I am thinking of upgrading my Pavilion's Memory and I have a couple questions:
1) What is the maximum amount of RAM that the Pavilion g7-2243us can have?
2) Where can I get bigger memory chips?
I have Lenovo-Y550 with P7450 CPU and 3GB DDR3. Now i want to install 64bit OS instead of shipped 32bit and to replace 1GB memory module with 4GB one. Does my notebook support such upgrade? PCI Device
SM Bus Controller
USB COntroller
USB Controller
I have searched the HP support section, but all that is offered are Windows 8 drivers. I have updated the BIOS to the most recent version, but still no work. I am sure there are drivers out there that work.
I have a Sony VGN-NR310E with Windows XP Pro on it. The maximum memory is supposed to be 2gb. But my son showed me tonight with a 2gb chip he had just ordered for his laptop, that my Vaio would recognize 3gb of memory. Windows showed 2.99 My question is, has anyone tried this? If so, will it recognize 4gb? I want to order some memory from new egg but I will wait until I hear from others that have exceeded listed memory limits on this model.

Basically I'm after something similar to what I've got with improvements (a little bigger would be fine but not too big - say 14" max) - good battery life, can have windows 8.1, a touch screen and can get an SSD (again happy to upgrade via crucial or other third party) and can support 16Gb of RAM.
I consider buying a new notebook and T420 is a hot candidate for me. I'm not sure yet whether I would go for a Core i5 or i7 processor, however I'm sure I'd like to upgrade the RAM in the future and 16 GB . I found out in the Intel specifications that (not only) the i5 2540 and i7 2640 that are available in the T420 configurations support up to 16 GB RAM, however in the T420 specifications concerning those processors I found that only 8 GB of RAM are supported. AFAIK the memory controller is integrated in the processor in these cases, so is there another factor that limits the size to 8 GB, or is it only an improper information in the T420 specs?

I'm running CPUID HWMonitor after just having bought a chill pad but I'm not sure if the "max temperature" values are being read from my machine or are just arbitrary.
Also, am I correct that you can't read the fan speed on this model with any kind of diagnostic or monitoring app?
I have tried every setting available on this laptop, from all set to default to trying multiple changes in all the settings. The volume is consistently low and has a very annoying reverb and echo effect, even with those settings turned off. I have only had it for a week, and I have been very pleased with everything else accept the audio. The reason for purchasing this model was for multi-media processing and so far I and becoming more disgusted daily with it. It is a Pavilion dv6 and it has the beat audio software.

To make things more confusing, some posts on notebookreview listed that exact URL as proof that the 1705 would use 4GB. So the Dell info was probably revised from 4GB to 2GB.

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy son spilled only a small amount of tea on the keyboard. knowing what could come out of it, I turned it off right away. After cleaning and drying for a few hours, i turned it on, and managed to a couple of times. The next day I tried to turn it on again, and as it was displaying Bios info, I saw one of the flat cables under the keyboard melt slightly. I turned it of right away. This cable is one of the two coming out of the panel over the keyboard, to be exact the left one, from the on/off button to the motherboard.
Bought the cable online, and still does not work. I CAN hear the computer turn on, the lights are all as usual, and boot and even go into windows, but I cant see anything on the screen. I have seen a really really dark and dim shadow of the boot, even the windows logo, but its almost invisible.
We currently purchased some T440 20B6-005BUS for our users and are applying our Windows 7 SP1 x64 Enterprise image to them through SCCM (and yes, ExpressCache gets installed). After imaging the first couple we noticed that at idle these laptops sit at 2-2.5GB RAM usage (4GB total in these machines). Thinking it may be something wrong with our image, I created a new gold image and applied it. However, the RAM usage is still very high.
To verify that it wasn't our image I started up another couple T440 out of the box with the Lenovo default image, and sure enough, it's also using 2-2.5GB at idle. It seems that some service(s) in svchost are using the most at idle (around 100-200MB).
I plan on installing Windows 8.1 Enterprise (fresh ISO) just to see if the T440 is just poorly configured for Windows 7, but I don't really expect Windows 8.1 to facilitate much. the T440 (especially 20B6-005BUS).

The 5400 is just the max speed it runs at, so it would be ok if it wast the 5300 like the stock hp has?
So i buy new laptop (hp pavilion 15-p153nm), in shop where i buy it it says that this laptop have two memory slots so i buy new 4gb ddr3 ram card and wanted to put it in free memory slot but when i opened laptop i couldnt find free slot only one...so my question is where is that second slot...i am using HP laptops and other products (printers etc.) for 10y and if this is some hp mistake and they didnt put second slot in this laptop i will be very disappointed.And yes i find manual for this laptop i opened this laptop by that manual and it have drawn two memory cards but its all it says about memory cards. i have HP pavilion g4 Notebook pc . After some time , i use my laptop it shows blue screen. When i run memory test from BIOS it shows this failure code. How can i diagnose it?
I cannot find a way to change it, I have tired autorun.inf tricks and even using winbubble to change the icon. But its wont change the little bugger.
Anyone know a way to change this, be it registry key changes, I dont really care what it takes, it just needs to go away.
