Dell Studio XPS 1645 :: Unable To Start Bluetooth Stack Service
Apr 29, 2010
I've got a Studio XPS 1645 running Windows 7 (64-bit) and my bluetooth radio won't detect any devices. Everytime I start my computer I get an error that says "Unable to start the bluetooth stack service". I've uninstalled every bluetooth device I could find in my device manager and reinstalled with the latest drivers from the Dell website, but nothing has changed. I called Dell support and was told that the problem was related to software (for which I do not have support coverage) and that I should do a Google search for a Toshiba patch that might fix the problem, but I couldn't find anything online.
I downloaded the blue tooth stack and installed it, when it runs it says it cannot communicate with the blue tooth chip and aborts. I have turned all the necessary things in system setup for the internal blue tooth device but it still does not work. Isn't there supposed to be a blue tooth indicator on my laptop somewhere that should be on, if so I do not see it.
So my studioxps 1640 was replaced with a 1645. I was glad I got an i7 and a 1GB video card upgrade due to many other issues with the 1640, but I'm having a terrible time with the 1645.
First off, when I first used the 1645 for 15 minutes, the fan turned on full blast. I was just using firefox, so I ignored it and thought the laptop was just getting broken-in. But the heat issue appeared regularly. If I don't turn off the laptop, the whole laptop shuts down to either a bluescreen or it just powers off. Sometimes a weird clicking/crackling noise will come from the fan area near the heatsink even when the fan isn't on! It's like a bunch of metal balls are falling down a pipe.
I've left the bottom cover open to check if the heat sink was dissipating heat, but for some reason the metal area on top of the i7 was burning hot but the copper "pipes" were actually cool/cold. I'm getting a heat sink and fan replacement and I'll let you know how that works.
Next issue: webcam. On the 1640, running the webcam at 640x480 produced no lag and smooth pictures, but the 1645 constantly jitters at 640x480. Is this is a common issue?
Lastly, the bluetooth card is giving me a terrible time. I have used windows 7 x64 on the 1640 and bluetooth gave me no problems, but on the 1645 it is horrendous. I've switched bluetooth cards between the laptops so it's not a hardware issue. However, I'm trying to connect a bluetooth mouse and the card will detect a mouse, but it will never connect to it. I've tried numerous other techniques I saw on other threads. I ran the driver utility in compatibility mode, I've installed windows mobile device center, I've even formatted the hard drive. any help?
I've been trying to connect a Moto G phone to use as a GPS in a Dell Insipron 5421 with windows 7 pro 64 bits, and although the phone is recongnized, it gives an error when configuring the services, so no service is available. I've found a diversion to solve the file transfer issue but still cannot find a SPP outgoing port for connecting the GPS service to the laptop, and still have to services that fail to load a driver. I've tried every version of the driver and the Pro/Set wireless solution inlcuding de 17.1 version (12/29/2014) but still doesn't work.
All of the sudden, bluetooth stopped working on my laptop.
I installed the Dell driver when I first got the computer and everything was going fine. I was listening to music through some blue-tooth headphones this morning, when suddenly they unpaired.
Now, the BT light is on on the front of the computer, but the icon disappeared from the task bar. I tried reinstalling the driver, but got hung up when it asked to turn on blue-tooth with wireless button. The button doesn't do anything for turning on/off bluetooth that I can tell.
So now I'm stuck.
In Device Manager, there is no bluetooth 370 card. But I do have errors in the USB category and the "other devices" category.
I just got my new system, and wanted to remove the crapware before creating my recovery disks. I did that, then ran the Sony utility to create the recovery disks. I did not install anything.
One thing I uninstalled was SQL Server. I have no need of it.
Building the recovery froze at various stages of completion... 44%, 27%, 21%. I got an alert with the error, "Failed to start database service". I finally caught that error right away and dismissed -- then the system finished building the recovery disks.
Great -- now I have to wonder, are the recovery disks even valid?
Also, what database service does the system want, and what process wants it? I now get this error at arbitrary times. Sometimes on startup. Usually whenever I do anything with install/remove programs. So is this some new Windows 7 enhancement to the registry? Have I created a time bomb in my system by deleting SQL Server? If Windows 7 needs this, why did it let me delete it?
