HP/Compaq :: Is There Any Power Manager Forlaptops

Feb 14, 2009

been using the IBM power manager. After changed to the hp dv7, I wonder is there any power manager that work like the IBM's?

Basically, I need a power manger that I can use t set thresholds for charging.

Whenever the power level drops to a certain percentage, the AC will start to charge the battery till the stop charging pecentage is reached..

Is there any, or can I use the IBM power manger on the hp laptop?

Lenovo T400 / T500 :: Power Manager Alerts That 65w AC Adapter Is Giving Not Enough Power

Oct 23, 2013

I have just installed an i7 2670Qm on my T420 today.The machine will crash pretty soon after booting up, with the screen having colorful vertical and horizontal lines before it restarts itself and give the memory error beeping pattern (1 beep-pause-3 beeps-3 beeps-pause-1 beep).So then I took out one RAM from the bottom, and the machine appears to work normally again, more or less.

In the OS (Win7 64), The power manager alerts me that the 65w AC adapter is giving not enough power, so the laptop is running on battery. I thought I just need a 90W AC brick so the laptop will work as it should, so I am arranging a 90w one to come in later. But on a second thought, if the battery cannot start the laptop with 8GB of RAM properly.

Is it the CPU or RAM or Mobo or something else? Where should I look?The machine works fine with the previous CPU i3-2310m and 8GB of RAM.The RAM modules I have are 2 x 4GB Samsung 2Rx8 PC3-12800S-11-11-F3.The BIOS version is updated to the latest 1.46.

Acer :: Aspir 5942g Power Management And Backup Manager

May 5, 2010

I have this acer with these two problems.

Firstly the power management button does not seem to work.

I have of course launch manager and power management programs installed.

When i press the button, it does light up green, but i have no indication on the screen like i have when i activate wlan or bluetooth.

When the drivers of the powersmart manager are uninstalled the button does not light up green when i press it, so it partially works.

Also, nothing changes in my power settings nor the screen brightens down, no sign that it works.

Actions i took so far:
I uninstalled and installed both programs, and i run them as admin.

I installed first the launch manager and then the power management.

Nothing changed.

I go to c: program files:acer:acer powersmart manager and try to open the right exe file which i think is ePowerMsg but then i get an error message saying that the element ePowerMsg stopped working.

The window is this:
Is this the right exe?
I tried with ac only, ac and battery, battery only, same results.

Lenovo T400 / T500 :: T430s Not Entering 30 Day Standby With Power Manager

Jun 21, 2010

I have a T430s with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit that is not entering 30 Day Standby like it should. The issue seems to lie with Power Manager.

Inside of Power Manager I have the 30 Day Standby option checked, just like I should, and it is also reflected in the BIOS setup as well. If I change the BIOS transition time for 30 Day Standby to "Immediately" and start Windows, but don't log in, and put the computer to sleep. It almost immediately wakes up and transitions into 30-day standby.

Now I know that Power Manager has a "hard coded" setting of 3 hours, regardless of the BIOS setting. So after 3 hours, Power Manager will automatically wake up the computer like it would to transfer to 30-day standby, but it just goes back to normal sleep.

Today while on battery, it did this twice (according to the Windows Event Log) Wake up, and go back to Sleep / Standby (S3). In the logs, the wake source is listed as "Unknown" when it goes back to sleep 10 or so seconds later is listed as "Application API".

Like I said, I was running on battery, and I also went into device manager and unchecked anything I could think of that would have an option of "Allow this device to wake the computer".  I also disabled the Wake-on-LAN option for the LAN card.  Plus I had all USB devices unplugged, as well as no Ethernet cable in the LAN port anyway.  Plus it does transition to the 30-Day standby if I force the computer to sleep at the login screen before Power Manager is loaded.

I just wanted to add I should have all driver / software updates as of Dec. 1 or so. I'm running Power Manager 6.63.1 and Power Management Driver 1.67.4.4.

HP/Compaq :: Who's Higher Than A CASE MANAGER

Feb 3, 2009

My case manager messed up the order on my SECOND 'replacement' notebook. She promised me upgrades across the board and messed up the order again, and forgot the screen res., fingerprint reader, extra battery, etc. So, now HP calls me and tells me that she was promoted and gave me a new case manager, Elric, who tells me there is nothing he can do and I can take it or leave it. Apparently he is one of 3 "executive" case managers and he says he is the top of the food chain.

