As per my title my XPS will not load windows at all and i cannot figure out how to sort it, now i have tried the methods as featured on this thread [URL] .... crucially though the F12 key is dead so since i'm unable to get to the boot options . So how i can restore windows to it and just as importantly back up my files i have stored on my computer??
I don't know if this makes a difference at all but i do have a copy of windows on my external hard drive and i have a back up of my settings on a USB.
Product Name: G62 b90-ev Operating System: Windows 7
I get black screen after Windows loading, meanwhile everything else works (lights fans hard drive and sound). I tried several things i read on troubleshoot thread, memory diagnosis, hard drive diagnosis, remove and change place the rams, unplug ac and battery and keep the power button for 30secs pressed the plug ac without the battery but nothing. I also tried to use a monitor by hdmi cable but i get a blues creen when i try with the monitor. Also this is happening during a format so i cant even get through safe mode.
My laptop shows me a blank screen after the windows bar loading screen. It did an automatic test on my hard drive to fix files, but when I restarted, it still would keep doing this test. I've tried to use a Windows Vista Upgrade/Recovery, but there is no backup and it keeps giving me an error on all types of restoration. I have just tried the Hard Disk Self Test and it says that there is an error #1 - 04 Fail. From what I've read in the forums, I will likely have to replace the hard drive, but how to recover the files from the old drive and what kind of drive I need to replace.
Every time I start up my computer, it flashes the Dell logo loading screen, and then displays this message on a black screen:Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 083) Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation.

I ran the diagnostics but shows that everything is fine.
I tried hitting f8 to get into safe mode but again nothing.
it's been like a year when i bought my aspire 5920g and everything run fine.
It's been about one month that sometimes the computer hangs up at welcome screen or loading the taskbar( the icons are loaded but you cant press them) and the mouse pointer keeps spinning(like it's busy) and nothing happens and I cannot press anything. So i have to restart the pc manually and run a check disk, and every time the problem is solved (this is annoying). But these days the chkdsk command cannot resolve the problem. Today after welcome screen it hangs on black background and only the cursor can move. I restarted several time and it keeps freezing. So basically i cant start windows.
My laptop does not seem to be loading windows. I cannot sign on or access anything on my laptop. I have done a diagnostic test and the following errors come up:
Error code 0146 Msg error code 2000-0146 Msg hard drive 0 - self test log contains previous errors.
I'm trying to diagnose this model for a friend: Aspire 3100-1556
The screen is too dark to use. The brightness feature via the function key doesn't help. It does make an instantaneous brightness when pressing it, but it stays dark, doesn't hold more than a split second.
Windows XP IS loading; that much can be seen when looking hard enough. So this isn't an operating system issue. It's there, just can't see it well enough to use.
I have been told elsewhere that it could be the inverter, but as I am new to repairing laptops, I really need more info before asking my friend to spend money on one.
I have a Inspiron17R N7010 and when I turn it on the windows start up screen freezes up. I was going to do a system restore but don't know how since windows 7 never finishes loading.
Symptoms: Unable to load windows 8, unable to load windows repair, Unable to load windows 8 installer DVD, unable to boot into Linux, Unable to load Linux live CDs or USB sticks, unable to even use an MSdos boot USB.
Problem just appeared one day, one month out of my 1 year warranty so I began troubleshooting myself. After replacing the SSD, Motherboard, and unplugging every single cable, even disassembling the display and disconnecting the Windows button, Webcam, and touchscreen cables. Still I Could not get any OS to boot. On a whim I powered on the laptop them promptly disconnected the daughter board and sure enough my OS booted right away. Upon further inspection I learned that the Auto-rotate or rotate lock button had become stuck/damaged due to a fall or hard bump. I ripped off the button and ordered a new daughter board online and all is well now.
I just recieved my Aspire 8930. But Im having a problem.
While filling out the information for my operating system, it randomly decided to BSOD on me, loading the dump information then going to a black screen. Now when I turn it off and try to turn it on, the hard drive doesnt click on or even blink the little display, neither does the screen flicker on.
Got a new E5-571P-55TL yesterday and going through the setup process I got all the way to where it says downloading apps. It displayed a message that it was processing or I forget what it said exactly. Then the words went away after about an hour. I remember reading that it said it may do this, may have a blank screen and not to turn it off. I left it on all night and still have just a green screen this morning. I know my wifi is not the fastest and figured that's what it was. Came to work today and left it sitting on the counter, still on.
My compaq presario CQ71 notebook fires up, tells me it's loading window files then just hangs on a blue screen forever. I've tried every possible route via all F-key functions without any success, including factory re-set but still nothing.

