Does anyone here use the program fan6000 to tweak their HP laptop fan-settings?
I have been looking all over but cant find it, and I use to have it but I must have erased it somehow?
I'm just wondering what you guys have set up for tweaks in Crysis and I'd love some help optimizing my copy. I'm playing under Vista with the 1.1 patch and would enjoy getting a few extra frames/options enabled without the high performance cost.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI did this because I want to play Blu-Ray films AND have a decent selection of 16:9 resolutions - The Nvidia ones (with the modded inf) cause Acer Arcade not to play (gives an error about incorrect driver installed) and the official Acer ones only give you 2 actual 16:9 resolutions. Bear in mind this is mainly for my gaming as not everything will run at 1920x1080 but I don't want to go as low as 1366x768 but it's fixed a wierd problem with my TV where the HDMI 720p output was bigger than the TV screen (which is 720p but doesnt have any over/underscan ability?).
****This should be regarded as a "hack" to the drivers and as such I take no responsibilty for anything that happens if you try this - I am providing the details in case others have the problems above........

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new battery (90 Whr) for my Dell Inspiron N5010 as the original one had reached the end of it's life. I put the new battery in, charged it fully, and when I turned my laptop on the window colors were changed to blue and when I go into the personalization screen it won't let me change back to the settings I had before. Also I used to be able to preview the windows I had open by hovering over the icon in the task bar now it just shows a blue bar with the page title and when I hover over it nothing happens. I hover over the right side of the task bar to show desktop and nothing happens. What I wan't to know is how come the battery changed all this and how do I get things back the way I had them?

View 5 Replies View Relatedwe all know the screens on the dv7's with nvidia cards come out of the box looking very washed out. i know the gammas are way too high. does anyone have IDEAL settings which make the screen look it's best? mine seem ok with the tweaks i've done, but the screen still looks so much worse than on my external lcd.
here are my settings:
brightness: 50
digital vibrance: 12
contrast: 57
gamma: 15
i know this is specifically a problem for the nvidia machines, as the dv5 i had for a short time looked fine out of the box with it's intel gma4500.

I have installed all the drivers mentioned in the thread and I dont have any "yellow" marks in the device manager...
The problem is With Vista there was a toolbar option that displayed "battery level", "charging status" and allowed to use the following settings
1)Power saver
2)HP recommended
3)High performance.............

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three user profiles in my Compaq Presario CQ-42, one is administrator and others are "Other User". When I fisrt saw the synaptics touch pad settings window through my first "Other User" profile 1, in Mouse Properties->Device Settings->Synaptics LuxPad V7.4->Settings, all the options in this window were available for selection and no one was diabled. Now when I go to "Administrator" Profile, Some of the options in this settings window are disabled and appear to be partly hidden. Like the option "Enable Pinch Zoom in Pinch Zoom section" and "Enable Pivot Rotate in Rotating" appears to be hidden/disabled.Â
For verifying this, I created the another "Other user" profile 2 but no success and I found the same problem here also. I also tried to unistall the synaptics driver several times from all the profiles but every time I re-installed them and checked to get the same result. The settings were only accessible for "Other User" Profile 1 each time and were disable for Administrator profile and "Other User" Profile 2. I can produce the snaps of same if required.

I am buying a new laptop and would like input on 32 bit or 64 bit os.
I am looking at buying the HP Pavilion dv4t, and can specify 32 bit or 64 bit os. I will use Vista Home Premium. I can upgrade RAM to 4 GB from 3 GB for $50.

Recently I've started to hear some odd sounds coming from my DV2. I've been hearing pops, clicks, clacks, something that sounds something is constantly being turned on and off, and a very faint sound that sounds almost like a fan, but is coming from more near the middle or right side of the laptop than where the fan is.
Just wondering how bad these sounds are, or if they're natural laptop sounds that for some reason I just never heard.
I have found a "fix" for my laptop's fans not going fast when needed (Putting in Stand-by/Sleep Mode and Waking it up), But is it normal to be having these temps at regular usage?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just ordered one and it should be here soon. I'm not using this laptop as a gaming machine because I have Xbox360 already doing the job for me. With that being said, I still don't want a crappy laptop that isn't stable (As far as graphics). I'm going to be using it for basically word processing, viewing movies, music editing, light video editing, and web browsing of course. I just need to know if it's a good machine, if anyone with the laptop care to let me know their experience, that was would be dope. If it's not any good I could just send it back for an exchange or get my money back. I paid around 625.00, that was with my student discount, but it came up to 700.00 before that.

View 7 Replies View RelatedOne thing that many people have noticed HP doing is "strangling" its mainstream laptops. For example: the drop of the 9600M GT in the dv5t right before discontinuing it, and no longer offering it on the special edition.
Many forum members also have said that HP seems to be steering people to the more expensive HDX series for gaming.
This consensus has been re-enforced by HP itself. You will notice in their online store that the category once called "Versatile Performance" is now "Everyday Computing." This is pretty transparent...
I've seen lots of posts about laptops that won't start but none with the exact same problem as me. When I press the power button it lights up and it sounds like it's going to turn on but nothing happens. There's nothing on the screen. It sounds like it used to if you closed the lid while it was on.

ignore that min, probably a glitch
atm the only real "load" i have running is firefox, digsby (IM client), and itunes. only real cpu usage (through task manager) is firefox. when i exit everything and have nothing running, it use to idle at around 70C but after undervolt i can get it to around 60C
anyway to connect my PS2 to my laptop display. Basically just using my display as a TV...

Can I just replace one slot with one 1 GB so I end up with a 1GB and a 256 MB? r would it be better to have both slots occupied by the same memory capacity?
