I have an Acer Aspire 5570z Notebook with built in, DVD/CD Burner Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A ATA Device Type: DVD/CD ROM Drives
My Cd/Dvd combo was working properly the other day, But now it doesn't read c.d's , only thing works in it now is DVD's.
The last thing i done before it went weird was burn a c.d on NTI Cd/Dvd Maker, and an error came up and said could not complete or something. When i open up my WMP to rip some songs, i notice it wasn't working. Everytime i put a c.d in, it make sounds of it spining, but not reading comes up. it says Please Enter A Disc. I tried almost everything, i cleaned the laser, i tried removing "upper and lower fliters" from the regedit thing, which wasn't there because i removed that once before when i had this problem.
I've been having this weird problem where my Fn+F5 combination (which toggles wireless on and off) has stopped working. I recently uninstalled, and then reinstalled, the lenovo driver for power management in windows 8 64, because I was having the same problem with putting the computer into sleep mode via Fn+F4 (I think by reinstalling the driver, it fixed the sleep mode problem but screwed up my "toggle wireless" ability via keyboard). If the power management driver was potentially the culprit for these two problems, and I reinstall it once again....
I've read that e-sata may or may not be powered depending on how the host is designed, does dell's e-sata/usb combo port self-power external 2.5" e-sata drives or do they need their adapters/usb cable used?
It comes with nVidia 7200 Go video card. Theoritically, nVidia video card could come with HDMI, but not always the case. So..how do I know if mine has one? I am actually looking for eSata port since I want to purchase an external HD for backup purpose.
when i try to connect any hp combo headset having same jack for headphone and mic both ..the laptop doesnt recognizes any sound being spoken into the mic. but i can hear songs in the headphone.
So the Yoga 2 Pro's single 1'8" audio interface is billed as a "combo" jack that functions both as a line-out (for headphones, speakers) and a line-in (for plugging in other audio devices to play through the computer's internal speakers). Well, this doesn't seem to be the case - I've tried ini vain to do this with a Line 6 guitar interface with no luck whatsoever. The Realtek Audio HD software shows the jack as performing two functions, but you cannot change what it's being used for - a difference from earlier versions of the Realtek software (apparently this was most easy to change in the Windows XP version).
How I can properly configure the combo jack to work as a line-in port, as was advertised when I bought the computer?
I now definetly think its drivers. Sound not working, mic not working.
i found out strange thing happened to my laptop. When i tried to play mp3, or any other file through wmp, vlc, itunes no sound was heard. when tried to play with wmp it showed up error i clciked web help but no useful info was found in there. when through vlc i just kept playing music (without sound) i tried updating drivers reinstalling to them that were shipped but no good. i have the warranty bought from the dell. i can/ but dont want to acces the mainboard so i wont loose my warranty. i now think it is a soft/drivers problem. in device manager it shows that everything is ok. tried so set the default audio device, microphone not working ***
i am using HP Pavilion G6 core i 3, my touch pad is working properly but the cursor lock option on touch pad is not working.when i double click on top left corner to lock the cursor nothing is happening..
My uncle bought a Aspire E1-572-6870 series notebook six months before for me from USA. After using 10 to 15 days I noticed the internal speaker is not working. But the headphone and/or microphone is working very fine. I went to a local laptop repairing shop for diagnosis. Unfortunately they were unable to find out the actual problem. They suggest me to change the speaker chip may result solve the problem. Before changing the chip I want to diagnose once more for accuracy about the problem. Any online check can be possible?
After upgrade to 8.1 HDMI port didn't work. Followed instructions to correct BIOS and graphice driver; HDMI works - however Silverlight no longer working with DMS.
Get error 6036 in Silverlight which is Graphics device's driver certificate is invalid
Have checked graphics driver and is all up to date
Machine is HP Pavilion 11 x2 Graphics driver version 10.18.10.3366
I have a timeline 4810T which has worked lovely since September, but now I have a weird problem with it: The keyboard won't work until the operating system is loaded. I can't access the bios (press the F2 key but nothing happens), neither select my OS on the Grub menu as the arrow keys doesn't work, all I can do is wait for the 10 seconds timer, then Ubuntu launches, then I can login without problems and all the keys work perfectly.
To give more details, maybe some keys do actually work before the os boot, because when I'm on the grub menu, some keys manage to stop the timer, but unfortunately I can't change the OS or accept the selection, then I have to reboot and wait for the timer to go back to 0 for itself and ubuntu loads.
I'm running the newest BIOS, updated some days ago but didn't had the problem since today.
After upgrading? from Vista to Windows 7, the FN no longer functions. I've tried reinstalling Quickset, that doesn't help. I've tried searching, but found no answers.
I havent used the wifi for a long time, but now I'm trying to set it up and it isnt working. The little light next to the power button doesnt even come on. Not sure which drivers to download from the Dell web page either. I just got the basic wifi card when I ordered (not the fancy Intel model) Any ideas on where to start? The wifi is activated in the BIOS.
I was just working on my laptop and all of a sudden it went off. Now when i am trying to turn it on it is not starting. I tried only on power, only battery and both.