I was customizing a T530 on the Lenovo website and I noticed the option to get a 16 GB mSSD drive put in the computer that would apparently make the computer a bit snappier with frequently used programs, but I thought it would be cool to load the entire W7 OS on there and really make it fly, while just using the HDD for storage. But unfortunately for me, there's alot of mixed answers about that on other forums, and there's not even a lot of results in the first place, so I decided to come here and figure it out. Anyway, my questions are,
1, Since it's supposedly doable, what's the difference in performance compared to when it first came out of the box?
2, How difficult is it?
3, Is all the time and energy even worth it? When I receive it, should I just leave it alone and let it do its own thing, or should I not get the mSSD option and instead just take out the HDD and put a big SSD in its place?
When I click 'Computer' in Win Explorer, Win Explorer starts to "load 'Computer'", as indicated by the tool tip on the cancel button (it says "Stop loading 'Computer'").
But why does this happen? What is there to "load"? If I click a drive letter the top contents of the drive are shown instantly, but not when I click 'Computer'. Also,
while loading the gray bar moves along the top of the window, but the HD lights do not flash any more than in ordinary use when not writing to the HDs. Furthermore, this "loading 'Computer'" gets slower the longer the progress...
I have this new program that I want to load on my E drive but its not working. When I click properties it says used space 585mb and free space 0 bytes.
Isnt it supposed to say that? lol I've never had a problem with the e drive b4 so I dont know whats wrong. Whenever I try to run the program it says access is denied.
I am having problems getting 3 drivers loaded on an E4300 in windows 7. The chipset drivers says "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
Just wondering if everyone else's slot loading drive vibrates the entire machine when in use as well? It's much more noticeable than my old laptop and Im worried the vibrations might damage the hard drive over the long term.
I've been expecting a problem recently; when I turn off/restart my Inspiron 7720 and I press F2 to load the BIOS, I notice the bar fills but it continues and loads windows normally. I tried updating the BIOS from A10 to the newest A12. If i press F12 for boot options it works fine, it's only when I press F2 for the BIOS.
Broadcom PXE ROM and it also said "Operating System not found"
ok i didnt panic. i tried to pop in the XP cd to reinstall windows. but to my surprise, the CD drive wasnt working! so i removed the CD drive and now i dont get any error except that i should restart the laptop.
so my question is: how do i reinstall XP without a CD drive?
i already have a 1GB USB drive lying around. i also have a IDE connector for my laptop HDD to connect to a working desktop with XP.
I have a problem in my inspiron mini 1012,it Hangs and wont pass BIOS loading.. i have tried to press f2 it can but it takes long time to pass and went in bios menu after any minutes its hangs again..and i tey to press f12 to use another boot option, but it can not pass...

My little brother has a laptop that has stopped loading the OS, and now It keeps restarting.
It is a HP Pavillion dv6000
Most likely a virus has crippled the MBR (Master Boot Record) That's what the original thought was.
Here is what I have already tried: -- Tried running HP recovery (nothing) -- Tried resetting to factory defaults. -- Tried loading and XP disc in to use the recovery program on that. (Laptop came with Vista I do not have a disc) ((After this is when it started to continuously restart))
I used to be able to enter the BIOS. Now I can not.
I am utterly lost right now.
I even took it into my A+ certification class, that is where we tried the above.
Can I copy windows 7 OS recovery disc onto a flash drive to transfer to my hp mini 210 1032cl? I don't own a usb DVD and really don't want to spend on something that I am only going to use once.