Is there anyone else I can call to rectify this situation? Does anyone have a corporate # or something?

This has been a 6 week ordeal for me. Originally, I ordered a POS spec'd dv5t, but it came with a blown out speaker. So after hours with customer service, they gave me a case manager, Angelia, who promised me the world with upgrades and free accessories. Well, the replacement notebook she sent contained none of these upgrades. So i called her back and she said she would order a new replacement, but at that point they stopped customizing dv5t's, so she said she would order a dv7t for me. Well, she FINALLY got around to it, like 3 weeks later after having to call her constantly. We discussed the specs and I even sent her a screenshot of what I wanted so she wouldnt mess it up again. So what happens? She orders it with WXGA+ instead of WSXGA, no extra battery, no fingerprint reader, no hard drive upgrade, no tv tuner.. but she throws in a blu ray drive which i didnt even want! wow, seems like she wasnt even paying attention AGAIN. But now I cant even speak with her, as I'm sure she would some rectify this for me, as she was very cool. But this Elric guy is a complete bag.

HP/Compaq :: Windows 7 And Recovery Manager

Jul 11, 2009

I just bought a DV5se laptop and dv6t. Both have windows vista on it with the usual bloatware.(also as u know there is a system recovery partition which i wont touch)

I would like to install win7 rtm which is coming on monday.

Two reasons for doing this:

-Heard that 7 is faster than vista and
-to get rid of the bloatware.

I will do a clean install i.e Format c and install win7.

The question is when I turn on the computer(and when the hp logo comes) it says press esc for startup options. if u press esc there are a number of options like system information and system recovery. If i format c will these options be still there? specially the system recovery option.

Secondly is there any disadvantage in formating the preinstalled vista and clean installing Windows 7 RTM as vista was preinstalled by HP itself(in terms of being optimized etc, is there such a thing?)...

HP/Compaq :: Bootmgr Is Missing, Recovery Manager FAIL

Jul 5, 2009

what of an extensive issue on a dv2710us on Vista.

One of the crippling elements of this whole situation is this computers CD drive is not working. Windows was not recognizing a CD/DVD drive present, which is what I was trying to fix. So I accessed the recovery manager by pressing F11 on bootup to have Windows install all of the original files, but not format the C drive. Well it began formatting the C drive, and a progress bar showed up so I powered down the PC before it got past 0%. When I powered it back up, I get a "Bootmgr is missing" message and am unable to get past that.

After doing some research online, I accessed the recovery manager and opened Command, and did a Bootrec /fixboot, the operation completed and upon restarting, it booted straight to the recovery manager. I was no longer able to boot to the C drive. I did a little more research and opened up Command again, and used DISKPART to make the C drive active.

This time after rebooting the cmoputer, I am once again given the Bootmgr is missing message. Not only that, I am unable to press f11 to get to recovery manager anymore.

At this point, I mainly need to access the harddrive so I can backup some improtant files, and then do a full reformat of the C drive. I have a disc of Ubuntu I had the idea of loading up to access the C drive, however since the DVD drive is not recognizing discs I am unable to use it. I also downloaded a Vista recovery disc from here and placed it a USB stick drive. Upon booting up I can press f9 to select multi boot options. When the drive is inserted the options are Laptop harddrive, and USB diskette. The USB diskette option is not present when I have the stick drive removed. I select to boot from USB diskette and the computer proceeds with a black screen as if it may boot, but then returns to the initial boot up screen (where you can use F keys to access BIOS, etc.) and then got to Bootmgr is missing.

HP/Compaq :: New Laptop Dv5- Open The Disc Recovery Manager, And The Computer Suddenly Logs Off

Jan 29, 2009

i got my new dv5 last night and ive got a problem. The first time it happened was when i tried to make one of those back up DVD's, i open the disc recovery manager, and the computer suddenly logs off, and im reverted back to the welcome screen where i need to click my name to log back in. Every program that was running simply dissapears. I was like 'crap... i guess i cant make any back up discs'. But then it happened again when i tried to install WinRAR, it was corrupted becuase i copied the files from another computer and after i press ok in the error box it does the same thing.. 3 times i had to re-download a file i was downloading at that time. I guess it only happens when theres an error. I immediatly uninstalled norton and most of the bloatware so it cant be due to that. So now im paranoid about opening any file hoping that it wouldnt log off like that suddenly and lose my work.

HP/Compaq :: DV6000 Won't Power On

May 4, 2009

I had a friend bring me her HP DV6000 telling me it won't boot.

