Got Win 7 installed, all went well, boots and runs. Need drivers for Network, Chipset, USB, and some unknowns. Have tried the Intel HM87 Express drivers they didnt do much and the Intel ethernet drivers with same resuts. Win 7 is needed for some SMB SW compartibility issues.

I tried to downgrade my OS to Windows 7 Pro. I prefer in UEFI installation, so create a OS installation USB in UEFI mode in GPT partition and enabled legacy in BIOS. Then the installer is booting from the USB device and everything is going well till it reaches to the HDD partition window. I can't see my HDD on the installer window. I already have a HDD with 4 visible partition, C (OS), D (Data), E (Recovery) and 100 MB system in FAT 32. i want to format only my C, because D contains all my data backup. I tried to browse intel Storage driver, still it is not detecting my HDD.
I really want to switch back to Windows 7 Pro.
When I downgraded from win 8.1 to win 7 I noticed there were about 11 items with problems being displayed in Device Manager. These ranged form network and ethernet to PCI , USB and various others. NVIDIA indicated it could not load until the Intel stuff had loaded first. That wasn't in DM, it cropped up when I attempted to load some of the drivers manually.
I really don't want to guess at what's gone wrong here but could if have something to do with hardware set up for win 8 being used with win 7 drivers etc?
Would it be straight forward to clean install windows 7 on to my HP ENVY m6-1205sa? Will all the drivers be found easily and will all the HP software be easy to install like HP Advisor, fn key control, simple pass, cool sense, drive guard and the like?

I wanted to downgrade my new HP ENVY 15 TouchSmart 15-j023ea to Windows 7 because it's more familiar/usual to me, but unforunately I've noticed that my laptop does not appear in HP's driver list
Also, recent Envy 15 TouchSmart models do not have windows 7 drivers (At least this is what I've seen)

Everything is working great except the control keys don't work. When I hit the left ctrl, I get, [9- and the right ctrl, I get, l; I have searched and tried a few different drivers and have looked at some posts about downgrading to 7 and haven't seen anything on this issue. I have ran all windows updates and tried several different drivers. I put the old HD in with W8 and it works so it isn't a hardware issue. I originally looked at this post before doing the downgrade and it gave me the confidence to move forward with putting Win7 on. I have until Friday to take this back to the store if I can't get it working. I have also checked the region/language settings.

my questions can be summarized as follows:
(1) Would it theoretically be possible to put a PGA 988 version of i7-640LM into an Envy 15, and
(2) Is it easy to upgrade the HDD's for a couple standard 2.5" SSD's?)
From I understand, most people's complaints and bad reviews about the Envy 15's battery life and heat are about the older version with the HD4830, and the new version is a bit improved. That said, I can't say that I approve of a 1++ lb extra battery pack for a laptop to really be mobile, and I bet it still does get noticeably warm... Right?
So, I started thinking - the main benefits of this laptop for me would be the graphics card and USB 3.0... Maybe I can sacrifice some other factors to increase battery life and decrease heat.
I took a look at a list of i7 mobile CPU's and found the i7-640LM... And while this model is mainly available in BGA form, I correctly figured that Chinese eBay sellers might have an ES version in PGA 988. That's a 25W TDP, low voltage, dual-core CPU that would surely eat up a lot less power than a quad-core, 45W i7. I'm not sure if that CPU's memory controller would allow using four memory sticks, but I don't mind 2x4Gb... It's just another way of lowering the power usage, heat, and weight. So, question number 1: Would such a "downgrade" theoretically work? Would anything with hardware and/or BIOS prevent me from doing this? Considering that I'd want USB3, I guess I'd have to buy an i7 model from which to do the downgrade.
And secondly, are the HDD slots just standard 2.5" trays (and ~9mm thick or even thicker) and easily upgradeable? I haven't done the research, but I figured I might get a couple of SSD's that are especially low power... Though I bet just about any SSD's would be a better than HDD's.

It is part of my ongoing, informal commitment to help assist those who had performed clean installs on their HP notebooks. Please let me know if you find newer drivers or other devices so I can update this post!
NOTE: All of these drivers come from HP's website, Microsoft Update, and from other reputable websites (including other manufacturers). All of the drivers here are WHQL Certified or digitally signed drivers, available as of the date when this post was updated. These drivers should be compatible with the notebook series stated above, but I am not responsible for technical difficulties that can occur as a result of improper driver installation!

After a harddrive crash, a replacement of the faulty drive, and a reinstallation I am looking for drivers for my Envy dv6 7254eo for windows 7 or 8. On a general level, because there are a lot of them missing.
I have been looking on the support site at hp.com but can't seem to even find my system. View 1 Replies View RelatedThe thing is that my envy 17 1050ep, pn wp002ea#ab9 works fine with original operating system Win 7 home premium x64, but as i need to add it to a domain i´m trying to install win 7 pro/business or ultimate x64 but the hard disk is never detected when i attempt to install it.
Bios installed is the most recent from hp website. Inside bios is not present any option to change about sata driver it´s very limited.
Tried to download and install Intel® 5 Series Chipset and Intel® 3400 Series Chipset, doesn´t work issue persist.
With the original operating system installed Win 7 home premium, access sw setup, copy drivers folder, tried to install drivers, mainly the intel rapid storage, issue persist hard disk not detected.
Tested hard disk doesn´t have any error works fine with original operating system.
Tested a new hard drive, same issue.
Board chipset is intel hm 55.
HP Support drivers available on hp site don´t work.
HP Support just say unit is out of warranty and can´t provide support.
