Dell :: Studio 1535 Very Hot Charger, Hdd, Left Palm Rest
Jul 2, 2009
I used my Studio 1535 without problem about 4-5 months and temperatures were fine. But from some time I have very strange problem. First my charger became relatively very hot, my mother consider it as very hot as well.
After my hard disk becomes hot 39-40 C, and now I guess as result from fan system and HDD high temperature, my left palm rest (typically warm on most notebooks) is hot too.
Recently got a Latitude E6400 w/ 2.66Ghz, 4GB RAM, nvidia 160m, 250GB (7200rpm). The left Palm rest is often very hot to keep my hand on it. I even use Antec Laptop cooler pad.
Checking temperatures using speedfan, I have following temps when the left palm rest is hot:
I know the HP dv5t's hard drive is on the left side , but is not located near the palm rest...instead it's near the battery compartment, just below it.
So what is under the left palm rest? Is it the GPU? CPU? It's pretty hot when in "High Performance" mode, but slightly warm when in "Power Saver" mode.
Does anyone else get a slight tingling or vibrating sensation on the right palmrest? It doesn't really bother me but I just find it peculiar....it's really hard to describe except that my hand can feel some kind of vibrating going on (it's very subtle and doesn't make noise). Anybody else know what I mean?
Before I buy this laptop I am wondering what is the palm rest made from? I did chat to dell and they said magnesium? It doesnt look like magnesium to me
There are dark grey marks on both side of the palm rest on my M1210 palm rest which doesn't come off no matter what i use on it. There were never there until i cleaned my laptop with some iso-propyl alcohol. I wiped the whole laptop and around the two palm rest area, silver stuff were coming off my laptop and transferring into onto my cloth.
The place where the silver things come off became a big dark spot on my laptop.
I sent my computer for repair to Dell after a fall and when it came back, it came back with a variety of new problem. turns out, dell people damaged the the motherboard and forgot a few screws with a new palm rest when they were "fixing" it.
Anyway, I got a technician to change the motherboard and I got a new palm rest. Now I have the feeling the palm rest/mouse pad get a bit warmer than before but I am not really sure.
How hot should it be for a normally functionning XPS 1530? It is not burning hot or anything but I don't remember if before it was getting this warm.
anyone familiar with taking apart a m1530? cause i got a new motherboard with a 8600gt and a new palmrest and i dont wanna open my laptop without having some knowledge about it...
The silver trim that runs around the border of the case is starting to wear away and pit around where my palms rest. Is this something covered by warranty? And if not is it reasonably affordable / simple to fix?
The main reason I wanted this computer was for it's looks, so the fact that it's already starting to form visual defects is really, really annoying.
Has anyone removed the stickers from the right palmrest of their E6400 (or similar)? The Windows Vista Basic sticker is really annoying to me, but it seems to be very securely attached and I don't want to ruin anything in the process of removing it....
Has anyone attempted to replace the palmrest/keyboard assembly on their S XPS 16? I've done keyboards on older Dell laptops but this seems a bit more involved. The metal trim on the palm rest is coming up so it would be nice to have it replaced,
I have an AR series Vaio and ive just got a new palm rest for it, can anyone tell me how easy they are to fit as i was expecting just a bit of plastic but its quite an in depth part where i think the keyboard and a few other things have to come off.
I was giving my 1645 a nice cleaning when I noticed a depression on the left hand side palm corner. The black of the palm rest actually sinks below the the silver trimming. Is this normal? is it supposed to be flush? Does it mean I need yet ANOTHER part replaced on this damn laptop?
I bought a Z2 VAIO a while back, and curiously my Z26 didn't come with the VAIO spec sticker on the palm rest. Now, I know that you would be going 'why would you want that?'
(since I read that people usually take those off because they look horrendous), but would it indicate something iffy with my Z26? I bought this from a Sony Style store
Just bought a Sony Viao 448 J/B the palm rest gets very warm almost hot when running. This is my first Viao so I'm not familiar with the normal symptoms.
i have had my like MB for just over a year...so my warranty just ran out. i noted that the top case has started cracking around the edge, and asking my friends and people who has the macbook, this is a pretty common problem. but mine is getting pretty bad.
Do you think Apple would send me a replacement topcase and if so, how much would it cost. i don't know if anyone else has had this problem and asked for a replacement.
So yeah I wasn't exactly handling the thing with utmost care, was holding the open laptop one-handed by the left front corner, heard a plastic snap sound... I press down on the flat black plastic area where your left palm would rest, just above the PC card slot.. it's a bit squishy. Does it flex for yours too, am I paranoid? Its not a problem just wondering...
Well people in my country is summer, and from some days (4-5 days) my Studio 1535 has annoying for me HDD and GPU temperatures.
I will attach old picture and current picture and you can compare the temperatures. Plus the fan stays on higher speed and it just don't want to turn itself back to normal light speed mode, I guess because high HDD and GPU temperatures.
My left mouse button on my touchpad of my dell studio 1535 was loose, so I opened up the bottom case to SEE if there was anything I could do.....
I QUICKLY determined there was NOT anything I could do, so I closed it back up and turned it on....ONLY it did NOT turn on....NOTHING...no screen, no lights, no noises....and the battery is fully charged and I tried with the power cord plugged in.....
i`m new herenot to the laptop world i been upgrading laptops for over 3 years now so i`m no rookie but i always like to ask and rethink what i already know;
so now i just got this STUDIO 1535 its new but no box no warranty but i got it for real cheap dont ask
WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 64BIT T5800 2.0GHz AT 800MHz FSB INTEL MEDIA ACCELERATOR X3100 320GB 5,400RPM 4GIG DELL RAM
WC3 is running with average of 45 fps with the ATI HD 3540 GPU.
My other laptop has the same CPU, less ram but have GF 8600M GT and the game runs with 100 FPS. I was wondering why is that big difference between the two GPUs:
i got mine in july and then in september the screen suddenly just went blank and the whole laptop just died.
It wouldnt turn back on and so Dell replaced the motherboard. Laptop came back and worked fine. But then all of a sudden it kept cutting out randomly again but would switch back on.
But then on saturday it cut out and now wont turn back on again. So will have to be sent off again now!
Anyone heard of this problem before? Getting very anoyed by it
Also sometimes the speakers just wont work at all and the CD drive button stays on and keeps trying to eject a disc even if there isnt one in there!
