Dell :: Inspiron 1525 CPU Upgrade To T8300 ES

Mar 17, 2010

Some time ago I've bought Inspiron 1525 with T5250 CPU. It was performing well, except for any 3D gaming due to X3100 integrated video (the person who uses it doesn't play much, but still...).

So to make it handle at least simple games I've decided to upgrade CPU and purchased T8300 ES (QZOL) from eBay, this CPU is the same as normal T8300 but with twice as much cache. I would've purchased normal one, but it was cheaper from auction.

Yesterday I've installed it and I must say it works good, with a small utility I switched some games vertex processing to software and they're at least playable now .....

Dell :: Inspiron 1525 T2370 @1.73 GHz CPU Upgrade Advice

I've had a search through the forums and see quite a lot of posts discussing upgrading processors on the 1525, but I'm still unclear as to my options when it comes to upgrading the processor.

I use my 1525 (with 4Gb ram) for video editing a lot, and now I'm using HD, rendering is taking hours and hours, despite using another PC to assist via the network.

Dell Inspiron 1525 :: Upgrade To 3 G/bs Hard Drive

Feb 10, 2013

I would like to update the factory installed 160G Seagate HD to a larger WD750G.  The Seagate is a 1.5 G/bs drive and the WD is a SATA II 3 G/bs drive and I have read that first generations controllers might not read the new drive.  My Dell has a 0U990C motherboard with Pentium dual T3200 processor, BIOS A17 and an Intel GM965 chipset.

Will I be able to install this new drive without any problems?

Anyhow, according to the computer my battery is dead and needs to be replaced, but why the hell does the battery have such a crap life? or is it something else? This laptop has spent 90% of its life on the A/C charger

Dell :: Inspiron 1525 Won't Boot

Jan 10, 2010

My cousin has an Inspiron 1525 laptop which has had an issue of booting. Randomly one day she received the following message, "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive". It also said from below "Boot to CD by pressing any key" that the "BOOTMGR is not found".

I received the laptop in this state. I booted from the CD (Windows install disc) and was able to reinstall Vista. I then updated all the drivers and had everything working like a charm. I thought I had hit jackpot with an easy reformat. After about 4 hours of having it running perfectly, as I was installing Windows updates, I received the "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive" message. Now I cannot boot into Windows and booting from the CD no longer works.

Here are some of the specs:

T2390 Dual Core 1.86Ghz
2GB RAM
160GB SATA HDD

Is the hard drive dying? Is it the SATA controller? The motherboard? Anyone have any ideas or past experiences?

Dell :: 1525 Battery Won't Charge

Mar 10, 2010

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. The 6-cell battery that came with it stopped holding its charge, so I bought a new 9-cell battery. Now that one won't hold a charge. I figured it must be the cord, so I bought a new one. It still won't hold a charge. When I run my mouse over the battery icon, it says XX% (currently 37%) available (plugged in, not charging). I know just enough about computers to be dangerous, but not enough to figure out what is wrong. Can anyone help me trouble shoot?

Dell :: 1525 Replace Celeron CPU?

Apr 16, 2010

I found a Dell 1525 on craigslist, and it has a Celeron cpu. In the case that it is to slow for my liking, [I didn't buy it yet,] I was wondering how easy it was to replace the CPU with, for example, a Core™2 Duo Processor (i.e. T5450).

So, I googled Dell 1525 motherboard and came up with this. From the looks of that it does not look easy to replace. But on this topic, [scroll down] it says it takes 10 minutes to replace .........

Dell :: 1525 Lcd Screen Cracked

Jan 2, 2009

Our 1525 is 6 months old and my daughter opened the laptop at college to find the the LCD screeen had an internal crack just at the top middle directly underneath the webcam. The laptop was sitting on her desk and the previous evening was fine.

Dell is claiming that it was customer damaged and will not cover under the normal warranty. Unfortunatley I did not purchase the extended warranty.

I have read a number of similar internal crack issues with 1525's online and would like to know if it's possible to escalate this to someone at Dell who could approve the repair.

Dell :: Inspiron 1525 Won't Boot Up

Nov 3, 2009

I'm having a serious problem with my laptop right now and I'm fearing the worst: a bad motherboard, a problem which I have found to be pretty common with 1525 users through Google/forum searches.

Hopefully someone out there can relate and has a remedy that will save me money/time/hassles with my laptop, which by the way has been out of warranty for about 6 months.

I purchased the 1525 last April (2008) direct from Dell. Here are the vital specs: Inspiron 1525, Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, 1.83GHz, 667Mhz, 2ML2 Cache. I've never really had any problem with it until yesterday morning. I woke up and pressed the power button after allowing the system to hibernate the night before. The power LED lights up in the bottom left and the touch-sensitive media buttons flash from side-to-side like normal

Dell :: Inspiron 1525, 3rd Time For Warranty ...

Feb 17, 2010

So the hinges on this laptop have broken TWICE, requiring my girlfriend to send it in twice, and waiting for the laptop around a month each time. My Gf is last year of highschool and really needs her laptop for school work, and has no other computer.

The problem this time is, that apparently one of the sticks of ram has gone bad and gives a read/write error when the computer is booted up, and gives a bunch of errors when the on-board diagnostics are run. Warranty was extended until the end of this year, but I want Dell to send us a new laptop since she needs her laptop right now. Is there any way I can get her a new updated inspiron? Apparently hinges are a big issue with the 1525, and I can tell that her hinges are going to break in 2-3 months ...

Dell :: Inspiron 1525 For Casual Gamer?

Dec 18, 2008

I've been reading up a lot on the Inspiron 1525, and of course in most reviews I've heard the thing I've dreaded most to hear - 'NOT FOR GAMERS'. However, most of those reviews were for the 2gb RAM versions. Anyway, this leads me to my question.

I'm a teenage female, and I'm a CASUAL gamer. I'm sort of in between, because while I do enjoy some PC games, I'm definitely not hardcore enough to desire getting the XPS laptop instead. The games I would play are Left 4 Dead, Maple Story (which basically runs off of crap, I know XD), perhaps a little WoW, Sims 2, etc... I'm more of a console gamer, but I'd really feel kind of cheated if I didn't get a laptop that could provide me with decent PC game gameplay. So I was wondering, since most of those reviews that I read were for the 2gb default model, what if I got 4gigs of RAM instead?

Other things I would use this laptop for are creative writing, art (Photoshop), and basic stuff really. I just want this laptop to be well-rounded. One reason I'm sold on this laptop is a pathetic one - as I mentioned up there I am a female, meaning I am attracted to pretty things. I like the shape and style of the Inspiron 1525 laptop, and the fact that you can get different colors for the laptop itself. I want one to be pretty and colorful. =/
This may all sound really dumb when it's compiled like this, but I figured this would be the only way to get a general answer. Again, I think that 4 gigs might be a bit over-kill, but it's better to be safe than sorry, right?
