I'm scoring about 1080 or so on my 1330 on 3Dmark06 with the nvidia 8400m gs motherboard. T 7500 cpu and 3 gig ram. Vista 32 bit. Right now I've got the 179.28 video driver, the others i've tried are similar..
Are these typical results? If I'm underperforming, what should I look at for improvements?..
I'm having A LOT of problems lately with this pos (see sig for specs).
The thing kept on slowing down when browsing/watching movies/playing OLD games (warcraft 3 basically).
What happens is that from boot till now cpu idles at 100%.
I've scanned the pc, I got rid of services. Nada.
Today was even worse, the pc got extremely slow so I rebooted, then in the vista lůading screen it took ages (about 10 minutes), sometimes it would turn off before vista even finished loading, I couldn't even get into safe-mode.
So, I let it cool off, and turned it back on after an hour. Everything was fine then but after playing a short game in warcraft it started acting up again.
I'm using Vista Home SP1, I basically turned off all the useless services and startup app. turned off indexing VAC etc.
My temp are (HWmonitor): CPU: 65, Mobo: 60, GPU: 85, HDD: 45
Sometimes I carry my laptop in my backpack to uni and tend to forget that it's in there and when coming home I tend to trop it from around 5-10 cm height (rarely happens) but I thought it might have to do something with this.
But then after noticing these weird hangups I'm thinking this pos is just overheating.
As I'm writing this everything is EXTREMELY slow I can't even open the task manager properly.
I currently have a xps 1330 with Intel core 2 duo T7500 2.2ghz Nvidia 8400M gs 3GB ram Operating on Vista home premium sp1
So far everything was going well on my laptop, did the tweaks I found on the forum and the laptop was performing very quickly. I noticed it was overheating however and called dell and they sent me a replacement motherboard.
Everything was working fine at first until I notice a huge performance drop. The computer took around 3-5 minutes to start up and all the programs took quite a while to start. The cpu usage was constantly reaching 100%.
After calling dell a few times and running a bunch of test and spyware removal tools, the problem still exist. I noticed today that this problem is only occurring when the ac adapter is plugged in and will work fine on just battery power. I called dell again today to report this finding and they still couldn't figure out what was wrong, they were just sure it couldn't be a hardware error. They can only suggest I do a clean install of Vista.
Hi. This is my first post and I am a self confessed novice, so I apologise if my question has been covered elsewhere (I tried a Search but couldn't see anything specific to my question).
I have a Dell XPS 1330, with a Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG adapter installed (as part of teh orginal build by Dell). The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2.00GHz Level 6 Revision 3853.
I have recently upgraded my home Wireless Router to a Netgear WNDR 3700, which is Draft N and Dual Band. I would now like to upgrade the adapter in my XPS1330 to take advantage of the N draft and Dual Band router.
Is this possible? If so, what new wireless card would you recommend which will be compatable with 1330.
I just installed Win7 RC 64-bit on my xps1330. Everything is working except the screen brightness setting.
Windows 7 screen brightness settings in power management act more like a switch than a slider. When set below a certain point, the screen either dims to a very low level and flickers, or turns off completely and the only way to restore it is to close the lid (sleep), and then wake the laptop.
The [func] + arrow keys also work erratically. As it stands, the screen can either be on full brightness, or very dimly lit and flickering, or off completely. Anyone else experiencing similar symptoms
I ran the 3Dmark06 test and I got 5345 on my SXPS 1640. I have heard of people getting much high. Am I missing something? I have the 4560Ati graphics and the T9550 Cpu. I ran it with it on the High performance power setting. Any help would be nice
OS: Windows 7 64 bit Processor: t8500 Video Card: 8600m gt Ram: 4 gigs Notebook: Vostro 1500
3dmark06 score: 2300.
I'm pretty sure this is abnormal, what do you guys think is the issue? I tried several drivers: some 19x.xx drivers and some 18x.xx drivers, of which I'm currently using 185.85 dox. The speeds are all around 2200-2400. Default settings used in 3dmark06.
Here is my latest score. This score is different from my first as my first run involved me goofin up driver crap and not having physics card installed.... Not that the card matter, but the scores are different.
My first test was 6506 (sorry I dont have a pic)
Here is my score with plain dell drivers, no overclock, just plain old sli 8700's... 7625
Theres not a doubt in my mind with different drivers and over clock ability, that the 8700m GT sli is not a bad vid card.... People have been stating theyve got pretty good game performace... Best part is, the upgrade for the 1730 can only get better! ehehe
I must be dumb, but if anyone comes across other 8700m GT drivers that can do SLi, I would really like to try them Prog
I have a Inspiron E1705 GO 7900 GS graphics card Intel Core 2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz Vista 32 bit
Ok so here is the deal, I can't overclock my card with atitool...I try running it as administrator, everything, and it wont run properly for me. Anyways can you give me some ideas to improve this free? Or help with Atitool.
After fooling around with various websites and downloading multiple versions. I got it to work....i got the core overclocked to 570...and every time i click the (+) button to up the memory, my computer freezes for maybey 2 seconds tops, and it doesnt budge at all.....
I reloaded my XPS finally (got tired of the dell build). I used the instructions from this forum. And the drivers. I used Vista Ult wSP1 builtin. I used LV2G driver 175.8 which got decent reviews on their site. SP1 apparantly includes the sli patch as it said I didnt need it when I tried to apply it.
I`ve just got XPS 1530 with 8600gt 4gb ram and ssd 128gb 3dmark gives mi 2134points? Verry odd. I am testing it through VNC remotele but I doubt that it slows it so much. BTW Ihad problems runing 3dmar06 i gave me an error about dx9. Counter Strike gives me 83 fps on stress test I added -dx9 to the shortcut of 3dmark06.exe to be able to run the test
I have a Dell Latitude E6530 and when I plugged in my monitor and keyboard into the docking station, they were not recognized.  But I can plug them into the laptop while docked and they are recognized.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 purchased about 2 and a half years ago. I was just deleting some random programs which I don't ever use, and accidentally clicked on uninstall Dell Data Safe Local Back up.
How to reinstall it? I tried to do so by clicking this link [URL] .... but it just came up with an error message.
my laptop vostro 3460 won't boot any more. When I turn it on it loads the Dell logo (I suppose it passes the POST) but then it just shows a black page. It could be anything, but I guess that it may have something to do with Windows 8 and the UEFI system. I also would be quite happy to install linux mint and get rid of Windows, but I don't know how to change the boot priority order.
So my questions are:
1 is it a hardware issue ? if not, can I solve my problem easily ?
2 how can I change the boot priority order, to install mint ?
