I put it to sleep (aka standby) by using the start menu command, it behaves as if it goes to sleep, the screen blacks out etc, but it doesn't really.
And I realize this when I've arrived at home and pick it out of its bag, it is *hot* really hot and still running.
I've been having major problems browsing the internet lately. Safari won't stay open for more than 2 minutes without crashing and Firefox will half the time not format web pages correctly. For example, as I'm typing this in FF right now, in my tool bar up above this text box I have the boxes with bold, italics and underline options showing, but I can't select them. Even worse, the rest of where boxes should be just have text, for example it says Align Left, Align Center and Align Right instead of having selectable boxes. What is up with my browsers?
I have an HP Pavilion g7-1368dx laptop with Windows 7 that I purchased in June 2012, so it's out of warranty.
A couple weeks ago it had a thermal shutdown one time during use. After cooling down, the laptop functioned fine for a few uses, but then it started giving the startup warning message, "The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly," with additional indication about potential damage if the computer is operated in that condition.
I ordered a new fan and replaced it, and I cleaned the fan grill in the process (though it wasn't incredibly dirty), but I still get the same fan error message. I went to HP's website and saw the suggestion to do a "hard reset," so I did that, but the problem still persists.
I saw another suggestion of trying a BIOS update, but I figured that wouldn't be advisable since the fan isn't working. Would going through with the BIOS update attempt anyway?
I have a cannon Pixma MX870 printer which works very well with my Inspiron 530 desktop (windows vista), but my Inspiron laptop 1545 (windows 7) is not able to scan, nor can I do it from the display on the front of the printer.
I have recently purchased HP 15R 036TU Laptop. Its function keys are not working properly. Like if press F2 it adjusts brightness instead of changing folder name. What change in setting are required.
Today when I booted up my laptop, it shows the Dell logo and goes to a screen that only shows me a few things. It says "Boot mode is set to:UEFI; Secure boot:ON" Then there are two categories, "UEFI BOOT: Network" and "OTHER OPTIONS: Setup, Diagnostics, Change boot mode settings" I ran the diagnostics in ePSA and it said there's something wrong with the video card. It gives error 2000-0332 - "Video memory -Video memory integrity test discrepancy"... when I searched for this code, it said the solution is "Flash latest BIOS, retry diagnostics."
when I got the 1730 from Dell, right out of the box I was getting 15,500 on 3DMark05. I installed Dell's 'new' driver on their site and it lowered to around 15,000, so I rolled back to the original 'pre-release' driver and it popped back up to the original scores (this is stock, non-overclocked, btw...when CPU is cranked to 3.4Ghz, it gets ~17,000). This was dandy, and I was very happy with the performance of pre-release drivers.
So many games didn't work with Vista, or else worked badly (i.e. crashes), that I decided to reformat and put XP on there. Well, I figured I'd put the video drivers from Dell's Reinstall CD on there, thinking these were the same 'pre-release' drivers that were allowing the better scores in Vista. BOOM: I get 10,000 in 3DMark05, a 1/3 performance decrease! Believe me, I tweaked the driver settings just like I always do...SLI is definitely 'enabled' in the driver page, but the computer performs as if it is DISABLED. So, thinking it's a driver issue, I upgrade to the 'new' drivers on Dell's Support site, and BOOM: same issue. I'm so pissed off right now, I can hardly type, as this is LOWER than my 1710. For $4000, I could have bought a lot of hookers and coke, so this laptop may be going back with extreme prejudice if a solution isn't found in the next five to seven days.
There are threads about this in other forums around the net, but none of them I've found have any real workaround or solution other than 'we'll have to wait for Dell or Nvidia to properly support SLI.' Even the 'pre-release' driver on the system when it ships is not available for download anywhere, and I believe it's Visa-only anyway. Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Hell, is anyone else HAVING this problem? I PM-ed Progneta yesterday, because I thought he had had the same issue and fixed it, but the more I thought about it, the more I figured a separate thread should be started concerning this problem, since it's pretty basic and very crippling. SOMEBODY at Dell should have caught this, since I know for a fact the engineers over there EXPECT people for format their machines when they get them (i.e. this is marketed to an enthusiast crowd, and they know it).
