Oct 3, 2009what's the temperature of this laptop when under heavy load? (specifically during gaming)
is the cooling system of this laptop good enough to dissipate the heat it produces?

Nov 13, 2009i have ati hd4650 1gb gddr3 in this hp. should be 550 gpu clock and 667 memory clock. when i go to gpu-z graphic card tab it shows that values but when i go to the sensor tab it shows gpu core clock 220mhz and memory clock core 250 mhz.. it is on hp recommended power style. and interesting thing happens when i unplug it. memory clock core jumps to 396 mhz.. why is this so?
i checked power options and when its plugged in graphic should work for best performance.

Jan 7, 2015When i access the link mycomputer/manage/ device manager/ display adapter, the radeon card  is working properly. but when i right-clicking on desktop and click graphics properties, it getting error that no AMD graphics driver installed,or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. And the catalyst control center cannot be started.
I update driver and download last version this driver from amd site but not solved problem ....

Jul 24, 2014i recently purchased the above notebook and tried to play some games but i am getting error that my graphic card drivers are either not installed properly or they are missing altogether, i had installed drivers from AMD's autodetect driver tool. Earlier i had installed AMD drivers from windows update but the problem still exists. In the game i am getting memory insufficient error, unable to change graphics and display settings. Game crashes giving me error message as to update my AMD graphic drivers.

I tried changing settings through BIOS setup, but no such (Advance/Display)setting were available? I tried setting the app to high performance too through 'Configue Switchable Graphics' option but no success. which drivers i need to install or what i need to do to work my AMD Radeon Card.

Feb 20, 2010So at first I was confused but now I understand. First official, completely top to bottom support for all mobility cards (in the specified range of course) will come out with 10.3. What they didn't say that SOME mobility cards will be already supported with 10.2 and our " Dell (Studio XPS 16 Mobility Radeon HD 4670)" is on that list.
This was posted in another thread, but this wasn't the focus. They also have beta 10.3s...but I thought it was neat that official 10.2 WHQL certified drivers supported our card ....

Jul 22, 2009I just got my dv6-1131ea, one of the reasons was so I could have better gaming ability with the Radeon card, now I'm playing the Sims 3 and all I get is the following message when I start it up:
"We strongly recommend that you update your video driver"
Which is all well and good but I have the latest driver, there is nothing new on the HP site, or via HP Update, or Windows Update. If I try and install the latest catalyst package it tells me that I already have the most up to date driver.
The game is pretty choppy even at low settings, I have expected it to be much smoother than it actually has been, It's just not smooth and when I scroll around I get choppyness, I'm guessing it's to do with the video drivers but how the hell can I update them when I already have the latest?

HP/Compaq :: Mobility Radeon 4650 GPU Temp (DV7-2000)
Oct 10, 2009I've got HP dv7-2043cl laptop. I want to find out what max GPU temp do you guys get, when you put stress on the graphics card. I am interested only in DV7-2xxx series with Ati Mobility 4650. Mine is around 46-48 when idle. Temp goes up to 70-74 in around three minutes when I run the Fur Mark stability test (1600x900, MSAA 8x, post processing and xtreme burning turned on). Clocks are at stock frequencies.
I wouldn't care about the temperature (it is not actually that high), but I have a problem. The computer just turns off when I play some games. For instance, if I play Fallout 3 at ultra settings (1600x900, 8x msaa, hdr), the computer powers off after a couple of minutes. Same thing with Crysis Warhead at high setting (1280x720, no msaa), even Half-Life 2 at max settings! When I lower the resolution in Fallout 3 to 1280x720 and MSAA to 4x, everything seems to be fine. Same thing with Half-Life 2. No similar luck with Crysis though. Looks like Crysis utilizes every single bit out of the GPU in any case.

Jun 12, 2012I am running Win 8.1 x64 (up-to-date) on HP Pavilion 1322TX laptop. There are  Intel HD Graphics 3000 and ATM Radeon HD 7450M two graphic cards as the device manager window. Recently I am getting blue screens and later message appear saying the ATM driver stopped working. I found many problems with this driver in the past as well. When I check the relevent page for my laptop model, there is no update since 2012..
Can I update these two drivers seperately by getting updates from Intel and AMD sites?Â
Is there any update for catalyst control system (CCC) ?Â
When I try to update through the CCC or HP Support Assist, it is always no updates..

