Aug 21, 2014
I have a notebook HP ProBook 4340s. I have my Windows 8 damaged a little and I can't to recover it. As I bought the Notebook with preinstalled Windows 8 pro (licensing). And accidentally I damaged some files of operating system - so now I can't to refresh or to retrieve my operating system... I tryed sfc/scannow and other things but all was no use.I have a possibility to upgrade my Notebook up to Windows 8.1 and I hope this will solve all my troubles with an operating system I have now. But! Installing windows 8.1 they want me delete HP ProtectTools Security.
HP ProBook 6570b windows 7 pro 64 bit..I cannot delete a picture I down loaded from a web site. I get a message saying " you need permission to delete this". I am the only user on my system so who do I have to get permission from.
My Laptop Dell Inspiron 15R , delete key not working. When I click on any file , The message comes for its deletion "Do you want to delete the item and move to recycle bi?". Continuously messages are coming for deletion. In text while typing, the text goes automatically deleted.
Im aware that you dont really need any antivirus etc for the MAC (for now anyway!), but how secure is the internet connection? Im new to the MAC and have always used PCs before.
I currently have a Netgear Rangemax router, which has been perfect from day 1. The router is set up with WPA-PSK security, with NAT etc enabled. Its always been fine with my PC.
Nevertheless, I regularly use Internet banking etc - will I still be safe to continue (with the same router etc) when I get my MacBook?
I have just bought a Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 with Bulk data encryption. You have some details here: http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/bulk_faqs.htm#a2
My Sony Vaio VGN SZ5MN/B doesn't have the HDD password in bios. It has only the BIOS password.
I've tried to update my laptop bios unsuccessfully, and right now the only solution to use this hdd feature is adding ATA Security eXtension to my BIOS .....
can anyone post latest version ControlPoint Security Manager for x64 Vista? On DELL Support web site is A07 version (latest avalilable) only to 32-bit OS
I tried to create a document on the MS Word 2007 that came with my Acer TravelMate 5720 - XP, Office 2007. The completed docu was saved to My Documents. When I went to My Documents to open the file, the icon contained a red bar, was labeled as encrypted, and would not open. I tried saving another - same result. The Notepad documents I save are fine but the Excel files are encrypted too. When I try to open the encrypted Word.docx file, an Acer window pops up titled Acer eData Security Management and says "System setup must be completed before you can use Acer eData Security Management. Please click "Next" to start the setup." Apparently I have turned on the Acer eData Security Management system somehow. I am not interested in using the Acer eData Security Management. It would be easy to remove the program but then it would not be available should I ever decide differently. Any ideas any one would care to offer about how I may have accomplished turning on the Acer eData Security Management system, and most importantly, how do I turn it back off,
Now that laptop sales has surpassed those of desk tops, what are some ways to keep our laptops safe and secure from those nafarious individuals. How can we keep from becoming a statistic and make sure our valuable information less attractive to identity thieves.
So far, all I've done was add passwords to my user accounts. In addition, when I bought my system, it came preinstalled with NORTON security for 60 days--which is highly rated and easy to use. That make it most likely the security software I will purchase when the trial period runs out.
What are some of the other things we should know about; and what have you done so far to protect your valuable information and investment?
I'm planning on getting NIS 4 (Mac Edition) for my MBP, which now has Snow Leopard. My question is on if anyone has NIS installed and if any major problems occur for you when running it. I read the FAQ page on Symantec's website and it states that several portions of NIS do not function in SL, but wondering if it causes other compatibility issues.
I know that lots of people claim Mac's don't need security software but I'm one of those people that are a bit paranoid when it comes to online interactions, especially since I do quite a few purchases on the Internet.
When my Dell XPS 12 Ultrabook in in tablet mode and i wake it up, it asks me to press ctrl-alt-del or the Windows Security button. What/Where is the Windows Security Button? without it I have to open it to computer mode, press ctrl-alt-del to sign in and then convert back to tablet.