Is my volume control working correctly? The touch thing at the left. It changes the volume in blocks of 2, but even 2 blocks is quite loud and very difficult to set it at 2 blocks in the first place. Normally it goes to 4 blocks then 0 volume and takes time to set it at 2. Having to set the volume using the bottom right icon atm.
Is there anyway to get it more accurate and have a better range of volumes in the lower levels?. I did uninstall a lot of the junk programs that came with it but not launch manager
I'm bought laptop dell vostrol 5470 in Aug 2014. My laptop use windows 8.1 64 bit.Recently, I have a problem with my keyboard.
- when I press shift key left, my lappop is displayed letter 'SFJL' or 'SFJLk' on Microsoft Office
- when i press shift key right, my lapptop is turned on Caps lock
I have connected with another key board [key board for desktop]. It is not operated.I have opened soft key board and click shift button [left/right]. It's operated normally..I can not input some letter such as shift + 2 = @, shift + 3 = #... So what happen with my key board, and How can I repair it.
Sometimes when I boot up my Dell XPS 12 laptop the keyboard doesn't work correctly. Certain keys don't type letters, sorta like the CTRL key or Windows key is stuck down. I have tried a lot of different things (pressing various keys, checking system logs, check keyboard status, etc.) and the only thing that works is to reboot the laptop. Most of the time this fixes the problem, but it is annoying to have to reboot when this happens. I have upgraded the drivers to the latest versions available on the Dell website.
Apart from windows 8.1 however that is not the concern of this post. My mouse pad stops working when I press a key, as in if I press 'W' whilst trying to move the mouse on the screen then the mouse tracking stops. So it is impossibe to play any sort of games and makes it realy difficult to do other things and is just annoying. The only button which does not affect this is the sift key. Is there a setting or something like that or am I just unfortunate?
I am having an issue with 3 devices not being installed correctly. I am working a 32 Bit Operating system, Vista Business.
The main problem that I am noticing is that I do not have WIFI avail at the minute, but I do not know which of these devices is the issue.
They are:
Base System Device (Hardware ID) PCIVEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_024F1028&REV_11PCIVEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_024F1028PCIVEN_1180 &DEV_0843&CC_088000PCIVEN_1180&DEV_0843&CC_0880

I own a Acer Aspire V5 laptop and noticed a problem with the delete key recently while I was using Microsoft Office Word. Whenever I pressed the delete key it wouldn't delete what I selected and instead opened up the Key Tips in the ribbon. After having my son look at it he couldn't figure out the problem as well, but he noticed that the Delete key was functioning in the same as the Alt key. How to get delete key working correctly again?
Recently began recollecting drivers needed for Latitude E6410 Win 7 32 bit fresh build, and found some descrepancies. 1 "How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order" (Dated 8-14-2006) on the Latitude E6410 driver page states that for number 8 the Dell ControlPoint software Says it is located in "Applications" when itis in fact under Dell Control Point. It Suggests installing the following:
-Control Point System Manger -Control Point Security Manager -Control Point Connection Manager
But in fact the only 2 available are Control Point System Manager and Control Vault (A little confusing). Also, under System Utilities is the PDF E-Family How-To Reimage Guide Which is marked urgent and I use for recreating images. It states that the Driver that has to be installed (Prerequisite to other DCP ) is Dell Control Point Security Driver Pack. Which is no where to be found. I heard toady from "Ronnie" at Dell Tech services via phone that I should use Dell Data Protection (Instead of Dell Control Point) but can find nothing on the correct order or how and when to install it.
Is there anyway to get an updated Latitude E6410 Win 7 32bit Correct order (And which ones) Driver install list?