When the power switch is pressed, all the lights come on for about 4 seconds, then go off. The screen never initializes.

I have noticed that touching the pad near the on switch/speakers will have the same effect.

I popped the switch panel and it looks to be plugged in and all the wiring intact.

I borrowed a known good battery and charger and it makes no difference.

The existing battery and charger work fine in the other DV6000.

Is it possible I need a new switch or cable? or is the mainboard toast?

HP/Compaq :: More Dv6500t Power

Mar 4, 2009

Several weeks ago I replaced the power socket on my dv6500t because I had to pull the power cord in a certain directions. (see the thread here: dv6500 Power problem) For a few days it seemed to help although I moving the laptop in a few directions still cased the AC power to cut out.

Now after a bunch of weeks, it's back to where it was before. i.e. I have to pull the cord in basically one of two directions to get AC power. I'm assuming with these symptoms either the power socket on my laptop is screwed up again or there is something wrong with my power cord. Could it be anything else?

At this point, I feel like it's probably the power cord, but I don't want to pony up 150$ only to find out I'm wrong. I could send it into HP for them to fix it. It's a nice machine (core2 2.4ghz, 4 gb ram, etc)

HP/Compaq :: How Do I Access The Dc Power

Jan 18, 2009

I need to open up my hp dv4000 to see if the dc is loose. Before I go taking every screw out of this thing and removing things I may not have to remove, can anyone tell me the quickest way to access this?

Just as a background, the problem is that I need to rig up the power supply cable to that it's pulled taut in a certain way, just to power my computer. If it moves the slightest bit the computer shuts down. My battery won't charge either. My educated guess is that best case scenario, it's a loose connection. Worst case it's the motherboard.

HP/Compaq :: HP Zd7260us Will Not Power Up

Dec 28, 2009

it is old and not worth the time but my 5yr old daughter uses it to for music and school work. so its worth it to her.

zd7260us will not power on. I have bought a new AC Charger & Battery just to eliminate them.

when the laptop is plugged into the charger (w/o battery) the ac light comes on (not the battery charge light!). when the power button is pressed the the power indicator light comes on for 1 second then goes off and the laptop does not boot. I hear no sounds of any kind during this process

when i install the battery and try the above i achieve the same results no matter if the charger is plugged in first or vice versa.

Configurations Attempted - all with no luck
1. tried 1 ram module at a time, different sockets, no modules
2. no hdd
3. no dvd writer
4. no wifi
5. disconnected touchpad
6. cpu removed

i also checked the resistance at the dc jack - all checked ok.

obviously i have taken a apart the lappy and found/seen no obvious visual problems. the DC jack looked to have good connections and was not loose in any way.

I immediately check the power brick and it's power light was on. Then I swithched to batter and stll nothing would come on. It's as if no power is gettng to the laptop.

I remember a similar thing happened when my hard drive connector failed, so I swapped them out, but changing that had no effect.

what I'm failed to check or what could be wrong before I have to pack it up and send it back to HP?

HP/Compaq :: Power Handling Ondv5

Apr 19, 2009

I own a HP DV5-1025el laptop with Turion Ultra ZM-80 processor and Windows Vista 32 bit, running at 2.1 Ghz. The laptop is working wonderfully and I have no stability problem at all.

Since I love to optimize my machines at maximum, I started to search some informations about Power States and such similar things, mostly to tweak and reduce battery cpu usage. I made by myself an utility to control CPU Voltage for each pstate, like PumaStateCtrl, but more flexible. It's in an early stage, but it seems to work good for ZM processors,

I studied the official AMD datasheets about Turion and Turion Ultra (mainly ZM and RM series) processors and found that they have 3 active PStates (actually they have 8 pstates, 3 are activated and 5 are not). My ZM-80 has these pstates:

PState 0 - 2100 Mhz, 1.100 volt - Enabled
PState 1 - 1050 Mhz, 0.950 volt - Enabled
PState 2 - 525 Mhz, 0.800 volt -Enabled

Then there are other pstates from 3 to 7, but are disabled:
PState 3 - 1050 Mhz, 0.950 volt - Disabled
PState 4 - 800 Mhz, 1.550 volt - Disabled
PState 5 - 800 Mhz, 1.550 volt - Disabled
PState 6 - 1050 Mhz, 1.200 volt -Disabled
PState 7 - 1050 Mhz, 1.200 volt - Disabled...........
