View 6 RepliesI'm going to clone and replace my c drive on my hp dv9500. it's a factory 100gb model.
looking to not break the bank and stay around $80 max and looking for a 200-320 gb hd drive.
I work this computer hard so the drive needs to be able to handle the stress.
any recommendations on a hard drive? what about cloning software that works via usb port?
Last night I was on my computer working on a graphic design project for school (was running Photoshop) when the screen went a weird purple color and then completely blank after a minute or so. The computer was still running, however, and pretty hard at that, so I shut it off. Since then, whenever I turn it on the screen shows up split into four, equal, horizontal parts.
If I do not touch anything, it will continue to show the Microsoft loading screen, but then shows a blue screen for a few seconds then reboots. Screen Pic
If I press Esc at the initial restart Screen Pic, it launches "Windows error recovery" and gives a choice between using 'Launch Start Up Repair' and 'Start Windows Normally' Screen Pic. It will not start up Windows (Vista), instead it reboots the computer and starts all over again. When I try Startup Repair Screen Pic, after a few minutes, it asks me if I want to restore my computer using System Restore. After about 10 minutes I get a message saying that it cannot repair the problem automatically.
i'm thinking about upgrading my HDD's now. I've got an itch for better and bigger SSDs. I was thinking of buying a pair of Intel 80GB G1 or G2, OCZ Vertex 60GB, or OCZ Agility 60GB SSD's and put them in Raid0 on the laptop.
Currently I have a crappy a$$(OCZ Core series V2) ssd and a 5400 rpm hdd in the laptop atm, but i was thinking of getting something much faster to go with my T8300 CPU doing RAID0 on a 5400 or 7200 rpm hdd is dumb because of the heat issues... but RAID0 with SSD's would be just AWESOME. I have never dose RAID0 on a laptop before so i was wondering if its even possible to do it on a HP DV9500 laptop? My roommate has the Gateway FX with that 1900X1200 screen and he has RAID0 on his hdd's from the factory, so i was wondering if its possible to do it on the DV9500?
I have a HP dv9543cl that was purchased at Costco sometime in late 2007. My nVidia 8600m GS in the laptop started to break down in the summer of last year by presenting symptoms such as system lock-ups, freezing, unable to boot the computer due to video problems, etc. Eventually, the video card finally died in March of this year.
So I recently sent it in to HP (apparantly I had a 2 year warranty on the laptop... something I didn't know. Heh.) I told them of the nVidia issues and etc. so they agreed to replace my motherboard.
I got my laptop sent back to me by HP today with a replaced motherboard and keyboard as a bonus I guess. Anyway... looking in GPU-Z, I notice something strange from the original specs of the nVidia 8600m GS. The GPU clock speed and the memory speed is lower than specified on the nVidia website.
Also, I'm wondering, with this replacement... will this video card die eventually also? Or has nVidia given HP a new 'batch' of chipsets to replace the broken ones?
Here's a pic of my GPU-Z:
Also, my nVidia card is running (idle) at 69C. Is this normal/not unusual operating temperature?
I got a Dv9500 although the lid says its a Pavillion DV9000 and I am dying for the ethernet driver and the OHCI Compliant IEEE 1395 host controller drivers.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLooking at one drive, in both areas area 1 is always significantly hotter than area 2's. A 15 C increase.
Is it possible to set a single harddrive in the 2nd HDD area (farther away from the CPU and GPU that are causing all the heat), with the 1st area empty?
I tried simply moving it from area 1 to area 2, and it said it couldn't find the OS. Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?
I was doing absolutely nothing and suddenly my screen started acting wierd. What would cause this? I think its not about drivers cuz the same thing happens during bios start up.

