HP/Compaq :: HP 8510p, MXM Upgrade -> Nvidia Quadro 770M, Blank Screen

Aug 24, 2009

I just received from ebay a nvidia Quadro 770M 512MB
Quote:

[url] or[url]

as an upgrade for my HP 8510p which currently has ATi HD2600 256MB.

Both cards are MXM II (physically fit) however I'm afraid that this VGA is not on whitelist so it's not going to work - I only get blank screen, no error message, no POST, no chance of entering BIOS. I read that there is some tool that can modify BIOS - something called HP Tattoo utility however maybe it's obsolete now and has been replaced by some other utility - I can't even download it anywhere.

Dell :: Quadro FX 770M With Geforce 9600 GT Drivers

Nov 5, 2008

I was wondering if it would be possible to install the drivers for the 9600 GT drivers on the FX 770M. If i'm correct the card is based on the same chip and i was curious if i'd be able to get a better game performance using those drivers.

Are there any real risks in installing the 9600 drivers?

Dell :: Precision M4300 Installed The NVIDIA Drivers For The NVidia Quadro FX 360M ...

Dec 29, 2008

I recently got a Dell Precision M4300 from a friend and had a few questions.

When i got the laptop, I reformatted the Laptop and Reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP2. I proceeded from Microsoft to Update to SP3 and so on.

Well I also Went to Dell's Website and downloaded all the necessary drivers (using the service tag) for this laptop and installed them.

Now here is where I ran into a problem,

When I installed the NVIDIA drivers for the NVidia Quadro FX 360M video card, everything seemed to go fine. Then I rebooted the Laptop, and now every time I reboot, my hardware acceleration is defaulted back to None, and it gives me multiple pop ups about this issue. I go into the settings and turn the Acceleration back to full and it goes away.

This is a major problem, and is really frustrating to deal with everytime the laptop is booted up.

My other problem, is when I open up Internet Explorer, It tends to lock up the browser for no reason when Loading a website. I then CTRL+ALT+DEL and attempt to close iexplore.exe via the task manager. It closes the browser but does not shut down the browser, making it impossible to browse, so then I have to reboot.

here are the specs of the PC, from the device manager and drivers I have gotten

Dell Precision M4300
NVidia Quadro FX 360M 512mb Video Graphics Card
TSST 8x dvd+-R burner
120GB Hard Drive
3.5GB of Ram
2.5GHZ T9300 Core 2 Duo Processor
1394 Port
2 USB ports
External Monitor Ports
Wifi Support
Bluetooth Support
Windows XP SP2 Pro

HP/Compaq :: 8510p Has Lost Screen Dimming/brightening Functions

Aug 15, 2009

I have an HP Compaq 8510p, T7300, running Windows XP Pro. In the last day or so I noticed that pressing the fn+Fx key combos to dim or brighten the screen are no longer working. Nor is the battery status key combo. Volume and mute seem fine. Wireless is fine. The "Info" and "Presentation" keys as well as the sleep combo all appear to be working as usual. But the 3 mentioned above have stopped working. Has anyone had this issue or have any idea what the problem might be?

Dell :: D630 And Nvidia Quadro NVS 135m

Apr 10, 2010

My laptop is a D630 with Windows Vista 32 which otherwise was working perfectly.

First the facts:

-Starting last week, my screen started to switch off without apparent reason requiring a hard reboot each time it happened since nothing else worked to bring it back to life.

-Then it started getting worse, one of the times I rebooted I got a split screen (two identical bad quality images one on top of the other) and the only way I managed to get out of it was to disable the nvidia driver (I had already tried to revert to the previous one and it was failing as well). Only problem with that is that playing video with the Nvidia disabled is a nightmare since the image slows down a lot and it's not synchronized with the sound.

-I tried to install the latest drivers from Dell (it seemed to be working then), and then I installed the latest ones from Nvidia and started having problems again.

-At some point during all this, my Windows lost the ability to suspend or hibernate.

-When I thought about restoring the system, it was already too late to go back to before the problem started, since all the available restoring points where more recent than that. (I know, slow reflexes on my part). I still tried to restore to when the new Dell drivers were working but the restoring failed (several times).

-Once or twice I managed to re-enable the driver and make it work for a few hours but the "screen turn off" eventually appears again.

Now the questions:

-Does anyone have a solution for this?

-Has it happened to anyone else? I searched D630 and Nvidia in the forums but all the threads I found were from 2008 and older.
-What's the next step, what should I do now?

-Would re-installing Windows be the only option, or it wouldn't help at all since I'd still have a driver problem?

HP/Compaq :: HP Tx1309au -- Screen Just Went Blank

May 20, 2009

I bought a tx1309au a little over a year ago; a couple of days ago I just noticed that it started to overheat alot. Then on Monday, when I turned it on, the screen was just black. It stayed that way for a whole 30mins and I had to turn it off. A few hours later I tried to use it again but still the same. My friend has a similar laptop and he theorizes that it must be the nvidia component at fault. Problem is, my warranty has just expired. Does anyone know how accurate his assessment is? And more importantly, how much it costs to have the nvidia replaced?

