Jan 5, 2010My LCD is like this when it's opened less than 90 degrees.
My LCD is like this when it's opened greater than 90 degrees.
I'm forced to use this computer in awkward position since i can't open the lid greater than 90 degrees

Apr 15, 2009I have a Presario V2000.
After not using for about 1 week I turned it on so I could clean it from viruses.
Got the battery alert and then it shutdown meanwhile I was pluging the cord in (Targus AC cord with
blue light).
When I connected the AC to the power (not connected yet to the laptop) it "turned on" and still today
shows a blue light. But once I plug it to the laptop the blue light disappears after 3-5 seconds!
Not at the beginning nor the end of this process the laptop will turn on if I press the power button
for 'x' seconds. If I plug the cord, the computer doesn't show any "power light" and then the blue
light from the Targus AC fades off.................

Mar 16, 2009I have a compaq presario V2000 and am having screen problems. The problem is that the screen is not lighting up when switched on.
I have tried two different new inverters to no avail. With the new inverters, when the computer has been turned on the screen will be fine for 10/20 seconds then go off.
I dont think it is the backlight as when pressing the small lid switch the screen lights up but then soon goes back off. All the wired connections seem to be fine.

Jan 20, 2010Somehow my Synaptics Touchpad on my Compaq V2000 (Model 2402) got zapped today and will not power on at all. This is different than the usual driver problem that makes you think it is turned off. I was tightening up a screw that is close to the pad itself while it was running and the notebook suddenly just turned off. Everything is fine but the touchpad will not power on. It was getting pretty useless regardless. I have been using a regular usb mouse most of the time for almost a year now but still need the touchpad for the obvious. ANyone here replace their pad? I haven't found one used or new yet.

Nov 11, 2009A few months ago my audio started crackling and stopping altogether for milliseconds at a time. I have installed XP home on this machine twice and the audio was never quite up to snuff (sounds underwater, but rebooting cures it) but I've never had this kind of problem before. Tried reinstalling the Conexant driver but i still have the problem.

1) When my wife bought me this laptop back in 2005, it did not come with internal wireless, therefore no antennas behind the display. I see that the parts are on eBay for relatively cheap, so has anyone added Antennas behind their display? Or should I just get the antennas that stay in the base?
2) I just ordered a processor off eBay for $15 to upgrade from my Celeron M 1.4 GHz to Pentium M 1.6 GHz. I found the HP manual on how to replace the CPU, but I was wondering if there were any steps I could cut out? It has me removing the keyboard, key switch cover, and a lot of other things that don't seem necessary. Has anyone done this type of upgrade?

Dec 12, 2009Right now my Compaq V2000 laptop has two memory slots with 256 MB each for a total of 512 MB.
Can I just replace one slot with one 1 GB so I end up with a 1GB and a 256 MB? r would it be better to have both slots occupied by the same memory capacity?

Feb 20, 2010My windows package died on my hp nx6325 recently, and as I had purchased the machine secondhand, from a private seller now unavailable for comment or advice, I stripped the partition clean, then installed another windows xp build...
I have re-installed the drivers for the touchpad, graphics, broadcom wirelass card...but the audio drivers fail to install and give me sound, because they all get stuck at the end of the installation routine and present me with an error of
'unable to find HDA ausdio bus driver'
To remedy this problem, i read that I should install a separate HP driver called
sp26334. But when I try to install that, i am connected to the HP area online, and then told that as I do not have the same XP operating system that my laptop was originally sold with, that the installation process is now aborted.

Aug 19, 2009i just bought a fatal1ty headset and now im experiencing some minor problems with my sound. obviously the soundcard makes them since i installed the newest software and drivers for the headset.
until now i was using the driver i got from my notebook's download page by HP, version 5.10.1.5220 from 05.02.2008.
now i looked through the net and found quite a lot of these soundmax drivers, but im not sure which one to take..
i learned that the 6.### drivers are for vista, and the 5.10.02.### drivers are for xp x64. so i need a 5.10.1.#### one, preferably newer than 5220. now on the page i found them (www.versiontracker.com), there are quite a lot of these drivers (218 to be exact) and sorting them by the release date confuses me a bit, since the newest 5.10.1.#### driver is 5.10.1.5860, but a bit earlier 5.10.1.6110 was released. so which is the newest one?
and all are from 2008.. are there really no newer ones? on the official soundmax page there are none, even no support section.

HP Compaq 7900p Audio :: How To Change Audio Device To Default
Aug 26, 2014My computer is HP Compaq 7900p small. I bought new graphics card which is Asus AMD HD6450. When I test it I saw problem - no sound.
When I click on Sounds tab, I see that AMD HDMI Output-AMD High Definition Audio Device - not plugged in and I couldn't change it to default device. When I troubleshooted it, problem was that one or more audio devices isn't running.
I was searched in google for solution, and found it that I need to change in BIOS from DVI port to HDMI port, but in my comp BIOS version is 7.11 and I don't see where it would be changed.
Only what I did was that I swapped integrated audio to enabled then I get sound from my speakers, but AMD High Definition Audio Device still isn't plugged in. How to change it to default!

Oct 24, 2009i have a v3019us and it will not log into windows. It goes to login screen, enter password, then it says its loading settings but flashes straight to logging off and goes back to the login screen. it has xp home edition, and does the same thing in safe mode. tried restore disks but pc is telling me restore discs are for wrong model.
