I have a latitude E6540 and when I connect a external usb 3.0 disk it begins connect and disconnect randomly. I have tryed another disk and I have the same problem. This USB disk in other latitude E6540 works fine. I have disabled power option in the usb devices and reinstall drivers but nothing solved the problem.

I have excellent wifi signal and yet my laptop constantly connects and disconnects. The length of time varies. Some days I get to be on the net while others I dont at all. I have run diagnostics, downloaded darn near every update imaginable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe A10 BIOS update for the E6540, released on the 4th of July, causes severe keyboard issues on Linux. During routine typing, keys will 'stick' until any other key is pressed. The keys that stick vary and seem random: sometimes it's the space bar, sometimes alphanumerics and sometimes, worst of all, the backspace key.
This went on for a couple of weeks, I then noted that the BIOS update changelog included "Keyboard input improvement." and so rebooted back in to Windows 7 and downgraded to A08. I have had no problems since.
OS: Arch Linux, kernel 3.15.x, KDE 4.13.x
I've also had problems with the backlight coming on on its own, after the lid has been shut, but I have not been able to determine if this is a firmware issue. I do note however, that LCD backlight issues have been addressed in this BIOS update as well. My current workaround is to use the possum mode thingy (Fn + B), which turns off all sound and vision.

When i plug in PSU into my notebook, then i turn it on, and after windows loads, it starting to make strange noise. after it warm up to 30 deegres of celsius, it stops making it
I have noticed that loudness of the noise is inversly proportional to load and temperature. When PSU is cold and notebook is idling - it makes the strange noise. When PSU cold and noteboot is under moderate load - it stops making it. When PSU is warm (about 30 deegres of celsius) and is idling - i need to PSU at front of my ear.
The noise seems to coming from AC connector's side (Where PSU have connector for AC cable). PSU doesn't make this noise when i put it off from notebook.
Why PSU does make such noise? Why it is inversly proportional to temperature and load ? This is dangerous to me and my notebook ?
Exactly it looks like:
1. I turn on my notebook under AC, the PSU is making "click sound" till it become warmer.
2. After that there is buzzing sound, that is not as loud as clicking (i have to put ear at front of my PSU), and the buzzing sound is inversly proportional to load of the PSU.

Another on my growing list of unwelcome "features" of this machine...
Around 20 seconds after logging in after a full reboot my Wi-Fi connection is dropped (having already connected during the boot/login).
I'm using the Intel software to manage the Wi-Fi connection and it says it can't connect because the hardware switch is set to off. This is obviously untrue.
Only solution I've found is to manually flick the hardware switch to OFF and then back to ON, then it automatically connects.
Seems like a BIOS issue if it's suddenly turning the adapter off for no reason. I'm already on the latest A07. Problem does not occur when hibernating and resuming from hibernation.
I previously let Windows manage the Wi-Fi connection but it never automatically connected at all, hence the switch to the Intel utility.
My Latitude E6520 beeps randomly for no reason I can find. It is not the power adapter itself that is beeping and I have had not problems with the system charging and staying charged. I have one charger at work powering a dock and a different adapter at home. The laptop beeps randomly both.

They shutdown randomly. In the bios event we can see "ASF2 Force Off"
They have all the latest bios version (A15). They all pass the onboard diagnostics.
Motherboard, CPU and heatsink already replaced.
I regularly find that, with a single keystroke, my brand new Dell Latitude e5540 laptop randommly produces 2 spaces (most often) and double letters (sommewhat less often than the doubled spaces, but consistently and predictably). The faster I type, the more oftenn the errors occur... I have found it to be an issue of how hard I strike the keys. The keys controlled by my dominant right hand are most often affected whereas those controlled by my pinkie fingers NEVER have been affected.
I amm only one of many employees at my place of work who all are experiencing the same problemm. I have asked repeatedly for Dell to let me know the extent of this problem and whether they have a recall of this model (which, as far as I can tell, is pervasive with this particular mmodel). My persistent questions have never been answered by Dell, despite numerous contacts with 3 different agents.
P.S. If you notice double letters where there should be single letters or extra spaces in this e-mail and this post scrippt, please read on for the reasonn: I am using the brand new Dell Latitude e5540 computer our school system recently purchased to write this e-mail. I have simmply givven up editing my typing... you're getting the spontaneous errors caused by this computer so you can see for yourself and hopefully to motivate Dell to fix the problemm soonner, rather than latter.
IMPORTANTLY, if you are having similar problems with YOUR BRAND NEW Dell Latitude e5540 laptop you specifically will NOT have tthese problems if you use an external keyboard... it only occurs with the laptop's built in keyboard) PLEASE send me your servvice tag (S/N) nummber from the bottom of your Delll LLatitude e5540 computer and I will include your commputer in my conntact with Delll about this problem. (It is a problemm of this particular model... I have never experiennced this before with any other computer).

We have a problem of keyboard with many Dell Latitude e3540 . Some keys randomly stop responding . We have updated the firmware to version A08 but unable to fix it. Also reinstall the driver keyboard controller with the same result .
The only thing that can solve the problem was momentarily disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard . Likewise, the problem usually returns . The local support Dell keyboards we changed several times but the problem persisted.
I am having some difficulty getting a Dell Latitude D630 to connect to a projector. I have tried the Fn key+F8 key however this does not work. This option merely cycles through three other options all saying 'Presentation Mode Off'. I have been successful in connecting other laptops with the projector. Is there somthing with the D630 that I have failed to do that is causing this?

With this configuration if I have the 2 monitors running I can't get any picture on the laptop screen. I'm having an issue with my E6400 running on Vista x86. Whenever I leave the computer for a period of time and the monitor turns off by itself, it seems like my network connection gets disconnected.
This only happens on Ethernet and never on wireless. After I come back to the computer, all my network applications are disconnected and I can see my network icon in the system tray flash from disconnect to connected again.
Is anyone else having the same issue and fixed it? I already checking all the power options in Vista and tried updating drivers from Intel and Dell.

Also I noticed there is always some delay in typing display. Sometimes there is about half a second delay between I type in the word and the word displayed on the screen. i disconnected the video cable that connects to the screen however there is another cable connected on the right side. and i cant seem to find the spot to disconnect it.
My HP Envy m6 laptop cannot connect to our wifi connection and only connects using the cable connection, ethernet.
It was still fine when I downloaded windows 8.1 but all of a sudden displays limited/no connectivity. Yesterday, I connected the 13.3" MBP to the network and initial manual connection was fine. However, if I turn off and turn on AirPort or restart the computer, it doesn't re-connect automatically. The only time it re-connects is when I enable SSID broadcast. Is this the only option for MBPs (i.e., no auto connection to hidden SSID networks)?

Have windows 8.1..I am using Wi-Fi, here's a screenshot of my drivers.I dont have this problem in another city, where I'm studying(I insert cable there for connection(campus network)).Also here at home, my brother has the exact same computer and w8.1 and he doesnt have any connection issues.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to ask about the Lenovo Energy Management software bundled with my Z400. Regarding the Energy Management > Battery > "Optimized Battery Health" in particular. When the battery charges until 60%, does it internally disconnect the charger from my battery? The Power icon in the System Tray says "Plugged in, not charging". Or does the software stops the charging until 60%, and when it lowers the software allows it to recharge again? I'm worried about getting my battery worn out immediately, as I leave my charger plugged in most of the time.