So far I wish I had a DOS machine. It's unfortunate that my work requires me to use Windows -- the OS treats me badly, and I can't use my new machine until I can predict whether the initial setup is valid.
My Dell Studio 1555 won't start anymore. When I want to turn it on, I get a beeping signal (2 beeps) and nothing happens. I tried all possible troubleshooting tips from the dell website (disconnecting all power and hold power button, reconnect to power, checked battery with the button on the battery, all fine, can't get into bios because computer doesn't start at all) but nothing works. Recently I also checked if the motherboard is connected properly and there is no issue either.
I also purchased a new dell adapter because my old one was a little bit damaged. The adapter is like the old one, and it's originally dell and the correct one for the studio 1555 so it can't be the adapter. Laptop also doesn't start when the battery is not in and it's only connected to the power.
Does anyone have any idea why? Is this something affecting Dell globally or is it just UK/Europe in a mess?
I guess I could survive with just wireless G, but it seems ridiculous to be limited to that these days;
I guess I could also just order it and pick up an intel/dell Wireless N card for ~£25 and install it myself,
but again the question arises, why is it necessary? I assume some of you do have an 802.11n card of some description in your 1645/1747's have you seen any problems with it? .....
My HP G series laptop is unable to start-up as it  keeps saying 'Enter Administrator Password or Power On Password'.  There is a system disable 58949897. Â
does anyone have access to a Studio XPS Service Tag??? I'm trying to order a 4GB Stick of DDR3 RAM for my Alu-Macbook, and Dell require a Service Tag from me.
I'm university student and ntb is meant to be carried almost daily (16" is ok for me), it's mainly for multimedia oriented jobs, some programming in C and Mathematica, some photoshop or even premiere (occasionaly), A LOT of movie watching. I also want it to be futureproof and well-built.
Dell XPS 1645 meets most of my criteria, but there are few things I'm unsure about... 1) after reading a couple of reviews and many posts on this forum I'm really doubtful if RGB-LED is worth the extra money. I'm not doing colour sensitive job (however I do sometimes edit RAW images in PS), but i want things on the display to look natural, especially in FullHD movies... (and I'm occasional gamer too)
Those who had honor to work with RGB-LED: would you pay for it in my position???
And just to make sure I haven't overlooked something: biggest DISadvantages of RGB-LED are supposed to be: inaccurate colors, bigger power consumption and some heat produced; while advantages should be: 0,4" gain in size, wider gamut and (maybe) better brightness...
Do you know any more to be added?
2) I'm also considering usual Studio 17 with Core i7 720QM (almost the same config), because it should be cooler, it has numpad and place for additional hdd (I'd buy 80GB intel ssd 34nm for system while keeping stock 500GB for data, I think it's beatiful idea), but what I DISlike about studio 17 is: dimensions, weight, speakers and design (and maybe a bit worse overal built quality).
So which one do you think is better for me?
3) how does combined e-sata/usb work? Since I have a external e-sata drive I have to plug 2 cables at the moment: USB for power and e-sata... With this 2-in-1 port do I need only 1 special cable? Or is it meant to be either/or thing??? From the placement of combined e-sata/usb on the opposite side of ntb than other USBs I'd say that 1 cable should be enough,
I am looking to get a Studio XPS 16 soon, but can't quite decide on which model to get and had a few questions...
1) What is the battery life of the 1647 (i5) compared to the 1645 (i7) assuming they have the same specs. I've read that i5's should last longer, but I really couldn't find anything comparing the two for these systems.
2) When configuring the 1645 and 1647 side-by-side with the same specs. The 1647 is about the same price as the 1645, if not more (depending on which processor selected). I thought the i5's were supposed to be less expensive than the i7's. Since they are about the same price, would it be better to go with the i7? Any reason to choose the i5 over i7?
