problem with my 8800 GTX in my XPS 1730...
Within Vista, both cards show up with a yellow exclamaton and a error code 43
I tried installing drivers off the dell website and then using Nvidia Reference drivers. No luck...
Re-Installed vista fresh- same problem...
Installed Windows 7 w/ Refernce Nvidia drivers - Same problem.
THEN..I installed Windows XP Pro SP3 with Dell website drivers and everything is working fine. Ran 3dmark, no crashes...
is this a software problem or hardware? Why would my 8800 work in XP but not Vista or Win 7? Has anyone heard of this problem? My 1730 is out of warranty so calling dell isnt an option.
About 10 Keys randomly do not work. Unbelievable. I've had it with this machine after 10 days.

It only seems to happen when I'm playing WoW... and its getting really annoying. I had thought it was an overheating problem before, but I've been able to keep my GPU temp under control pretty well lately.
My wife picked up a Dell 1537 and has been experiencing blue screen issues. It only happens when the computer is turned on or restarted.
I have checked the event viewer and there is nothing that looks suspicious or outside the norm. I made sure that drivers were updated. I tried running Memtest86 but it closes and starts to load Windows after running for 10 seconds
I have a inspiron 1505 with bluetooth 355 factory installed.
When I use the Blueant b/t headset and skype I get the blue screen and with as I recall the error message is E08.
I have queried dell, blueant and skype about what could be causing this but without success.
I was wondering if anybody could help me. I have a m1530 and my LCD has this blue lines going down the screen majority of the time. However if I angle the LCD just right it goes back to normal.
It appears to be some kind of connection problem because (again) it does go back to normal after moving around the screen to that exact angle. Anybody have any suggestions? I have added comparison pics to this thread.
Please excuse the poor quality pics...i dunno why my camera did that. I just wanted to ask here first to see if I can open up the laptop and fix it bc I'd have to downgrade back to Vista before sending the laptop to Dell.
I was doing some 3d work when all the sudden everything went crazy(graphic error crazy) then everytime i start my computer i get vertical blue dots and i get a blue

I have bought a new laptop, Dell XPS 14Z, 14 inch, with Windows 7 Premeium installed on it. However, I have a couple of problems from the very start which makes me regret buying it. The laptop works great, but sometimes when I try to shut it down, it doesn't. Just a blue window with shutting down sign but it never turns off perfectly.
The second problem is even deadlier. A blue screen, once a day or two days once appears and I never know why. This death screen comes from nowhere without any reason, I scanned my computer and there's no trace of virus. The only think recognizeable from the screen is this file 'tixhci.sys" file.
The laptop is very good in terms of hardware, 2.5 CPU i5, RAM 4GB, 500GB of hard drive and 1GB of display card.
First of all id like to say "hello" to everyone, as ive just registered with this forum.
My Studio17 turned up last week and basically ive just been getting used to my new toy, trying out wireless etc.
Anyways in the last two days I decided to see what games the machine, and Vista, would run .....
whenever i shutdown, i get the blue screen and this message:
stop: c00000219 {Fatal System Error}
The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shutdow
i have xp os.
I've been getting the occasional BSOD on my 1705 with the 7900 GS. Is there any fix for this? I saw the one for the 7950 GTX but I don't know if that works the same as the 7900 GS.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Dell XPS with Model : L501X purchased in Malaysia hand carried to Philippines about 2 weeks ago.
Upon receiving I have noticed that a Blue Screen appears with nvlddmkm.sys error every time I play a video initially stored in the laptop hard drive or via youtube.
I have also noticed there were two video drivers installed which where Intel HD graphics and Geforce GT 420M drivers. I installed an updated GT 420M driver through driver downloads in dell support. Unfortunately it did not resolve the issue.
To relieve my doubts of driver conflicts, I have freshly installed a Windows 7 home premium but BSOD still keeps on occurring.
I am currently running this computer using only one video driver (Intel HD Graphics), I want to run this computer using Nvidia Geforce GT 420M.
How am I gonna do that without having BSOD recurring?
Is it also normal to hear some frequently very mild ticking sound coming from the right side of the keyboard and mildly grounding sting on the plastic aluminum colored frame around the keyboard?
