View 7 RepliesI know there are users who have been able to get sound out of their E6400s over Displayport, but all the users i have heard from and read about this from have had integrated intel video. Are there any E6400 with nVidia quadro nvs160 users that have successfully gotten digital audio out through the displayport using a displayport --> HDMI cable?

I have no audio. It has been previously working, but suddenly stopped. On the small speaker icon there is a red cross indicating "No Audio Output Device is enabled" When I log on to the computer i get a window that says "CWindowsSystem32AUDIOSES.DLL is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."
I have attempted to Troubleshoot but unable to get any sound. I have updated the Audio driver, but it is the up to date driver.

1. Laptop screen + monitor through VGA or DisplayPort. Less $
2. Dock + 2 monitors through VGA & DVI, or DVI & DisplayPort or DVI & DVI (depending on dock) more $$$
Is there a possible way of setting up two-monitors through the laptop without a dock by going through the VGA & DisplayPort that are already there?
What is the maximum output resolution on the VGA port
My computer is HP Compaq 7900p small. I bought new graphics card which is Asus AMD HD6450. When I test it I saw problem - no sound.
When I click on Sounds tab, I see that AMD HDMI Output-AMD High Definition Audio Device - not plugged in and I couldn't change it to default device. When I troubleshooted it, problem was that one or more audio devices isn't running.
I was searched in google for solution, and found it that I need to change in BIOS from DVI port to HDMI port, but in my comp BIOS version is 7.11 and I don't see where it would be changed.
Only what I did was that I swapped integrated audio to enabled then I get sound from my speakers, but AMD High Definition Audio Device still isn't plugged in. How to change it to default!
I have the above mentioned notebook and I was wondering is is possible to get different audio output from each of the two plugs that are available

I'm thinking of cloning the drive, boot in standard VGA, remove all the lenovo software and drivers, then install the Dell ones. Would this work? Are there any downsides to that? It would really save me time and effort as I've got around 150GB of data on that drive..
I watched a movie on my laptop and connected my surround audio receiver to the audio out jack. At first,
I heard feedback whining from the speakers. Once I disconnected the AC adapter power cord and used only the battery did the whine go away. Do you guys notice the same behavior?
It looks like the AC adapter is not fully shielded.
i read the manual, but didn't find any way to change the video card. let me know if this is possible, i'd like to change to more powerful video card. right now, mine is setup with nvidia quadro 160m.

type of connector needed for digital audio? I have not been able to confirm that my Acer 7720-6395 NB has a dual digital connection. The manual calls the jack a S/PDIF but looks like and allows a stereo plug to work. Talking to the folks at the Sony store claims that the jack could be a dual connector and would work with a headphone or a optical connection. Would love to watch a blue ray movie with 5.1 sound......

I have tried many, many things:

MOTHERBOARD:

PROBLEM:
Six Months Ago, the Sound Device Stopped Working, I get the following message (No Audio Output Device is installed): It is as if NO audio device is installed on the motherboard.
Here's the catch:
Sometimes when I START my computer the Device Works, and Sometimes It doesn't. If I restart the computer like 20-30 consecutive times (IF I'M LUCKY) chances that in one of these restarts the device MAY Work. Sometimes i go weeks without Audio.
Here are *some* things I've Tried:
1) Format the System:
Different OSs I've tried: Windows XP Home/Pro, Vista, 7 and Linux.
The expirience the same problem with all these OSs. So It's not an OS thing............
I have an HP DV6700 Laptop, and I recently installed Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) (The full version from MSDN academic alliance, not the release candidate). A few days afterward, I had an issue where my speaker icon has a red "x" over it, and when I hover over it it says "no audio output device is installed". The funny thing is that the speakers worked after windows update installed an update, then they stopped a few days later, and I cannot for the life of me get the speakers to work again!

However, my AMD HDMI Output is greyed out and static, or as I understand from other complainers; NOT PLUGGED IN. What can I do to solve this problem. My TV's native resolution is 1366 x 768. My VAIO FW-190 has Intel Chipset and both the Windows built in software and Intel provided graphic card settings software do not show the 1366x768 resolution. I can't find a way to set the Vaio's HDMI output to that resolution.

I do have realtek hd audio card and this card should have digital output. My gf has a toshiba satellite with the same card and she has it but I don't. I called sony and they replied (twice with different technicians) that this feature is not available on this model. Both audio cards have the same chip so I suspect that this feature is disabled hw.
It is not a driver problem. The driver does not install the Realtek Audio Manager so within the OS there is no way to enable it.
I have a HP Notebook 2000, with Windows 8.1. At some point, the hdmi output to monitor stopped sending an audio signal. The video signal is fine.
It is labeled in Device Manager: 1-STD HDMI TV (AMD High Definition Audio)
The monitor and hdmi cable work fine with other computers. I have disabled/enabled the HDMI device, and also updated drivers (Windows says my drivers are up to date).
I have a dv7-7270ca notebook and since a restart due to windows 8 updates I now have a red x on the speaker icon. I installed the HP driver for this model but it has an error in device manager that says:

I did run an audio test using the shut down-F2 and passed and could hear the sounds in the test.
I accidentally deleted the prgram via the control panel uninstall. Need to download an reinstall same.

I tried reinstalling the drivers AGAIN, and the sound worked.