I have an HP Pavillion dv9500. It worked perfect up until about two months ago. One day I turned it on and the screen wouldn't show anything. The computer actually turns on and all of the keyboard lights turn on but the screen is blank. It seems like the backlight lights up because the screen turns into that light grayish color but it doesn't actually show a picture. I've hooked it up to my tv using an HDMI cable and I don't get a picture on the tv either.
I've read about people having the same issue with their HP pavillion and have tried numberous fixes from other forums online, but nothing has worked.
I just brought my friends Laptop home today, a HP dv9500. I happen to have the same one. Her's would not start i notice that when you plug the power adapter in the blue ring lights up, although the battery is not being charged. If i swap batteries it will run until that battery is dead. If i remove the battery while plugged in it will not start.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a HP DV9500 laptop with Vista. For the last 2 days I am encountering an issue where the Laptop would freeze 5 minutes after logging in. Then there is no HDD activity and the computer can only be shutdown by holding down the power button. I tried working with the "Safe Mode with Networking" option and this issues never comes up. I kept the system running for almost 5 hours in Safe mode still there was never an issue.
The Freezing only happens in the normal mode. If this was an Overheating/Hardware isssue then irrespective of the Mode the error should have occured is my thought. Overall the system was very fast even in the normal mode before this issue occured. I am also running coretemp software and the temperature is always around 35 Centigrade. Some times it goes up to 45s. But overall it never crossed 50. So i am not fully convinced it it is overheating issue.
The latptop is around 2 years old. Last year during the warranty period there was an motherboard issue and HP replaced my motherboard for free.
Would a system restore do any good if this is typically a hardware issue. I am unable to decide weather it is an hardware issue or a software issue.
I may have to replace my fan assembly for a dv9500. There are 2 different parts, one for discrete video system memory and one for UMA type memory. Any suggestions on how to determine the type I have? I have had no luck finding it in the device manager.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion dv9500 notebook and yesterday after more than two years of pretty much running smoothly it wouldn't boot. First it actually booted into windows but the whole desktop screen was frozen with mouse cursor. So I turned it off, turned it back on and it booted into blue screen and restarted itself. After couple of tries I booted into safe mode which was running fine.
I wasn't sure what the problem was but I was thinking it must be software related, so I loaded an image of my system which I've used before and knew was ok. But even after putting a brand new OS it was doing the same thing.
One time I was actually able to boot into normal mode so I thought maybe the issue got resolved magically. But, I have my external monitor plugged in and even when in normal mode the signal wouldn't go through, so I had to use my laptop monitor. I kept trying to switch the signal and even though it was showing the icon like it's transferring nothing happened. So I checked my video card properties and the card all of the sudden had no drivers and was basically unrecognized by the OS.
I am wondering which Processor to go with the P8700 or T9550. I have read up on the about the difference about the Watt and the Cache. I am wondering how big of a difference it is ....
View 7 Replies View Relatedis it a good idea to get a T9300 and overclock it to 2.6 GHz-2.8 GHz? The only difference (according to Intel's sheets) is the clock speed between T9300 and T9500.
I plan to buy a T9500/T9300 and put it in my Acer Aspire 6920G. Hopefully T9300 and OC.
I have an Aspire 6920G, and people on this forum recently recommended I get a T9500 as the processor upgrade with "the best" performance. I just want to confirm, before I make the purchase, that this processor is indeed the fastest 1 I can get for my laptop, and that my laptop can actually handle it (FSB, mobo, heat, etc.).
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy 6920G currently has a T9300 which is 2.5ghz on the 800MT/s FSB
Is the best CPU I can fit the T9500?
By my understanding, everything quicker than the T9500 has the 1066MT/s FSB and won't work? Is this correct?
Would you consider the performance increase from T9300 to T9500 worth the money and hassle?
what the performance difference is between the Intel Core i7-620M and the . Intel Core i7-820QM. I always thought the quad core 820QM was faster, but on the hp website the dual core 620M is more expensive.
Is the 620M faster? And is it faster for specific things only?
I want more cpu speed for running multiple virtual machines on my laptop. Also memory upgrade.
But the qwestion is:
Wil the Aspire 5920 be able to run with X9000 bios support?
I did hear that the T9500 should work, anyone allready done it?
several people here who have been able to upgrade their SZ's to x9000 processors. I want to do the same but I want to know if it is as simple as putting the processor inn or do you have to do some modding. I am also interested in upgrading to a x7900 or t9500. Basically the x9000 is my first choice, x7900 is second and t9500 is 3rd and I want your advice as to what to do, and will I need to do any modding to put these processor in my SZ670?

Battery life is not a major issue for me, and the extra $100 could be used specing up else where...
I have installed Intel X-25M SSD with Windows 7 Ultimate in my old dv9000 (CD, 1 Gb RAM), and it is quite a disaster. The laptop is getting hot, installing programs (Portal from Steam) results in 90 C on the processor and a shutdown...
I use RM CPU Clock to lower CPU multiplier from 13x to 6x (it works on my HDD and Windows XP, I don't have issues), but on SSD it won't help much.

Based on dannyres's thread and my other driver threads, I've decided to post the latest drivers that are compatible with the HP ENVY 15 premium series notebooks. It is part of my ongoing, informal commitment to help assist those who had performed clean installs on their HP notebooks. Please let me know if you find newer drivers or other devices so I can update this post!
NOTE: All of these drivers come from HP's website, Microsoft Update, and from other reputable websites (including other manufacturers). All of the drivers here are WHQL Certified or digitally signed drivers, available as of the date when this post was updated. These drivers should be compatible with the notebook series stated above, but I am not responsible for technical difficulties that can occur as a result of improper driver installation!
Following along the same lines as the other driver threads, the process of installing and updating drivers is for ADVANCED/EXPERIENCED users only. Average users can use the drivers located at the HP support portals -- they're the safest and simplest way to go in terms of drivers for your specific model. Some of these drivers may work with notebooks other than the stated brand and models, but this is NOT guaranteed. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK -- only install these drivers if you know how to revert the changes that you have made should any problems be encountered............
I am looking to buy a laptop and have zeroed in on these two:
[url]
[url]
They have everything in common except the processor.
2005ax has AMD Turion™ II M500 2.20GHz 1MB L2 cache
1308tx has ntel® Core™2 Duo T6600 2.20 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB
and the difference in their prices, here in India is Rs. 5000 i.e roughly $100.
I have never used an AMD powered PC. Are their any software or hardware compatibility issues with AMDs? Any reason why I should go with the Intel box?
HP recently added the QX9300 CPU to the list of processors for the HDX18T Notebook. My question is, will HP Include the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility with the notebook? The Intel XTU will allow you to overclock the QX9300 Extreme processor... it would be stupid to pay so much money for the cpu without being able to overclock it... Intel claims that the utility will ship with OEM systems?