HP/Compaq :: HP Nc8430 (Resuming From Standby-Blank Screen)

Oct 2, 2009

I have Windows 7 RTM running on my nc8430 laptop. It has been working great. The only issue is a standby problem. If I put the computer to sleep via the FN-f3 combo it goes to sleep like it should and wakes up like it should. My power profile is set to put the computer to sleep after 10min of inactivity. If after 10min I let the computer go to sleep on its own, upon resuming it from standby I get a black screen. The computer is on and everything is working with sound, just no screen.

I am assuming it is a possible BIOS problem or video driver problem. I have the most recent of each and have tried different video driver versions but no fix.

HP/Compaq :: HP Pavilion DV6120US - Won't Start... Blank/black Screen When Turn On

Sep 14, 2009

I'm more of a desktop user but my husband gave me this laptop on January 2007. Since then, I think I only used it for less than 20 hours (we don't have a wireless)... when we got out of town.

The last time I used it, about a year ago, it turned off by itself. I tried to use it again when I got home but the screen is just blank whenever I turn it on. What could be the problem? I don't think it's a good idea to send it for repair to HP as the warranty expired already.

when I turn it on, all the blue lights turn on... but the screen won't therefore I can't use it. Ealier, I hooked up an external monitor but didn't work. Could it be an LCD problem?

The notebook doesn't have any scratch or whatsoever. It still looks like new, yet not working.

HP/Compaq :: 3000Machine Works Fine, Screen Shows Blank White Display

Jan 12, 2009

I have a Compaq 3000 Laptop, it's almost 2.4 Years old now, over the period of time I dint faced any issues with my Machine.it all started yesterday.

I was watching a movie on my Laptop yesterday, after sometime the screen froze up but the movie was playing as I was able to hear whats going in the movie.

Later I tried restarting the machine, what i get is the machine boots up properly, but the screen doesnt display anything thing, it shows up a blank white screen, sometime when the windows XP loading picture comes up the screen shows light distorted colors but again goes white blank.

I did approached a local vendor for that but he says that we need to replace on the motherboard, I was not much convinced over his explanation over the issue.

I would like to know your views on what might be the problem with my Machine.

I am going to try over connecting an external monitor and see if LCD is the problem, but I would like to know more what all possible options are there which might be affecting my machine and how much would it cost me in the worst possible case.

HP/Compaq :: Perplexing-with 8510p

Apr 19, 2009

I have this 8510p with the 1680x1050 screen. Its been a great computer, and have only had it for about 5 months.

All of a sudden one day weird characters fill the screen on boot up between the bios start up and windows start up. Basically the screen is filled with 8-10 characters then a space, repeated over and over again. Some of the characters randomly change. And now I have a dotted line of red pixels flashing on the top of my screen. the line is about 20 pixels high and about an inch from the top of the screen.

More weirdly is that the flashing is happening in time to any activity on the computer. I am a network engineer and have worked my way up through small computer support but I have never seen anything like this before.

So when the computer is totally inactive the screen is great.

Is the inventor in the screen going bad? Or is it my installation of vista 64?

I don't think its the windows installation because I can see some weird video characters before windows even starts up. I have tried to reinstall the video drivers and most of the other drivers with no effect.

HP/Compaq :: 8510p Hardware Upgrading

Jan 2, 2010

I'm using my 8510p. I was smart enough to buy an extended warranty, and it has proven to be quite usefull. (2 screen repairs and a new GPU.)

Now, over the time I have upgraded my notebook. The main HDD was upgraded with a 640GB drive, and I replaced my DVD/CD drive with a special bracket that allows you to install an extra Hard drive. Until so far, all these upgrades could easily be reversed for warranty purposes.

Now, I'm thinking about upgrading my original WSXGA+ screen with a WUXGA screen. (1680x1050 to 1920x1200) As since I'm using my computer a lot for graphical applications and CAD related stuff.

Now, I found a supplier that can supply me the screen, but he only recommends me to change my screen with something of the same resolution. He fears that the inverter may not be able to pull the higher resolution, nor my motherboard/gpu fail to recognize the new part.

Do you guy's think that this upgrade could be possible?

Personnaly I would go for it, since the 8510p was offered with a WUXGA screen, and the CCFL of the new screen would be exactly the same as the (current) WSXGA+ screen.

i use original ati (desktop) drivers by adding
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9581
to the cn_####.inf file of the driver (currently 9.2) and installing ccc afterwards.
this assures me best possible performance (eg. ca. 100-200 points higher 3dmark06 score than other people get with the same notebook) and no errors/problems until now.

now i have 2 questions..
first regarding hypermemory, which should be 512mb according to hp.
ccc, sysinfo, siw from gotpala.com etc. all say my hd2600 has 256mb. Internal DAC 400mhz. ccc says core clock 500mhz, memory clock 600mhz. i heard people saying ccc showing total possible memory (= dedicated AND hypermemory) as memory size on their notebooks........