But it is not working. And also when i am plugging my charger to charge my battery the LED for charging is not glowing.
The problem started about a week ago the computer use to just freeze on me like i would be doing work on it and it would just freeze mouse would not move at all. i would have to hold the power button to turn it off.
Then it started freezing will its starting up windows. and finally it does not even turn on anymore. i talked to the comp tech in my school he told me. it might be the motherboard.
If it is the motherboard can i upgrade the cpu also to more powerful one i have the 1.8ghz ?
Things that i have eliminated :
Plugged it to another screen ( didnt work) If it is the harddrive issue it would boot till it says harddrive error. video card i will boot in safe mode. its not starting at all. ram i unplugged the ram and pluged it back and still not booting.
I found one of my laptop usb port is not working. The left usb port is not working and the right one is working. Don't know which port represent which version (2.0/3.0). I found universal serial bus driver is not installed. I can not find the driver so request you to provide me the link. If the driver is R309557, I already downloaded it. My bios version is A05.
I have an XPS17 and recently noticed that the "customized by Dell" portion of the Windows Mobility Center no longer works. I was told the bottom info is somehow related to the Quickstart application. You can see in the picture below what it is supposed to look like on the left, and what mine looks like on the right. None of the "customized by Dell" functions work anymore.
i'd try everything ( Update usb drivers, update BIOS ... ) i did also the Dell PC Diagnostics, the result was that everything was working fine except when you have to plug something in every port to check if they detect something ... the first one (1.0) is detecting whit no problem ( grey if unplug ... blue if plug in) but the two other ones are already in "blue" but nothing is plug into it, and when i plug something, nothing happen !!
Having a problem with one of the USB ports on my XPS14z .. Port is the one adjacent to the HDMI port..
There is absolutely no signs of life from it at all, regardless of whether I connect USB 2 or 3 devices, usb drives etc. I've tried updating BIOS and CHIPSETS to absolutely no success.

and also checked device drivers are installed as per
[URL] ....
but again no success. It cannot be seen in device manager or when I ran a diagnostics suggesting the whole thing is dead.
I love my new laptop but it has a few issues that i need some help fixing:
1) Bluetooth not working (Yes there IS a module in my computer): I went into my bios and checked to make sure the option for bluetooth was checked. When my computer boots, the bluetooth LED comes on but as soon as it exits the BIOS and boots Windows 7 the LED turns off. I've looked for new drivers, and looked around other forums for a solution for this but have found no direct answer. EDIT: Solved. Download the driver here
2) Sound (I have The High Def Audio with SRS premium sound. IDT drivers)- When playing sound on my computer with the A01 bios version, and having the IDT audio drivers, I noticed a lot of weird things going on with the sound. It like bottomed out and had a lot of vibration or something. I dont know how to describe it but it was VERY distorted. Since then i've upgraded my BIOS to A05 and uninstalled my IDT audio drivers and let windows install its own high definition audio drivers. It seem a lot better but there is still some distortion there were it seems like the computer is just vibrating too much or something.. Is there a fix for this? I read in another thread that he had to take out the keyboard and adjust some of the screws that were messing with the speakers.
*Also when I plug in my headphones, i notice some scratching and weird sounds when im not playing any music. Its like I can hear the hardrive. However, the problem is inconsistent. Is there a way to fix this?
*Also are there some recommended settings for the SRS premium sound (if i solve this and get the sound working right)?
EDIT: Visit this thread to upgrade your BIOS to A05. It fixed this problem to me, and besides, its the latest BIOS version. It's currently not on the dell site (typical dell) Also Uninstall the IDT SRS Premium audio software an go to the Dell site and download just the IDT Driver. It fixed the clarity problem i was having too.
3) Wireless card- This must have been a A01 BIOS issue but since I upgraded to A05, it has been fixed. Basically when running uTorrent, the card would completely crash. It would make Firefox crash, and any other internet required app
Also it would be EXTREMELY helpful if someone would create a thread with all of the latest S-XPS 16 drivers (1640 and 1645). That way much time spent searching and troubleshooting can be avoided if we can just have a thread with all the drivers displayed in one location. Dell is horrendous when it comes to the latest drivers
Oh and here is my system build: Dell Studio XPS 1645 Windows 7 Home Premium Intel Core i7 720QM 6GB DDR3 at 1333MHz RGBLED screen AT 4670 - 1GB High Definition Audio with SRS Preium Sound Intell 5300 WLAN 3x3 DEll Wireless 370 bluetooth Module (2.1+EDR)
I replaced my Inspiron 9400 motherboard with M1710 XPS motherboard. The palmrest, lcd cover, hinge cover, front speakers,is M1710 parts. The only parts not XPS M1710 is the standard non led cpu and video fans which I borrowed from my Inspiron 9400.
The cpu and the video fan is borrowed from my I9400.Non LED.Could this be the cause?
My M1710 backcover,M1710 touchpad, and the front speakers do not light on.Eevn when the system is booting up in bios.
I already checked all connections and have the above all above