I noticed that the Studio 15 is pretty much the same as the Studio XPS 16 minus the RGBLED screen. I really don't know which to choose and really need some guidance from some expert people. Here's what I have in mind:
I'm about to order a Studio 15. It looks like the EPP exclusive one is easily the best deal, but I'm waiting to see if a 10% coupon comes out. I've seen older post where people mention usiing them. So I've got two questions:
I found a trojan that is attached to skype.exe. I have tried to start in safe mode pressing F8 on start up but I am not able to access safe mode start up. x201....3249-CTO....i7....4GB RAM....64-bit OS....Windows 7
Bluetooth not working on my new Inspiron 15 3521. System config - Windows 7 64bit.
I have updated driver from Dell support but still having same problem. It goes in searching mode and nothing further. Unable to detect the laptop from bluetooth device (phone).
I have recently bought the hp 15-d 103tx laptop and have installed windows 7, 64 bit in it. I have found all the required drivers for Windows 7 from the support website, except the Bluetooth drivers. I have my Wireless Adapter as below:Â Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter. I tried to install the driver for Qualcomm Atheros QCA 9000 Series Bluetooth 4.0 + HS drivers in my system, but I am still not able to use my bluetooth. I am not able to search other bluetooth devices, and I am not able to search my laptop from other bluetooth devices.
Without boring you with all the details I wanted to inform this community of the wonderfully painful experience I had with Customer Support when I ordered my studio 17.
First it was a month lead time on a custom build. This I can understand since I did order it at the beginning of the school year.
So on the day it was supposed to ship they called me and told me it wasn't shipping because the screen was back-ordered and they had no idea when I would get it .....
I recently bought the dos version of 15-r006tu and upgraded with pre bought windows 8.1 but am unable to install the inbuit bluetooth device that comes with the notebook. The device manager displays a PCi device in nor installed but I have installed all the drivers provided in the hp website. Downloaded the driver 8 times from the website (complete 88.5 mb) but the installation stops prematurely.
I just updated my G780 to Windows 8.1 this morning. Â every time I boot up the computer, I get an Error message stating" Dolby Advanced Audio - Unable to start the Dolby Audio driver. Â Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists. Â I have restrtaed the computer and I do not know where the driver is for this or where to install it. Computer is just over a month old.
I'd been having problems with the microphone not picking up voice well after upgrading to Windows 8.1. I went to Lenovo's website and downloaded IDT audio driver version 6.10.6490.0 for Windows 8.1 64bit. I ran the exectuable that was downloaded and now the Microphone works much better however now Dolby Advanced Audio is unable to start.  I get the following warning message everytime I start the laptop:  "Unable to start the Dolby Audio driver.  Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists."  Restarting has not worked.  Running the driver executable again did not correct the issue.  I found this solution on the support forums but it is unclear about what to uninstall in "Device Manager"[URL]..."Open Device Manager Uninstall the Audio Device Under Audio inputs and outputs"I have a Microphone, Speakers, and Stereo Mix listed under Audio Inputs and Outputs.
I just got my MBP yesterday and I noticed that my Documents and Downloads stacks do not look like folders, they look like PDF files. How do I get them to look like the normal folders?
My HP Probook 430 Stack on Welcome Screen, i run  HP PC hardware Diagnostics for hard disk i got this Failure ID  Smart Check : Passed Long DST: Failed  Failure ID: Q0BQ8C-000797-QFPJWK-61AA03 Product ID: F3k78PA#UUF
I am using HP Pavilion g6 2005ax laptop and I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. I am unable to detect any bluetooth device in my laptop and my laptop's bluetooth also is not detecting in any other device (Say in my cell). When I tried install Broadcom bluetooth 4.0 driver software it showing error "No bluetooth device was detected. Please make sure that your bluetooth device is plugged in properly in order to continue installation". In device manager everything is perfect, i mean no undetected hardware.
I can't get my Yoga to recognise any BT devices. I have driver version 1.3.639.3 dated 1/9/2012. I downloaded an update otwb33ww.exe version 3.757.754.082313 but when I install it, I get eventually get a dialog saying "Confirm that  Bluetooth is enabled on your system. Plug in your device and click 'OK'. I switch on my BT headphones, click OK and get a message saying "Reeltek Bluetooth is not installed on your system". Then have to restart and end up back with the old drivers.
Just noticed I can connect to my iPhone but still not my Plantronics headphones...