This is my first laptop with a fingerprint reader. I dont know much about them but would like to start using it. I cant find much documentation about it other than the Embassy Security Center software but there is a lot to that software (at least thats new to me).
Is this what I need to use for using the fingerprint or password for logging on my computer? What all are you people doing with yours?
My old xp laptop had a password for windows log on but that was much simpler to set.

I've been playing around with my M6400 for a few days now and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the USH and ControlPoint?
I'm running Win XP Pro SP3 32bit and removed all the ControlPoint apps when I received my laptop. It's been running fine but I was wondering how and what I could use the USH for?
These may sound stupid but bear with me... 1. Is the USH the wireless card icon on the palm rest? 2. Is that wireless device compatible with any RFID cards or tags? 3. Do I have to use the Dell ControlPoint security manager to use it? 4. Is it worth installing this extraware
I've stayed away from McAfee and Norton for years, so I don't even know what an annual subscription to their virus definitions even costs anymore, BUT Dell's pushing a 1-year subscription McAfee subscription for $79, and 3-years for $99. Comparing the two makes the 3-year subscription look like a pretty good deal. Is it? Cnet seemed to like this latest release, but I don't know how much stock to put in that.
Is $99 for 3 years a good deal, and is McAfee Security Center even any good? Could I get a comparable deal buying/upgrading the subscription after purchasing the computer, or is getting it pre-installed on the Dell pretty much the only way to get it at that price?
find this software? I've reinstalled the OS and this software is the only thing I miss, on Dell website there's only the webcam driver but not the software, and also on the CD there isnt
I have the following problem: I set up an Administrator Account with password security and then add a Dell Security with fingerpint security. Now, I cannot access the Windows. The problem is the TPM cannot be connected or something like that. The scan says it accepts the scanned finger, and password is also Ok. How can I disable secure access or reset password, disable fingerprint control, etc. In BIOS I do not find any possibility to disable fingerpint but TPM activation/deactivation is there.
Dell r#######.exe driver files are uncompressed to C:DELL by default, once those drivers are installed is it okay to delete that folder. Mine is taking up almost 600mb that would be nice to take back.
There is currently a major security flaw in the DigitalPersona software used by the Studio's fingerprint reader, whereby a user can launch Internet Explorer (or the default browser) without logging on to the system.
If you have the software installed now, go ahead and give it a try. Either log off, or lock the system and then click "Swipe you finger to unlock" account, and then "Enroll Fingerprints".
Finally right click on the animation in the wizard and select "About Adobe Flash Player", launching Microsoft Internet Explorer.
I have a Installed Windows 8 on my Dell Inpiron N5110 Laptop. It was working fine but since last 3 or 4days it is having some issue. Each time when i start my PC it shows me an error with blue screen which has written
KERNEL-SECURITy_CHECK_FAILURE
at last line of Error.
I tried Re Installing Windows 8 but still the same issue. Also tried Installing Windows 7 but When Windows 7 Installation Finishes the System Restarts and Shows a blue Purple (Dark Blue) saying Your System BIOS is not ACPI Compliant.
I have tried Installing Windows 7 and Windows 8 several time but still the issue persists.
I recently uninstalled VM fusion. Probably not correctly. Being used to a mac all i did was drag and drop the icon to the trash. Then i realized it still was somewhat on the computer. So i manually deleted it folder off the harddrive. However there are 4 files it cant delete because they are in use , and when i right click on a rar file it still says "extract with winrar - windows xp pro 2- vm ware fusion" It's getting annoying.
I just got message in my iMail and can't open it or delete - it just grays and DELETE button becomes UNDELETE and not moves to deleted folder. But after restart of mail it just reappears. How to remove this thing from imail?
I just got a Pavilion dv6tqe, and there was an issue with the Norton Internet Security SONAR protection that required me to remove the Norton software and then re-install. However, after I did this, the fingerprint scanner no longer works. The computer says there are no biometric devices installed on the computer. How can I go about fixing this problem?
