I've recently bought a Asus 27" monitor capable of 2560x1440 resolution. My laptop couldn't go higher than 1920x1200 so i'm now looking for a laptop replacement. Will 8560w or other elitebooks with display port connectors do the job?

recently purchased an HP ENVY x360 - 15-u011dx Touch Laptop. Try to set up two external monitors using an HDMI splitter. I can "extend" the desktop, but both screens are showing the same image, which isn't what I want. Can i set up two external monitors with this laptop using a splitter (this was what I was told would work when I purchased the unit along with the two monitors.) Previous laptops had HDMI and VGA ports allowing for two monitors. This laptop (as well as most newer ones) no longer have a VGA port.

I have a T420 Thinkpad and have 2 external monitors connected; one using VGA into the docking station and one using DVI into the docking station. The laptop does not recognize the mobile PC display as an option when I attempt to extend to a 3rd monitor. The ultimate goal is 3 monitors extended: 2 external and 1 (the laptop display). Is this possible?

With this configuration if I have the 2 monitors running I can't get any picture on the laptop screen. I wanted to be able to use all 3 screens at the same time is this even possible, how to have all 3 screen working at the same time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP HDX18t w/ Windows 7 Home Premium and the Nvidia GeForce GT 130M video card. I'm trying to hook up a Dell 30" LCD monitor with a native resolution of 2560x1600 via the HDMI output using a HDMI to DVI cable. Doing so, the system will only allow the external Dell a max resolution of 1280x800 while the HDX screen stays at 1920x1080. The 1280x800 look really bad. I want to use its native resolution of 2560x1600 or atleast the 1920x1080. When I use VGA output, nothing shows up on 30" (blank black screen).
Using my 24" Dell, I can get 1920x1080 either via the VGA or HDMI (to DVI) fine. Based on my research it seems to be a limitation of the Nvidia GeForce GT 130M because it just doesn't allow that high a resolution (i.e. no dual-link DVI capabilitiy). Is this true? Or am doing something wrong?
Is there any solution in using a 30" monitor with the HP HDX18t? Will one of those Matrox DualHead2Go devices work to run the 30" and 24 inch monitor simultaneous at 1920x1200. I'll be fine with that. My wife is firm in using the 30" monitor we have. Is this a loss cause and I have to get another laptop that will support a 30" external monitor? If so, any advice on which one.
my resolution on my external monitor wont display correction when hook up with the XPS 1647.
The connection is HDMI. Resolution has been set to the highest recommend 1920x1080.
If you look at the picture below, the edges of the screen won't fill up the whole screen, making everything so small and hard to read. I already turn off the display on the laptop, making the monitor as my default screen.
On my previous XPS M1530, the Nvidia 8600GT can display the resolution correction.. I find it hard to believe that ATI card are not capable of doing that or there might be something wrong with my setting

I have recently bought ThinkPad E540 with OneLink Pro Dock, in which I have connected my LG Flatron IPS236 external display. LG's max resolution is Full HD 1920x1080, but for some reason my external display's max resolution is only 1280x1024. The display is attached to the OneLink Pro Dock's DVI port. I have both updated the graphic card's drivers and LG monitor's drivers and booted the system. I have also tried using both 75 hertz and 60 hertz refresh rates.

I am using an external 24 in (1920 x 1200 res.) monitor through VGA port.
The notebook has additional HDMI and DisplayPort.
I'd like to know if it is possible to connect a second external monitor. It would be 17 in (1280 x 1024) used as extended desktop, not mirrored. The monitor has DVI port as well as VGA.
If it is possible, which cable should I use? I assume DisplayPort might be better than HDMI. Is there a such cable that converts DisplayPort to DVI?

I recently bought an Aspire V7 582PG, put in a new SSD, and then installed Windows 8. The laptop works fine, except it can't detect external monitors (in Control Panel, I get "Didn't detect another display". I have tried with 2 monitors (different models) that are known to work, through both HDMI and VGA.
I thought it might be a driver issue. Device Manager > "Display adapters" shows "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" and "NVidia GEForce GT 750M". Both drivers are up to date. "Monitors" shows "Generic PnP monitor", which is also up to date.
I then went to [URL] ...... to download the driver for my model. The only one that looked relevant was:

But when I unzip and run it, the installer window closes within a few seconds; I think it crashes rather than installing properly.
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit to spending 4 or so hours with 4 Dell support fellows (3 chat/1 phone) fiddling with my Inspiron 8200 attempting to connect the Dimension 4600's 1901FP monitor...with no success. After (I've lost count) x number restarts/restores it's a wonder the 8200 seems to be back to where I/we started earlier today

1. I would still like to add an external 1600x1200 monitor to the 8200 notebook. The Dell people say it's a no go--maybe with a lower res monitor? The notebook is used by Marilyn (spouse) who does two things: writes a few notes and edits digital photos.
2. As for myself I'd like to exchange the 19" 1901FT for a bit larger (say 23-24" monitor with maybe a bit higher res (for photo editing work.) I have a T420 that I'm using with a Mini Dock Series 3 - 90W 433710U docking station. I'm trying to connect to two external monitors (both HP 1965's) using the DVI and VGA outputs on the docking station. From the VGA output, I'm running a VGA (M) to DVI (M) into my monitor. I can only get either the DVI or VGA outputted monitors to work by themselves, but not together. When I connect both external displays, it will switch off one of the external monitors (the first one connected). Both are verified working as external monitors with the T420, just not at the same time. When using the DVI output, I can get dual monitors to work using the ThinkPad display as one monitor and the DVI-connected external monitor as the second. Is there a way to connect to two external monitors from a T420 with a Mini Dock Series 3 - 90W 433710U docking station? Or do you a multi-monitor adapater, such as an Cirago HDX3DV01 to do that?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running a IBM Thinkpad W540 with a Lenovo Ultra Dock Docking Station 170 (Model 40A20170US). I have 3 Asus 23.6" LED HD Monitors (Model VN247HP). These monitors have a standard VGA connection and 2 HDMI ports, By default you are provided a VGA cable and a HDMI-DVI cable. When I plug these monitors into the Ultra Dock no signal is found(including the VGA).
When I plug into the direct VGA port on the laptop, the monitor gets signal. If I use a Mini-DP connection with a Mini-DP-DVI adapter I get signal just fine. If I plug my this monitor into my desktop under HDMI and DVI connections it works just fine.
I have gone into the bios and confirmed that under display the "Video Mode on Dock" is set to Advanced(I tried standard and it did not work any better). I have the latest video drivers for the Intel HD graphics driver (10.18.10.3412) and the NVIDIA Quadro K1100M (9.18.13.4052). The USB ports work just fine, as does the power cable for the docking station. I tried applying the latest firmware update but the program runs and nothing happens. I checked for any other drivers that might have resolve the issue but have not had any luck.
Am I able to run the laptop monitor, plus a VGA monitor, plus a HDMI monitor and a USB monitor all at the same time on a G60-513NR laptop? Laptop has all these ports available.

Well, technically it's 23.6''...But I noticed the resolution is 1920 x 1080, meaning it is 16:9. I know my MBP has a resolution of 1440x900 making it 16:10. I understand that most widescreen TV's use 16:9, however widescreen laptops use 16:10. Will connecting a 16:9 external monitor to my Macbook Pro have any problems?
