View 14 RepliesI purchased a "slighty used" Dell Inspiron B130 2006 model laptop, which runs with windownsXP. Before I bought it, the guy told me it was "wireless" already and that I could go to any place like "starbucks" etc. and use the internet. Well, we met up at a local place that I knew would have wirless there, and once he arrived, he said that the wirless works, I just needed to go out and buy a card to go into it. Well this upset me bc as I understood it, I didnt need anything else(this is obveously my first laptop, which I paid $320 for). I have even tried hooking it up to my at home cable internet, and it doesnt work. On the laptop it says the Network Adapter is Broadcom and gives a location of PCI bus2, device 3, function 0. Ive tried playing with the network connections, and still dont know what I need for it. My friend came over with her laptop, and a whole bunch of my neighbors have wirless routers, bc her laptop worked everywhere in my house(she has wireless). I went to Target and bought a Lynksys Wireless G notebook adapter(bc it says it interoperates with wireless-B networks). Well I went through the software, and when it said to put the card in, I took the Dell plastic piece out and tried to put in the lynksys card...wouldnt fit. I took a flashlight and saw that the shape of my cardslot is like an "L". I went on the internet and found that I would need some sort of expresscard54 or 34, bc dell made this differant than other notebooks.
All in all, this Lynksys one wont work, Ive tried calling Best Buy and they put me on hold for like 30min.s then hung up on me, called dell, gave them the system code and they told me the laptop isnt under warranty anymore and they couldnt give me any info as to where it was bought or anything. Bottom line, I need to know how much more it will cost me to get this supposedly "wireless already" laptop to actually work.
Working on a dell Inspiron b130 laptop. The power is plugged in, and battery is in. The power will not turn on at all, no fan or CPU. The main power light comes on when button is pressed for a moment then goes off. The battery light flashes slowly. The power cord adapter has a light on it and that says its working. I have tried taking the battery out and that does nothing.
I had assumed since its an older laptop that maybe the power was so drained that it needed it to be charged a little to have enough power to turn on. But it's been awhile an nothing yet. Is it trashed? We do have another hard drive around to try would that matter at all?
Just opened my girlfriend's laptop, and saw that it had:
CD/DVD Drive TSL462 ver. C
PC2 4200S 4-4-4-12 latency RAM 1 512 MB stick
Dell P/N 0C9063 WiFi Card
I was wondering if someone could give me a link to updated drivers/firmware for the DVD drive and the Wifi Card. I already updated the Intel Chipset from the Intel website.
Also, what is the best kind of RAM it will accept? I was thinking two 1GB sticks of pc2-5300, but I don't know if it'll accept that much? It is Dual channel memory, but it's only using one channel right now obviously. Any help is appreciated, as I need to get her computer in working order by Friday.
I have a Inspiron 6400 laptop which has a tru life screen, but it's the shiny type that is more of a mirror than a monitor
I've just upgraded to a latitude 6500 and the wife is having mine but hates the screen, so I need to get a matt finish one..... I guess cheapest place is eBay???
I also want the new screen tosupport a higher resolution, would this mean I need a new gfx card, as I'm sure it uses a intel one built into mobo ....
Whenever I unplug my laptop from external power, the screen considerably dims and the taskbar turns white over it's usual blueish black. I've gone into the power settings and changed them so that brightness is 100% when unplugged, but to no avail. According to my computer it's at maximum brightness when unplugged but it's obviously not. Trying to increase the brightness by the sun key or pressing Fn up doesn't work either. Tried to go into BIOS via F2 but couldn't find a video or brightness option.