Feb 16, 2009The temperature of the processor goes up over 80'c when I do intensive things, like MP3 encoding or Half Life 2.
The CPU in my TX2 is a Turion X2 RM-72. So what I am wondering, is what is the thermal design of this processor? The processor in my Asus (Core 2 Duo) only hits about 60'C when under extreme load. Main thing I am asking is, is it safe to run the processor under such load? I mean the Turion X2.
It makes me very nervous to see such high temperatures, even when at idle its 47'C.
One thing that just came to mind, is the possibility of the location of the thermistor. I suppose if its located closer to the core it could read much higher, faster. Only thing I'm thinking about, is eventually the temperature should read higher anyway if that is the case. Over time the cooling system would gradually become warmer.
Anyway, all I'm wondering is is it safe? Idle temperature seems pretty normal to me, 47'c, but 80'c is quite high for load temperature.

Sep 3, 2009just got a DV6 with 4650 GPU. Usually I use HW monitor and the like but I notice HW monitor does not pick up the temp for the GPU. I have tried using the AMD tool and Speed fan, neither see the GPU, GPUz sees the GPU and gives me temperature information which as far as I can see is wrong (says that the GPU is only 42 degrees under full load and never changes from between 37-42 degrees). So does any one out there have a temperature monitoring utility that will WORK with an ATI 4650 and give some representation of what its temp is?

Jan 25, 2010my laptop, hp pavillion g60-120us has been slowing down and crashing lately, so i ran hd tune to check it's temperature and found out it's running at around 62c with several programs running - firefox with multiple tabs, majic jack, hd tune, and the usual security-antiivirus and spyware.
when i first turn the laptop on, it starts at around 40c and quickly goes up to the 60's within 20-30 minutes.
when i run a scan of antivirus or ultimate defrag it tops out at around 70c.
the hd tuner hits critical hard disk temperature at 55c and pop ups a message every few seconds.
i've also run speedfan, and it tells me the same temperature.
is it normal for a laptop to run a temperature in the high 60's...should i put it on a block of dry ice, or move to the north pole?

Aug 21, 2009I am using dv6570er for about year already, the problem is in core?acpi?gpu temperature; while typing this post speedfan shows temp1(acpi?)71*C; core0&core1 71*C; GPU 61*C.
About an hour ago i disassembled him, cleaned motherboard, fan etc... then assembled, i was really happy when see speedfan showing 51*C but this doesn't last too long when i switched power plan (was "power economy") in mobility center to "High performance" temp scaled to 60*C same when changed to "Balanced" (before disassembly notebook i was getting 90*C in three seconds after swithching to Balanced/High perfomance plan and 65*C in power economy). When i bought this laptop he was showing only 35*C, what can be the reason of so high temperature?

Jan 16, 2009I have seen my notebook (p/n GY394AV) reach 199F internal with the CPU's operating at 192F. This generally happens when I'm doing large-scale printing and dealing with large RAW images. But at idle times or when doing basic tasks such as Email and playing music It will run anywhere between 160-185F(Both CPU and internal). Is this normal? I am using Speed Fan and HWMonitor to get these numbers. I don't have any other programs running in the background.

Apr 15, 2009Is it me or does the left side of the wrist rest get hot? the remote in the slot also gets really hot. The average temp seems to be 38-46 C. Its like 81 when playing a game or so. Even though these numbers seem normal, does anyone feel its hotter than its supposed to be. I used HWMONITOR to see the temps. Im just worried if this heat can ruin the express slot remote. and does anyone else feel the warmth from the left side?
Also, is anyone's spacebar not that responsive when hitting it towards the farthest left or right? Its really annoying when you hit it but theres no space. Other laptops are perfectly normal but the hdx16 spacebar seems loose.
Lastly, everytime i turn off the dolby sound space expander, my fingerprint reader sounds like its buzzing when it accepts a fingerprint. Some songs crackle when it's turned on as well. Try it out, it will probably happen to you. Already tried reinstalling the audio drivers and problems still occurs.

Jul 22, 2009I bought a Dell XPS 16, with 2.53 GHz prossor and a 512 ATI HD3670 graphics card.
I partioned my hard disk and installed XP on one of the partition.
XP installed fine, updated fine from microsoft, validate to an original copy and everything fine, except for m graphics card part of it...
i downloaded the xp driver from ATI website amd tried to install it, but itjust wouldn't do it....i tired display only drivers, the full catlyst driver packk no use....
every single time i install it it gives me a error message "setup did not find a driver compatible with your currrent hardware or operating system, setup will exit now" .....
