View 5 Replies View RelatedI have installed windows 7 64 bit and I have one problem. Acer arcade deluxe is telling me that my audio decoder is 2 channel and will not let me select 5.1. As a result, blu ray and movies play in 2 channel and they are the left 2 channels too, not very nice to listen to!
The weird thing is, in windows I get sound from all speakers!
Anyone know what I do? Or shall I just go back to vista until October?
Can someone with vista have a look at the arcade, go to settings and then about, it says the decoder there, does yours say 2 channel or 5.1? I am sure I was given the option to select 5.1 when I had vista but I have only had the laptop for a week or so.
i found the setting for sound by going control panel > sound>realtek hd
audio>properties>advanced
Question is do my soundcard have 24bit/192khz audio decoding capabilities ?
or , it is just a dummy setting in vista
if it has , i will not go for external card, coz it will giv little improvements !
What causes this and how can I fix it?

As I have a Dell Studio XPS 1640 it has a a few of Dell specific driver I must install or I wil not have certain features. I am not thinking dock here. Bios ,chipset, IDT Sc. Windows grabbed the latest driver for the Radeon 3670 but not the Catalyst SW. Nor would I want it to. Has anyone dl'd the latest Catalyst suite? Any fellow xps owners out there test driven Dell's drivers on Win 7 pro yet?
Got my studio xps 16 yesterday, love it but have an issue. In call of duty 4 i can only seem to get a limited number of resolutions even if i change the aspect ratio from 4:3, 16:9 etc. For example i have no resolution in between 1280*1024 and 1920*1080. Need a 1600*1200 option. Changing the aspect ratio in l4d gave me more options but this fix doesnt work in cod 4.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just reinstalled my laptop with Vista for the 2nd time since I purchased it.
Today had an endless BSOD of 0x0000000A and nothing I could do would get rid of it.
Everything tested out OK.
Anyway, after a fresh install and installing all the drivers I am left over with a 5880 in the device manager.
Hardware ID:
USBVID_0A5C&PID_5801&REV_0101
USBVID_0A5C&PID_5801
I can't seem to get rid of it. The best I could come up with was BT driver. I have installed the 370 driver twice. It working fine so I don't think it is that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an XPS 14z, which has been owned for a mere 10 months. And well, yesterday I went ahead and formatted and re-installed the Windows 7 64-bit Operating System. It seemed to install fine and booted to the desktop. I then had to leave the house to run some errands, so I shut the laptop down. When I came back, I went to turn on my laptop. The Dell screen popped up, but then right after appeared a black screen reading "Operating System Missing". And well, I have been at it trying to fix this issue all day long! I have already ran the diagnostic tests, and they all were passed. So far I have tried the following to no avail:
1.) Booted Windows Disc --> reinstalled Windows = Same Problem
2.) Booted Windows Disc --> "Repair Your Computer" --> "Command Prompt" --> after "X:Sources>" typed in "bootrec /FixMBR" and "bootrec /FixBoot" = Both said successful, restarted, only to run into same problem
3.) "Command Prompt" --> after "X:Sources>" typed in "chkdsk d: /f/r" = "failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50"
4.) "Command Prompt" --> after "X:Sources>" typed in "bootrec /rebuildbcd" = "Successfully scanned Windows installations. Total identified Windows installations: 0 The operation completed successfully."
My laptop had been acting funny in the last few weeks. In some cases it would give a quick blue screen then restart. In order to fix that, I attempted to do a system restore with the Dell Factory Image. However, I received the "Bootmgr is missing" upon the system rebooting. Are there any solutions out there that do not require a Windows 7 re-installation disk, I do not have one. If the solution does require a DVD, where can I order one. My laptop is only two years old, so I do not believe that the hard drive is dying.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is on an M6400 with Windows 7 64-bit. I installed dell's newest drivers for Windows 7 64-bit, and everything seems to be working fine, but I don't have the Bluetooth item in Control Panel. That becomes an issue if I turn the Bluetooth radio off from the tray icon, because if I do so, the tray icon is gone, and there's no easy way to turn the radio back on.
So, does anybody know how to fix this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have order an Latitude E4300 from the Dell UK Outlet page. Specs seemed to be perfect: SSD, mobile broadband and so on.
Now, that I have received the machine, the mobile broadband add-on is missing. Description said that it has "WWAN" and, because I was still unsure, I actually asked a representative who told me in a chat (lucky I saved this session) that this machine would definitely have mobile broadband.
There is also one piece of plastic missing at the joint of the display, but it doesn't really affect usability of the notebook. Well, I could live with this .....

Recently, I fixed my computer from a virus, and now whenever I turn on my laptop, it won't startup. I am most definitely certain that the startup program isn't on. What are all steps specifically as to activate the program, or download a new one, or whatever. I am using a Dell inspiron m5030 laptop.