This computer has Windows 8 and when I type in my password in the box I suspect is the login screen, it just comes up with more symbols.
Can't get into computer. Computer is covered in symbols and gibberish. Is there a way to factory reset this computer without actually being able to get in? Or should I just send it back?
My Dell Inspiron 17R laptop boots normally. I can use it for some time, until the entire screen turns green. I still see the mouse cursor and I can move it around. Ctrl alt delete doesn't work. The only way to shut it down is hard restart.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron E1505 will not complete it's boot. It comes up with this error:
PBR 1...done
[XLDR] ATA error
F11 shows no recovery, diagnostic test shows no error. Tried F12, checked F2. I am not that tech savvy but can get around to any instructions giving to rectify my issue. I don't have a boot disk, never can with the laptop.
Have Inspiron 3520 with W8 - daughter has infected it via Minecraft update. Original issue was dark screen and beeping, 8 at a time. Put on a external monitor and am going through the long process of digging out the bugs with anti-virus and malware removal programs.
Question is this - how can I stop the infernal beeping? It starts up if I insert the power cord or disconnect/connect the external monitor. Is there any way to silence it?
Laptop show black screen when switched on but there's no problem when connected to secondary display monitor. Can still hear the startup sound though. Before this the laptop beeps when charging but stop beeping when battery is inserted.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs soon as i power on the laptop (INSPIRON 1300), the screen blinks and goes blank.
On several attempts of troubleshooting, nothing resolved.
On pressing Function+CRT/LCD, the screen is white and no other signs.
there are no beep sounds heard during the start-up process and no logos appear.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI turned on my computer today and the Resuming Windows notice came up followed by Dell logo which I clicked on and the screen went blank. Have tried obvious things like disconnecting from mains power and switching back on with no joy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop will not boot up, just get the 7 beeps and a black screen. I have done research on this issue and it seems to be an ongoing problem with this laptop. If this is the case, this should be taken care of by Dell.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell 1525 laptop which will not boot beyond the Dell logo, I get a black screen with a white cursor. I tried to use the last known good configuration and it started out fine but I got the black screen again. I can't go into the safe mode, it only goes as far as loading the files. I tried booting from the cd to do a repair but that options says there are no problems. I attached an external monitor and I get the same black screen with the white cursor. I am running Vista Home as my operating system.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTried (and sometimes successful) to connect HDTV to laptop, Inspiron 5720. Now laptop screen does not display (goes black) without an external monitor physically attached. Tried using Projects and clicking on single laptop display, but if I disconnect the external monitor, the laptop screen just goes black. Not very portable if I have to lug around a second display.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 week old Inspiron 7535 and I am having issue with the monitor. I have the latest BIOS (7535A10) and latest Intel HD 4400 drivers installed.
Firstly, I had the "flickering and automatic dimming/brightening of screen" issue that is widely spoken about with this laptop.
I resolved that issue by doing the following:
Open Intel HD Graphics Control Panel
Select Power
Clicked downward arrow in top left of window and select On Battery
Disabled Panel-Refresh
Disabled Extended Battery Life for Gaming
Disabled Power Saving Technology
Apply
Okay, that was that fixed...
However, I am seeing another issue that I am beginning to believe is the display hardware itself.
There are horizontal waves/ripples moving downwards (on 60hz) that are only visible on darker backgrounds when the brightness is not set to maximum or minimum.
I have tried the following to no avail:
Ran Dell's diagnostic software, all passed
Held "D" when booting, solid colors looked fine because it displays them on full brightness (This issue only occurs between minimum and maximum brightness).
Uninstalled Intel HD Graphics 4400 software and re-installed with latest version. Still present.
Version: 10.18.10.2960
Checked if the ripples/waves were still present when in BIOS. They are.
Re-installed BIOS from DELL's downloaded driver. Still present.
Changed from 60hz to 40hz. Still present (Although horizontal waves/ripples seemed to move upwards instead).
I am running out of options here. I have heard that this could be caused by a loose connection of the monitor to the motherboard, however, if I open up the laptop to check this conncetion, will that void the warrenty?
For initial flickering issues I resolved above (Definite software issue), try opening paint and filling the screen with the dark-grey color, that is the best way to see these horizontal ripples/waves. (They are a little more visible on 60Hz)?
Inspiron 15R SE 7520..When I attempt to start my laptop it goes to the Dell logo screen and will not boot Windows 8. I've had the computer less than a month and if I have to restore the system completely it will not cause much of a problem.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI am currently using windows 8 as my OS. When I attempt to start my laptop the Dell logo flashes on the screen and the screen turns blank/black and sits there for a few min before displaying an empty bar and F12 Boot Options in the bottom right hand corner.
I have attempted to press F12 to try and load windows in safe mode but everything is frozen at this point.
Is there a way to determine if its a hardware issue or windows issue. When I searched for the issue I found some with a similar issue but the link provided for support was no longer valid
I fitted a new LCD panel to an Inspiron 3520. Upon boot, it showed the Dell logo, then went all white and then displayed a grid made up of RGB pixels across the screen. I checked the panel was connected properly and the tried to reboot but now the screen doesn't power up at all. The laptop also now plays 4 beeps while trying to boot. I've tried connecting an external monitor, but it also does not display anything an plays the 4 beeps.

I here my laptop running but it looks like my screen just stopped working. I wasnt sure what it was so I bought a new battery to see if that was the problem and the screen still does not come on. I had this laptop for about 3 years and thought it was the battery or charger and its not.

when i first got this laptop i noticed that the screen was distorted and there was red lines everywhere and the screen was shaking abit. so i contacted dell and they sent me a repair guy to fix it. he fixed it in about 15min by pulling apart the laptop and replugging in the screen. but now its happening again. so i think the thing that plugs in is loose or somethin. so what do u think i should do out of the following options.
1. open it myself and replug it (im a noob and will try remember best what he did)
2. get techinician to come in again (bothersome as i have school)
3. ask dell for a replacement laptop.
im using m1530
I just bought a brand new Sony Vaio VPCF11M1E and I have the following problem:
Because in normal stand the screen is very small, I enlarged it to x150%. Everything becomes bigger, but the following parts are blurry and absolutely not sharp:
-Pop ups, of programs and of windows itself (like advanced settings of something and then a new windows pops up, that one is then totally blurry; you can read it, but it is not the good resolution)
-Google chrome (and with that, all the internet pages)
-The google chrome on the desktop is also very blurry, while all the others, are still sharp (after the enlargement by 150%)
I have tried everything (32 bits colours is on, cleartype is on). I also did a system restore to the first days I bought the laptop and then it was on 100% so the resolution was excellent, but then I put it on 150% and again, the parts I mentioned above, were blurry.
i broke my lcd screen a few days ago and i got a replacement from ebay. i installed it but i can see the image on my screen but it is verrry dim. there's no back light. so i put the old screen and turned it on and the back light is very bright but the lcd is cracked and messed up. i don't understand how could that be that the new screen is dim and the old one still is bright but messed up.
the model of the laptop is hp dv6605us
Just bought the 3521 Inspiron touch screen. Two questions:Does the touch screen require a screen protector? Many different answers. Would like your opinion! The outside cover shows fingerprints (even with clean hands). Can the outside cover be replaced to a different color or type (that doesn't show fingerprints)?