BTW, here are some hardware info :
Model : L501X
Processor : Core i5
Ram : 4 Gb
Hdd : 500 Gb
VCard : Nvidia Geforce GT 420M - 1 Gb
I have a blue screen Stop 0 x 0000007B etc at start up. I have tried pressing F12 when I see the Dell logo and run all the checks available but still get blue screen.
I have taken to my local computer shop and they are unable to fix. said it has a RAID ARY 2 hard drive set up and they do not have the equipment to fix it!
All of a sudden my OPTIARC BD ROM 5500A drive does not recognize when a Blu-ray movie is inserted. I try to open the drive with a movie inside and it tells me to please insert a disc and ejects the drive.
I chated with the sony analysts and they told me to (in this order after the previous solution did not work):
1. Update WinDVD player
2. Reinstall WinDVD player
3. Update WinDVD player again
4. Restore my C: drive to factory conditions
5. Reset by BIOS
6. Take my laptop to a Sony shop and pay 600 dollars to get this fixed.
Everything points to hardware malfunction, but I find it weird that in my computer the drive is identified as a DVD-RW drive, when I KNOW that it used to be identified as a BD/DVD-RW drive.
DVDs and CDs play perfectly, but it acts like nothing is inside when I put in a Blu/RAy movie. In the device manager it is identified properly as an OPTIARC BD ROM, the driver it has is the generic CD drive windows driver (Sony support said that is what it should have).
Driver: cdrom.sys
File version: 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101/2205)
My hp dv5000 has been malftunctioning for the last few weeks, its shuting down ramdomly, i was wondering if my laptop may need a new battery (its i think been 2 1/2 years since i bought my computer). Im also not sure if it could be cause by a software malfuction or viruz. I would check to see if its a software malfuction but it doesnt stay on long enought.
I would like to know if i should get a new battery or if any of you know of any software malfunction could cause this.
The battery of my inspiron N5110 is 100% charged but my lap doesn’t turn on without the AC adapter, I checked it in the dell support center and it says its working fine but the battery led blinks 4 times red and 1 withe. If I disconnect the AC adapter the lap turns off. Everything else is fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI went to my dell outlet today and I looked at the m130 they had on display. The screen was absolutely magnificent by far the most crisp screen have ever seen on a laptop. I checked the type of screen and im pretty sure its lg.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem. I downloaded and installed the new demo for Time Shift. After it was complete it said it detected I did not have the latest drivers for my video card and I needed to download the latest ones for stable running of the game. So I clicked ok and it took me to a download of a Forceware driver (I've forgotten the numbers and have deleted it). After downloading it and running it, a box popped up and said I don't have the the compatible hardware/software to install those drivers (not exact words). So I thought ok, it will just exit and keep what I've got (dells stock 7900GTX driver). but after exiting the setup about 5 seconds later I got a blue screen stating a hardware error.
So I restarted my M1710 to notice blue dashed vertical lines on my screen and after the Windows XP loading page it would blue screen again so fast I cant read any of it. Now I can run in safe mode without the graphical screw ups on my screen. But the boot diagnostic detected no error. It displayed all those colored bars but there were weird glitches in them. I downloaded and re-installed Dells stock drivers to no avail. I searched my hardrive and registry for anything that said Forceware or the driver number and deleted all results. I system restored to no avail. So now I can only run in safe mode on a really ugly resolution.
What can I do before I resort to the 5+ day pain of return to depot service?....
Device manager shows no problems but says it can state the status of the card in safe mode. And I'm not technical enough to know how to use the event viewer to work out what went wrong.
I formatted windows on my M1330 and tried installing XP x86 however when i put the disk in and boot from CD it starts the windows process and when it says 'Windows is starting..
it will hang there for 40 seconds then a blue screen will appear saying..
I'm rebuilding an Insprion E1705 from several broken 9400/E1705. I get the following when I install Vista Ultimate 64bit.
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFFFFFF88010B85800, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFF8000A696440, 0x0000000000000000)
I have used the Dell Support Blue Screen Trouble-shooting.
It says: Use the Windows Debugger to pinpoint the exact cause of these errors.
Is there a Dos version or self booting CD version of the debugger so I can pinpoint the hardware that is causing the problem.
I bought a Dell Vostro 1710 because I needed a Windows XP notebook with a matte 17 inch screen. Only Dell and HP have such notebooks. The Dell Vostro 1710 is exactly what I need. But I got blue screens (BSOD). It happens complete randomly, sometimes after 1 hour, sometimes after 10 days. Dell’s solution was that I had to reinstall Windows XP and the drivers, which cost me three hours work. After some days the blue screen appears again. Than I had to install Windows update, and new drivers from internet. Two hours work. No result. Than I had to remove the memory modules one by one and test again. No result. Each time I used the Vostro for one or two days before the blue screen appears again. Then Dell replaced the complete motherboard. After some days the blue screen appears again. Then I had to reinstall Windows XP and the drivers again, no result.
Three hours work. This al together cost me many days of work. Then I received another new Vostro 1710. I used it without problems for 10 days. Than the blue screen appears again. So there are already 6 weeks gone but I don’t have a functioning Dell Vostro 1710 yet. I’m a programmer and have 20 years experience with PC’s. I never had blue screens on my other PC’s or notebooks. Who has the same problem with a new Dell Vostro 1710?
I've had my inspiron 14z for about 2 months now. From the start I've had issues with the computer crashing (blue screen). It started happening about every hour, and has now increased to about every 20 minutes. If left it will be on an- on- crash- restart loop for eternity every 20 minutes. I have tried updating drivers, I have done diagnostics at startup, not working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a aspire 3690 running vista. The left side of the keyboard types fine. The right side some keys don't work other type multiple letters and preforms different action. I replaced the keyboard twice thinking i bought a faulty one but still have the same problem. If i use a external USB or the onscreen keyboard it works fine. I also flashed the bio and still no change.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had this laptop 3 weeks, and this morning the keyboard suddenly stopped working properly. All was fine last night, but this morning, when I tried to log in, I found that I couldn't type my password. Most keys have stopped working, while others just come up with random symbols or punctuation marks (e.g. the Fn key now displays a /). I can press any key to get from the intro screen with the clock and date. The touchpad is working as it should. Attaching an external keyboard also works.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought FW 590FEB, after using it for 5 days, I got three times blue screen problem like this:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent the damage.

1st blue screen, windows 7 shut down unexpectedly
2nd blue screen, windows 7, don't really know since I went to out and find out when I start the pc, it said shut down unexpectedly,
3rd blue screen, windows 7 close/shut down by itself while i was running VLC and utorrent, and it when to the screen where we can choose start windows with safe mode or normal...
I don't know what is happening with this blue screen problem, since this is my first experience with this trouble,
Is it software/drive issue or hardware?
Should I restore it to factory setting?
I think it it shutdown by itself, every time i use Google Chrome and utorrent.....
Been recently having a problem with my M1730. On occasion my screen has been making a buzzing noise, accompanied by a major lag spike (this seems to be more frequent when I play games, but it still seldom happens when I'm not).
I don't believe that this problem happened -BEFORE- enabling SLI after installing Windows 7 (but with SLI off my FPS isn't so good).
I'm wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be? It's very troublesome, and I am desperately searching for a remedy. I have all my drivers and what not up to date. Has anyone run into this problem? Anyone know what it might be?
Having played with my 1730 for a day now I can safely say the performance in games is fantastic. I'm very happy.......
However, I've got to say I'm really disappointed by the screen. In dark games full screen brightness results iin incredibly washed out blacks. Lowering the brightness helps, but then the screen has no punch at all. It almost like a grey film over the screen, or that gamma is set too high. Lowering the brightness improves blacks significantly, but results in an image that is far too dark to use.
I suspect the anti-glare coating doesn't help. Even a few degrees vertical difference when watching the screen alters the brightness and colour temperature. I actually find myself angling the lid forward so I am slightly above the screen.
I've had many Dells now, and the screen on my M90 is FAR superior imo.
I'm wondering whether to contact Dell and try and get them to install one of those, unless anyone can come up with a solution. I think I have settings set to "my preference" and performance.
The thing is, the screen CAN look great when surfing etc, but the black performance and colour saturation on games is pretty poor.
